the location is fantastic. the hotel exteriour is very charming, but it makes the inside a bit strange. the staff was very friendly at check in and in the restaurant during breakfast. the room is very basic, doesn't look or feel very luxerious. walking through the hotel early morning all staff was busy chatting amoung them and there is no greeting or even acknowledgement that you are there. nobody welcomes you in the hotel.

From the very efficient and friendly check-in service provided on arrival to the wonderful Raymond in the breakfast room whose helpfulness and warmth made you feel right at home. I was extremely impressed by both the hotel's facilities and its very friendly and helpful staff. The later breakfast finish at 11am on weekdays was very welcome. Housekeeping left a note under my door at an early hour as I had a Do Not Disturb sign on my door. The note suggested that I would not have the room cleaned that day due to my note and advised me to contact housekeeping. As it happened, the room was later cleaned when I was out. I didn't see the point of this note. Also, the mini bar was not obviously checked or replenished each day.

Very friendly staff. The room was too small. I have stayed in many luxury hotels and the rooms are relatively big. Furthermore, there were no coffee and tea self-help units in the room. Other than that, it was a great place to stay due to the location. Also, the wifi was so weak, especially when I am so used to high speed broadband in Malaysia and in many other places that I have travelled.

I made a special room request and they gave it to me. Very pleased. For a 5 star hotel, tea and coffee making in the room should Be there. Shouldn't have to ask for it. Also the bar is very soulless, but bar staff good.

The location of the hotel is perfect, to visit the most beautiful part of Amsterdam. The friendly service and the very experienced personel of whom most of them work there already for a long time. The fantastic service of the concierge(s) if you want to organize something. The rooms are not standard rooms because the hotel consists of several houses. This makes the hotel very charming. In the morning they serve an excellent breakfast. Don't hesitate to stay in the Pulitzer.

I chose this hotel because of its good reputation and excellent location. We stayed for one night during the weekend with my daughter who never visited Amsterdam before, Unfortunately, we had couple of unpleasant stories. First, we found that nobody checked the minibar and the box with the peanuts was open and eaten up. Second, we found that someone stepped on the sheets of the bed and a dirty trace was left. And third, when we where living the hotel, we have been told that the door of the garage is blocked and we had to wait for the mechanics to come and open it, although we called one hour in advance, as the receptionist requested. This cost us a late trip back to Brussels and chanhe of plans for the evening. In conclusion I wanted to share my great dissapointment of your management. Five star hotels offer certain service for which customers pay enough money and expect enough good service. Unfortunately this was not even close to good. I believe you will find a way to compensate me and my family. Regards, Nadezdha Neynsky, mep

The location was excellent. The staff were helpful and friendly. The beds extremely comfortable and the executive bedroom well appointed. The garden area was delightful but being autumn it wasn't possible to take advantage of it for relaxing. We were bitterly disappointed in the Pulitzer restaurant. The staff were certainly helpful and friendly but as the meal prices were top dollar the service, and the quality of the food did not reflect the price tag. Breakfasts were ok. We had two evening meals , the second of which was very poor despite it being heralded as top quality steak. Paying 32 euro each for just a steak with little taste and lacking succulence proved to be a very expensive mistake. Staff were keen to apologise and offered some biscuits, chocolates and hotel book, all delivered to our room. Return of our 90 euros wouild have been a more appreciated gesture. Would recommend hotel but not restaurant.

The porters were extremely coridal and the location is perfect. I booked on line and the hotel does not reflect what I saw on line. It is very traditional in decor - the rooms are extremely small and often dark. I asked to have my room changed to something not facing a small interior courtyard and not to be on the first floor. It felt like a prison. I was offered an even smaller room on the second floor facing the garden. But, nothing was offered to me to offset the price difference of the rooms. There was a passing mention of a breakfast but this really was a joke when you think of the price difference of the rooms. This was my last stay in Amsterdam after 2 years living here and I really wanted to have some good final memories. Unfortunately all I will remember is the total lack of service you get in Holland.

We were treated very well by the staff and made to feel very welcome. Our canal side room was an added benefit. Given the cost of this room, we were surprised not to have free access to tv and wi-fi. Tea and coffee facilities would have been helpful too.
