Enjoyed the convenient location of this hotel. Breakfast was also good. Ac worked well. My reservation was supposed to be for 2 Superior rooms. I verified this with Booking.com as well as with the hotel directly in November 2010 (reservation was for July 2011). When I arrived however, I was told that room type was not available and had been booked "for months" even prior to my reservation. This did not sound plausible. My take on this is that I paid a very low rate, and since the hotel was fully booked, they gave the Superior rooms to higher paying customers. That would be fine if they had only told me this months prior when I first inquired. I requested one room type was told in writing I would get it and simply did not receive it. There's not much else I could have done in this situation and I was very very disappointed.

Excellent location and very friendly staff. The room was comfortable. The only thing I would change are the towels!!! They need to be larger and 2 per person.

Just the right distance from the rail station and city centre. Breakfast was good and the staff were always friendly and helpful. Our room was not at the standard of a four star hotel (budget room or not).Shower fitting was not sealed and bathroom floor was not cleaned properly.

Great location, just around the corner from the central station. The room was spotless and very comfortable. It had an indoor parking garage, which was a bonus, although you had to pay 15 euros a day to use it. The only thing we weren't impressed with was the breakfast. It was a pretty standard buffet, not terrible at all -- the bread was nice and fresh, for example -- but we felt that the quality didn't really match up with the rest of the hotel.

I did not completely believe it is a 4 stars hotel. Poor facilities of bathroom. The level of breakfast seems not comply with a 4 star hotel.

The rooms were very small, the furniture old. The carpet was dirty and came loose at the corners. It was definitely not a 4 star, I would rate it a 2 star. Prices are high compared to the rooms and the service received.

My wife and myself were very pleased with the hotel. After reading some of adverse comments we wondered if we had done the right thing. We found the staff very friendly and helpful especially Maria in the Breakfast room (She remembered that my wife was gluten free)..Short walk from railway station and tram just across road.Rotterdam is a nice city and we would definately stay again at Crown Hotel. Our only niggle was that tea cups in our room were not washed every day.

Nice breakfast, internet free of charges, comfortable bed, spacious room. Although the breakfast is served until 11 A.M., they stop refilling the plates way before that. On our first morning we arrived at the breakfast room around 10.30 am and since we seemed to be the last guests to have breakfast, we felt hurried by the staff. The receptionists came to have breakfast at the same time and I soon as we left our table they closed the windows and the door behind us, even though it wasn't 11 am yet. The entrance to the hotel has several steps, which makes it difficult for someone carrying heavy suitcases, strollers and impossible to wheelchairs and there is no one there to help you with it. This is an old hotel in need of some refurbishing. The toilet was too low for comfort and the shower curtain too short and let the water out ontto the floor. Also, the wireless internet has an access code that expires every twenty four hours, which means we need to go down to the reception to get a new password every day. We called the reception to ask if they could give us the new password over the phone and the answer we got was no, we had to go down to the reception to get the new printed code. Since the internet is complementary, I don't see the point of having to ask for a new password everyday.

Cheap and decent enough breakfast. Walls look like they could use a lick of paint. Several light bulbs in room broken - missed a light by bed. One front desk girl visibly uninterested.

Excellent breakfast, reasonable price, generally well trained staff. Japanese sized room lacked sufficient electrical outlets, slow wi-fi internet which may be the fault of the hotel server ( or the provider). Steam heat radiator up against the bed, inadequate ventilation in the bathroom. In fairness to the new owner, he just took over so that the rooms may be improved. The public spaces are fine.

If you don't mind the smell of cigarettes or something and noise, you can choose here because of location.
