Hotel & Restaurant De Fortuna  

It is very pretty, a patio garden overlooking a canal with charming restaurant and excellent food. Very comfortable, memorable spot.

My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary here. We had dinner at their restaurant and enjoyed the 4 course weekly menu. The food and wine was lovely. The staff knew what they were doing and were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and I would definitely recommend to others.

Our stay at Hotel De Fortuna was fabolous. The staff was very friendly, and the hotel manager was extremely nice, and very accomodating to our needs. The location of the hotel is beautiful, with cobblestone roads, and canals. However, parking was bit of a pain. There is a parking lot not too far away, but they ran out of passes for us. Therefore, we had park our car at the libraray parking lot. It was okay, but just an inconvenience. The rooms are very clean, and beds were comfortable. We checked in late, therefore all the good rooms were probably taken. We got two rooms upstairs, with very narrow and High stairwell. Hauling up luggage, and 2 small children was not fun. But, we made the best of it, and had an awesome time in Amsterdam. There is a bus station about a 10 min walk from the hotel that runs to Amsterdam about every 30 min or so. It cost 9 euros roundtrip, and takes about 25-30 min to get to Central Station Amsterdam. Breakfast was great, the typically bread, cheeses, spreads, coffee, juice, and teas. Overall, it was a great stay. Great friendly staff, qauint, cozy, clean rooms. Will definately stay again. Thank you!

Historic town and hotel. Very well maintained. In the heart of the town next to canal.

Location. Close enough to visit Amsterdam, at the same time far enough away to relax from his vanity. Friendly staff ready to help in all matters.

Price. Quite high if not pay attention to the proximity of Amsterdam.

The location of this very nice and old hotel in Edam is perfect.

The prices for dinner in the resturant is expencive. The beds are too soft.

Edam is a beautiful little place and the hotel de fortuna is just such a lovely hotel in a great location. I have now stayed there four times and count on going back

Difficult parking.

Very attractive, well decorated internally and externally.

Our room was in one of the houses that make up this hotel with a 'semi-private terrace outside our room next to a small canal.

from the moment we arrived we could tell we were going to be happy (we are a family of 4 plus travelling with grandparents, 6 total) , we had booked a room for 4 and a double room, as we were a little out of season and some renovation was taking place, they immediately offered us an extra room as the room for 4 was not ready, the accomodation was clean and modern, breakfast was plentiful and the staff were eager to serve even off the menu items (we enjoyed many cappucino's). The hotel is situation in a beautiful location in Eden, right on the canal edge, the hotel is picturesque (photos on website don't do it justice), the small town of Edam is friendly and quaint, with local shops eager to please... highly recommend and would return...

Uitstekend verzorgd ontbijt en vriendelijk personeel. Ook de vrije parkeerplaats in de buurt bleek een aanrader.

Er steile trap naar kamers. De grootte van de kamer viel erg tegen. Geen ruimte om drie zijden van het bed. Tijdens toiletbezoek 's nachts moet één van beiden via voeteneind van bed. Douche in badkamer is ook erg klein. TV deed het niet. Bij verlaten van hotel werd aangegeven dat kleine kamer gevolg is van feit dat kamers zijn ondergebracht in kleine 17-eeuwse huizen. Geef dit dan duidelijk aan op site! Prijs/kwaliteitverhouding vie daarom erg tegen
