Nothing I wanted to see was ever more than a 30 minute walk away. The Square has a number of bars, resturants and places for fast food. You can easily stay in and cook, there are supermarkets within ten minutes of the appartment. Not the easiest appartment to find, but staff were very helpfull at key pickup at the airport!
If you are there for a long stay, disposing of garbage can be a little troublesome, and I wouldnt recomend the appartment for peopel with mobility issues as the stairs are narrow.
Amsterdam is nice.
No sleep for 5 nights as the property above did night shifts so 5am was a disco, food on the walls and ceiling, electric sockets hanging out, really not worth half of the €3500 I paid for 5 nights. If Booking.com are offering this level of property I will never book with them again. Don't judge by the photos on the site.
Very central location, 2 separate sleeping rooms, contemporary design of furnitures & lights. Full courtesy kit: coffee, tea, sugar, biscuits. Full kitchen appliances (though not used): oven, induction plates, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle, etc. Very clean.
Very difficult to locate at first (we scanned the square for 1/2 an hour and finally got help from someone with a GPS). Very narrow and dark entrance between two bars with tables and chairs (had to squeeze through to reach the door). Very steep stairs (alike most AMS buildings). Smelly sleeping rooms at arrival, probably due to lack of air recirculation. Noisy area at evening (plenty of bars and restaurants), though windows had a good sound insulation (keep 'em closed). Seen from the windows very scary scuffles among drunks in the square at very early saturday am (5to6). We fortunately went out at 7 and it was OK. Crazy: not a single electrical outlet in the bathroom!
Location was central but very noises I did not get this sort of information until after we had booked. Did not see it on the initial advertisement.
Same with the stairs we were not advised until after we booked.
Difficult to find, given poor directions by staff. Very narrow steep stairs to access apartment. Much smaller than it looked on the internet.
Location for a good time was ideal setout was good cleanliness was good
The stairs the stairs the stairs having to get to the office for this place to get the keys. And did I mention the stairs ? really needs an elevator
The wifi did not work the entire trip, even after calling up every one of the 5 days of our trip to get a man in to fix it. Same goes for the television.
The apartment is situated between two bars. Access is virtually impossible due to bar tables and chairs occluding the entrance. Patrons refused to move to allow access in or out of street door. We were prisoners in an extremely noisy (not just "lively") environment and apartment. Suitable for backpackers interested in partying day and night. Apartment walls grubby and damaged inside. Fortunately the Short Stay Group agreed and moved us to an excellent apartment nearby
This was the best birthday weekend I've ever had, i highly recommend there apartment. Will be staying here again
The apartment was gorgeous and the beds were so comfy. We were right on the square with shops close and restaurants, bars and coffee shops on our doorstep. Walking distance from most tourist sites.
Having to go pick up the key was not good there should be someone there to meet and greet as when we turned up outside the apartment we didn't realise we had to collect the key so were u sure what to do and none of the cafes beside knew who to contact. We had to call booking.com who were very helpful but they couldn't get gold of them so had to go e us the address and we asked locals where we had to go. It would be a good idea to leave notification on the entrance gate for contact on arrival. Entrance was very hard to find as its hidden between 2 bar/restaurants. The stairs leading the apartment along with 3 different keys which was hard to figure out in the dark as its not lite up at night. The stairs are very very steep and hard to get down. The apartment as i said before was very clean and the shower was great but the bathroom itself had a terrible strong smell and wasn't very well ventilated. We had to open the door to let the smell out before showering because at time was too strong to enter. The tv didn't work and only had 3 working channels which were in Dutch.
Poor wi fi connection Uncomfortable beds Only two chairs for lounge area - there was 4 of us ..... so do the math Group of lads in apartment downstairs loud and smoking cannabis on our first night
Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank House, bike tour, canal boat trip
The flat could do with a comfy sofa but two armchairs ok.
Whilst we had numerous problems with the condition of the apartment itself we found the staff relatively helpful once our complaints were being dealt with.
Apartment had a lot of damage beyond reasonable wear and tear. Apartment also had a very unpleasant smell and the levels of cleanliness were not satisfactory.
I loved the location, decor and style. It was very clean and cosy! I would much prefer to stay here over a hotel and would book it again! Beds were very comfortable and tidy. Kitchen well equipped.
Few things needed sorting, light bulb in toilet was temperamental, Stairs are steep, but it's the same in most places in Amsterdam. Bedroom window had broken latches.
