The famous Vondelpark functions as a backyard garden to Hotel City Garden, which is on the fancy P.C. Hooftstraat shopping street. It provides rooms with street or park views.

View of park and friendly staff
The location is perfectly situated just 5 minutes from the Van Gough Museum and walking distance (10 mins) into town. Friendly and helpful staff helped us settle In. Although we didn't ask too many questions or require the on desk staff a lot they were willing to help and were friendly. The women who ran breakfast prepared a banquet each morning and also very friendly, accompanied by lovely clean rooms!
The cleaning of the rooms was sometimes too quick for my liking, with a few morning interruptions while we lay in bed. The street is not the prettiest in the city but the good walking time to any attraction and ability for a little detour through the park made up for that.
Location was good, very easy to get by public transport.
the location is fine.
When I checked-in, the staff told me that the room was very nice. The room which I stayed is a really really "nice" room - Room106. This Room is located on basement, opposite to the man toilet, next to the hotel facility room. you can image how bad is the smell, how noisy is it. Fortunately i didn't spend much time in the room. I have been many countries but never seen this kind of room. I really don't understand why the room is still in sold. What they want is just the money? I don't know. I'm sure I will not recommend it to my friends even it is free...
Very good breakfast: very helpful staff
Needed a little maintenance: bathroom door hook came off: one light bulb not working, and stair rail needed attention
Staff at the reception rude and not ready to help.
The room was in the basement next to the heating machines and the cleaning rooms. There was a noise all night and the reception did nothing about it.
Location by the Vondelpark and the museums, with easy access to city centre.
No bikes; rooms which even by A'dam standards were ridiculously small
THE ROOM WAS SUPERB THE STAFF THE VALUE FOR MONEY BREAKFAST LOCATION WILL DEFINITELY STAY AGAIN THIS HOTEL IS A MUST
Very nice and cozy with pretty xmas decoration is the hotel lobby. the rooms were small and a little minimalistic but bed comfortable, good TV selection, nice bathroom and good wifi, it had one really need. The location was amazing, smack in the middle of the best part of Amsterdam.
The room was small and looked a little depressing at first sight, but for the price was low enough.
Good value for money, comfortable and pleasant stay, would stay here again. Thanks
Breakfast was good and cheap. Only five minutes to HRC wich is perfect.from hotel to heineken experience +-20 min walk!
The rooms were small and old fashioned. The bathroom ceiling needs a touch of paint
There were BEDBUGS in our room! We had a very important meeting with our partners, and the face, the leg, the back of my colleague were fully bitten! Be careful when booking a room in the Hotel Piet Hein! I strongly do not recommend this hotel for accommodation!
Nice decorations and desing. Kind women in the reception. Close to the center, museums, trains. Good breakfast.
I had thousands insects in my bed. They were bedbugs. They were inside sleeping mat, so I couldn't see them when I arrived. At night they got out from sleeping mat and bit my face, back, legs. General manager Martin van Noord wasn't very kind, he spoke qiut rude to me and didn't apologize. The compensation was a bottle of red wine, free breakfast and they changed our room. Also they made pre-authorization that had been unblocked until we asked to cancell it. There was no mineral water in our room, also no cooler in a whole hotel.
The room was very small and very dark with only a small window.
Regarding the very low pricing there is nothing really to complain about. The enthusiasm of the staff in jumping right at ya. The breakfaststaff (the young guy greeting you and the ladies cooking the breakfast) were really welcoming. It made me wanna work there. On top of that there's Samira greeting you at the desk in her own unique way. Any employer must be proud to have to employ these people. What an atmosphere.
Wished we could have stayed longer.
Bed was fantastically comfortable, hotel was located very close to tram stops to get into town in just a few minutes
My one main complaint about the hotel is that the bathroom door was made from glass! I've never felt so exposed when needing to pee, or good forbid...
The staff were very helpful after the initial dispute about none availability of a twin bedded room. They gave us a twin bedded room the next day and worked hard to please
The apparent lack of a guaranteed twin bedded room when we arrived. We had spent much time on the internet booking the hotel specifically to get such a room to be told it is not guaranteed
I liked most the location and value for money
The single room is too small and the closet is so tiny. I thought the shuttle bus to the airport is for free but it wasn't. But on the other hand the hotel is close to a bus stop that can take you to airport easily.
Location, staff very helpful, performant wifi
no soundproofing, feels like there are no doors and very thin walls...
It was in great location with easy walking to downtown Amsterdam and the museums and also to local neighborhoods. It has a nice view and access to a great park just across the street. Close to stores, great restaurant,s and a bike rental, but on a quite street. Good in room high speed WiFi. The Pillows and bed were fabulous. The staff cleaned the room and made it up every day.
Just one small thing and It is not really about the hotel but it was in their helpful tips book that a cab to the airport was 30-35 euros depending on traffic, but my early morning ride with no traffic on a rainy Saturday morning was 50 euro with a modest tip. May be time to update the info...and no complaints about the cab.
Location Central Clean Excellent Breakfasts
No tea making facilities in room Front steps tricky for elderley people
Small room, strange smell from carpet, overpriced.
Location is great, room is good.
Staff is not as friendly, price it too high for single room.
Close to museums. Friendly staff.
