Good location, the place was quite and still you just 15 minutes to the Dam square or to Central Station by foot and to the main activities as well, or you can take a tram. Zoo is just in few minutes of walking time. We ask to reserve a taxi to airport and they found taxi for 6 people at the fixed rate.

Great location, helpful and kind staff, good breakfast. The room is very clean. Our room (at the 3rd floor) was little and the stairs are very uncomfortable with, but also without, your baggage.

Lovely, quiet location next to Hortus Botanicus and park, but still easy walking into city (about 15 minutes walk from Centraal Station) and easy to get to via tram 9. Very welcoming, helpful staff. Hotel very clean and well maintained, with comfortable beds and easy chairs in room. Room facilities were good, with a small refridgerator and kettle with tea and coffee provided. Breakfast was basic but very good (cold buffet + boiled eggs & toaster), nicely served in a pleasant, spacious breakfast room overlooking the park. Main feature that raised this above many other small hotels in Amsterdam was the attention to safety - smoke detectors, fire doors and a good fire escape stairway (this was very reassuring, as many hotels of this size offer no means of escape from the room in case of fire).

I was chosing in between of this hotel and one international chain and was absolutely happy with our choice. This one gave very nice Amsterdam atmosphere with narrow steep stairs, very cosy breakfast room and friendly staff. The area isn't as crowded as centre but enough close to the centre to walk there - we never used tram except of arrival with luggage. We had tripple room for three adults, which was surprisingly spacious for this quite narrow building. Breakfast was quite simple, but above my expectations for this price segment (boiled eggs, muesli/yoghurt, cheese, ham, jam, various breads, tee/coffee). There are some bikes to rent just in hotel.

For a budget hotel it was far above my expectations and came as a relief to me! I had Room #5 which was a double on the first floor. Good size and very comfortable bed. Room was ok appointed, good tea and coffee tray and bathroom had a modern walk in shower. Location is good with central areas being a 10 minute interesting walk away. Its in an upmarket area with plenty of bars and shops around it. Staff were excellent. For the category and price paid mostly all was good. If I had to be picky I would say the cleaner was not too diligent as I noticed she did not clean very efficiently during my stay.

Location is good. Taking tram 9 from centraal station only takes me less then 30min and it is quite. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Talking to them and get lots of information about Amsterdam. The stairs are not so bad. Though it may not so comfortable for elders, but ok for me and I believe it will not be a problem with most of people. The internet sometimes do not work well. Ask staff to restart and it works again.

Beds and bathroom were very clean though there was a smell from the sewerage pipes in the toilet when we checked in. Spacious room for my family of three. View was facing the river and very peaceful and serene. Convenient tram services near the hotel. Breakfast served was healthy and variety of breads served was delicious. Staff Louise was very helpful and gave us helpful details to our inquiries. Hotel was very quiet and peaceful and I love this serenity! Good place to relax from the city life... It would be terrific if there was a lift available or porter service to carry our heavy luggages up and down the flight of steep, narrow stairs. I was told this is a 2-star hotel so there's no lift now or in future.

Nice, cozy hotel in quiet places and close to central station- only 20 min walk. Beds were comfortable and breakfast buffet nice to. This was the best combination of price and quality I could find and I was satisfied with my choice. Old milk was left in the fridge from previous residents.

Location and the staff were very friendly Poor cleanliness, towels were only changed once, bed sheets were never changed during a 5 day stay! Room likewise was never cleaned during the stay (bed made yes but never cleaned) 2 single beds with single duvets are not and will never constitute a double bed. The hotel was more like a old/tired bed and breakfast with hotel prices

My brother and I are in our forties and we liked a lot the place. The hotel staff is very friendly!! The room that we stayed was very clean/comfortable/large and had a good view from the backyard. The bathrom was large and clean. The breakfast was very nice. We liked the location, it's very close to the center, and neighbourhood is quiet. Public transportation just around the corner. I don't recommend for people that don't like stairs (there is no elevator).

I like the central location of the hotel, as well as absense of noise and relaxing atmosphere. The room (single) was rather small but very cosy and tidy - new furniture, fully renovated and clean bathrom, a big balcon, nicw view from the window, friendly staff. tea and coffee facilities inside the room. Rather high price as well as good aubility between the rooms (e.g. I heard TV from the neighboring room)

Nice familiar atmosphere, almost like a B&B joint. Simpel but sufficient standard. Perfect to explore the city. Nice spacy plain rooms, the old style... Sometimes a bit unreliable internet access on room, but mainly ok.

Very good and well rounded breakfast. The staff are very helpfull with information and directions. Housekeepers do a good job. There is no elevator. The stairs to the second and third floor rooms are long and steep. If you have any disability, this would be a serious concern.

Staff helpful; very good breakfast; good location for city visit- easy access to tram or walking. Steep stairs, without elevator. Needs a bit of updating for price based upon cost comparisons with Berlin, Frankfurt, Prague, Munich, Salzburg, Vienna, and Budapest.

The team was good and kind. Try to properly help with any problems or information. Large rooms, clean and comfortable. Multiple steps make it very difficult to bring suitcases and especially if they are large. We had a problem with a bad smell came through the bathroom drain. Breakfast very poor and not much variety. Especially hard vegetarians.

The personnel was so friendly, the rooms were nice, clean and up to date. Breakfast was good and the hotel had a home-like feeling. Many people have mentioned the steep stairs as a minus - but if you want to be well situated in Amsterdam and go to an old town house hotel like this from year 1864, you can´t avoid these kind of steps and should just take it as a work out ;) Wouldn´t necessarily recommend the top floors for families with small children though.
