Bed, hotel temperature - not over hot, views, excellent business conference rooms, staff are most helpful, location perfect
Lighting a little dim in the rooms - especially when it comes to putting makeup on! I found the food in the bar very limited and a bit 'cheff-y', restaurant food not to my taste and so a little frustrating when you are stuck in the hotel for meetings.
It was a special offer price and you really get what you pay for: no bath accessors, old room.
Being bitten by an insect in the roon leaving me with insect bites all over my right arm and being uncomfortbale to try and work the next day when the bites became evident .
On plus side it was clean and staff were friendly.
Was there on a long weekend and upon reading the handbook found a few things amiss. No complementary tea and coffee in room. No shower robes despite handbook saying there was. No air conditioning despite being advertised as such. I had to keep windows open to let cool air in and so ended up leaving with multiple mosquito bites. Also make sure you take screenshot of your booking as hotel concierge initially said my booking was for 1 when I clearly booked for 2.
The location. Next door to museums and great bars and restaurants.
Breakfast was expensive.
As far as location is concerned, you can't beat the scenic surroundings of this hotel in downtown Rotterdam.
My stay at this formerly premier hotel took an ominous turn for the worse when I checked in. One of the reception staff rudely informed me that I would have to pay an extra fee for checking in before 2 PM. I informed her that I've been a guest of the hotel for 15 years, and have never paid a fee for an early check-in. I also mentioned that trans-Atlantic flights are scheduled to arrive early in the morning, and so assessing these guests an early check-in fee was unfair. She, however, wouldn't listen. Only after calling upon the manager was I able to get the fee waived. Secondly, the room they assigned me was in poor condition: it looked as though it hadn't been renovated for a few decades. It was nominally a "no-smoking" room, and yet the furniture and curtains reeked of stale smoke. One of the windows was broken and wouldn't close properly. The upshot of this was that I slept poorly owing to the constant irritation of mosquitos in the room. Lastly, when checking out, I was charged for breakfast on two consecutive days. At 40 euros, this is not an insignificant cost, as well as an incorrect one seeing as how I don't eat breakfast. Suffice it to say that I won't be returning to the Bilderberg in the future.
Hotel staff are excellent, all very helpful. The hotel bar was very impressive and a good spot for meeting customers.
The internet charges for in room use are extortionate. Some of the fixtures in the room need attention and beds are protected with rubber/pastic sheets which make it very warm when sleeping.
the ambiance the excellent food reserved parking
Almost everything in spite of a very short stay of 1 night only.
Good breakfast; helpful staff
Lovely big room with balcony ideal for the dog to!
Good Location, just above the metro station and 15 - 20 mins walk to Rotterdam Central station. Nice staff.
The window seems like cannot open. It was in the reconstruction and we had to transfer the elevator in order to get to our room. Equipment are kinda old.
- spacy room - large bed - bathroom - TV - Balcony
- They will take you deposit of 50€ for each night and I had to wait one week to give it back - No air condition - No free wifi. Today even 2 star hotels have free wifi. Wifi is expensive and even when I tried to activate it, it was not possible. - the room was full of mosquitoes. First night I got 20 bites, and the second night I couldn't sleep of their buzzing - ovepriced breakfast
A decent hotel that is undergoing construction so it might be a little unfair to judge.
We were given a different room than the one we booked and the room had some minor problems (windows that won't open, poor lighting in bathroom, inconvenient electrical outlets) but the main problem was having to walk up and down several stairs thru a maze-like journey to reach our room, only to be told later that you could reach the upper floors via 2 separate elevators and several stairs. Since they are remodeling, they should re-number the rooms as the current system does not make sense and is confusing. One final thing, of numerous hotels we stayed in Europe this summer, this was the only one still charging for wifi.
The beds and renovations
great hotel to saty in rotterdam...near nightlife, shopping, nice park...staff were good and friendly..rooms were so clean!!
no air con!
Location, beds vert comfy
Alterations, reception staff
Great location and nice rooms
The numbering of the rooms is confusing
They were really supportive when I complained about my warm (HOT) room - and I got an air-conditioned one....
On the other hand - they probably new that the rooms (in the old building were I was staying) did not live up to the standard of an acceptable room (it was 30 degrees in my room during the second night)
Friendly and always helpful staff...
The price of breakfast for €21.50 I expected better selection of food and drinks.
The room was spacious and the bathroom was nice with a good range of toiletries. Very convenient located with walking distance to all sights of central Rotterdam.
We found that 172 euro pr. night is overpriced. But the hotel fees in in Rotterdam in generally were high that weekend maybe due to the jazz festival. No free Wi-Fi in the rooms - not acceptable for a 4 star-hotel. There are some construction works going on and we think the reception area was a temporary arrangement - but very narrow and there was no place for sitting in the lobby. The furniture in the room was tidy but not modern. Rather cheerless.
I love the small boutique hotel feel! I love the location and the value!!!
The pleasant atmosphere and friendliness of the staff.
I had paid for the hotel on booking, but when I checked in they took another payment which they said was basically a cover charge. I am now back home in England and the money has not been refunded back into my account which is a great inconvenience and I was not happy about and getting more frustrated by the hour. I did not use any the mini bar facilities and that money should be refunded immeidiatley.
clean, modern, comfortable rooms, good price value
Location is good, we can walk from train station easily. Place is nice and tidy
