As an architect and interior designer we greatly appreciated the smart and sophisticated renovation of this former institutional complex. Rooms are not large, but very clean and well appointed. Excellent location, friendly young staff, good fresh food. Great for dinner and movie at the theater in the complex. A 10 from 2 demanding travelers.

Good location & initially interesting because of the unusual setting. Really only any good for backpackers - although the price is a bit high for that market. The cells are understandably small, however there's virtually nowhere to put cases etc. Claustrophic for some, articulately with bed being up against the wall.

Excellent breakfast! The room was clean and tidy. We enjoyed the atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and spoke Dutch with us when we spoke Dutch (we are foreigners trying to learn Dutch). This is not a problem, but just to note. We had a double room (double bed) and there was no door connecting the bedroom to bathroom. Fine for a couple, but might not be fine if two friends share the room.

Staff, location + customised breakfast. Sleeping in an prison cell -> too small & too strange, did not feel relaxed. Would have loved to have seen old photographs of the jail before the convertion. NB : I am Paul, Hartford (UK) not (US)

The location of the hotel is fine and fairly easy to find.Being a former working prison, the hotel is a unique experience.Design wise, the hotel is very "industrial" and the rooms are small with no wardrobe or cupboards. Because our room faced south on the top floor, it was very hot and there is no air con.However, one of the staff was kind enough to bring in a tower fan. There were no bedside lamps and the only lighting in the room was a "bulkhead" light so it was impossible to relax and read.Also, the only mirror in the room was about 9 inches by 6 inches,in the wet room, not good .Also, the lift located near our room was extremely noisy chiming very noisily every time anyone called or got out of it.

The location was very good! Close near the harbour and "sea". The upper-rooms were so hot, that you couldn't stay there! We asked for the little rooms on the floor! They were much cooler. Ans they were as large as the upper rooms! We had to wait long before braekfast came. Too less waitresses! Only one for all guests. No variaition for breakfast.

Paid extra for lake view well worth it. Unique experience, would stay again. Hoorn very nice place to visit. Difficult to find as gps co-ordinates required as street not recognised by sat-nav (current sat-nav)

I took my parents and aunt to Holland and this was our first night.They are 75 & 85,and I am 49 !! and we loved it !! it had a lift,and was so clean fresh and modern ! would highly recomend it and look forward to staying again. They really enjoyed the fabulous breakfast laid on.

The hotel sits in a great location, right in the harbor of Hoorn. Indifferent staff. Tiny rooms: Even the alleged suite is small. Noisy. Not signposted, very hard to reach by car. Poor value for money.

The children loved sleeping in the cells. It was what they talked about most on the holiday. The breakfasts were very good and the service excellent. An experience worth having.

kamers waren voor 14.00 beschikbaar. Koffers werden naar kamer gebracht. vriendelijk personeel gratis parking ontbijt niet echt veel keus zelfs geen yoghurt,fruit wat je krijgt wordt aan tafel gebracht dus niks te kiezen. heel veel lawaai op de gangen en buiten dus slecht geïsoleerd. zeker geen 80eur per nacht waard! maar ja het is dan ook de ervaring van eens in een vroegere gevangenis geslapen te hebben zeker

Die Lage des Hotels ist fantastisch - allerdings nicht leicht zu finden. Zugang zu den Zimmern über Nachteingang immer möglich ohne durch das Restaurant mit Rezeption zu müssen. Motorrad konnte direkt am Hotel kostenlos parken. Keine Tür zwischen Bad/Klo und Schalfbereich. Internet-WLAN-Empfang schlecht bis unmöglich. Zwischentüren im Gang knallen auch nachts laut wieder zu (R201). Frühstückskaffee ungenießbar! Frühstück erst ab 8:00h.

Geniale Lage. Zimmer mit Blick auf Wasser. Frisch zubereitetes Frühstück. Zimmer sehr eng. Im Sommer kann es im Zimmer sehr warm werden. Dusche hat keinen Vorhang und Badezimmer wird dadurch nass. Geräusche auf dem Gang sind gut hörbar im Zimmer.

God udsigt over vand. Bynært. Lavet som fængselsmiliø. Nøglebundt som fængselsnøgler. Morgenmad ok. Ingen seperate sengelamper, kun en skrivebordslampe, kun et sengebord. Lav loftbjælke, man slog hovedet på, når man stod op af sengen. Ingen tandglas.

Frühstück und Frühstücksraum mit Bedienung Zimmer zu klein, Türen zu laut (großer Mangel, weil dadurch die Schlafqualität beeinträchtigt ist), Fenster für Belüftung schlecht zu öffnen. Anlegende Schiffe machen durch Ihre dauernd laufenden Generatoren Krach.

Accomodatie. Brood wel erg lekker van smaak maar veel te dik en niet te snijden. Douche zonder gordijn en geen raam die open kan. 1Handdoek pp en dat is te weinig gezien de drijfnatte vloer. Verwarming niet warm te krijgen. Bij ontbijt hele dikke hompen brood. Ober constant met volle mond de restje aan het opeten. Niet bij ons maar wel lopend door het restaurant. Koude eitjes bij ontbijt??? Waarom???

zentrumsnah , am Rand der Altstadt, Parkmöglichkeiten, Besondere Athmosphäre als ehemaliges Gefängnis, in der Nähe viele Gaststätten Angebote der DZ eher als EZ nutzbar, kleine enge Räume da es vormals ein Gefängnis war und eine Doppelbelegung m.E. ungünstig ist.
