Fletcher Hotel Restaurant Sallandse Heuvelrug  

I was surprised that with everything they had even a bowling alley, they did not have a gym or fitness center

The hotel is a long way from the town but very convenient for the main A1 road across Holland - we used it as an overnight stop on our trip. Staff were excellent and very helpful - making us a snack after the kitchen had closed. Hotel is comfortable and clean and room was good size. Only slight reservation is that it was quite expensive for what it was.

Very nice surroundings and the hotel itself was nicely furnished, particularly the public spaces. There were various comfortable and cosy seating areas. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The beds were far too narrow for north american standards and when I asked for a room with bigger beds, I was told that all rooms had the same beds! I slept very poorly for a week! Room maintenance and cleaning was very inconsistent. One day one pillow was on the bed, two pillows were on the floor. Sometimes we got new cups and shampoo, sometimes we did not. One day we got one fresh towel instead of two. During the entire stay we got one small piece of soap until, on day 4, I asked for another one. The room had crumbs on the floor when we arrived, they were still there when we left 7 days later. No vacuuming! The breakfast buffet had a lot of choices but was identical every day. Always scrambled or boiled egg, no french toast, ommelette or waffles. Worst bacon I ever saw, grey instead of brown because it was barely cooked and dripping in grease.

It was quiet and private but a typical hotel room situation. There was a bar and restaurant downstairs but it felt slightly impersonal. The breakfast choices were excellent with fruit salad and yoghurt, cereals, plus fresh fruit options, bacon, egg and a wide range of cheeses and sliced meats. We stayed for a week and took a much needed rest from travelling. The swimming pool in the hotel and woods just in the 'back yard' was a pleasant local activity option. There was plenty of parking for our car and the town is a very pleasant Dutch country village but well serviced. Sallandse Heuvelweg Forest proper is some kilometers away and has excellent bike paths. It was wet and rainy when we drove through by car, because I am slightly disabled, and the muddy boggy road contrasted strangely with the well paved raised bike paths. All in all a very pleasant break and the hotel had a very relaxed but professional feel.

There was nothing of note unless the slight damp smell in the lift was a bit irritating. The hotel is only just being taken over by Fletcher so changes are happening. One would need a car to access the Rijssen town centre.

Nature around and related facilities, pool, hotel enterteinment facilities, near town. Restaurant and terrace are great. Hotel staff.

Outside facilities are beautiful in a new modern classic, but rooms are old (furniture,bathroom, toillet, carpet, doors, etc)

prettige omgeving, mooi terras, vriendelijk personeel en fijne bedden. prima ontbijtbuffet. wij komen regelmatig in dit hotel.

Het zou fijn zijn, als je een kopje thee of koffie zou kunnen maken op de kamer.

Ventilatiemogelijkheden in kamer en badkamer konden beter; graag aparte douche-ruimte (niet in het bad)

We waren wat laat gearriveerd , we hadden wel de receptie op de hoogte gehouden dat we wat later kwamen. Het meisje aan de receptie was zeer vriendelijk en zou de kok doorgeven dat we nog graag wilde dineren dat was geen enkel probleem. Het was er gezellig en goed bereid eten.

We konden via get gps systeem het hotel moeilijk vinden omdat er verschillende spoorwegovergangen gesloten waren. Het hotel stond niet goed aangegeven voor de spoorwegovergangen . daarna wel.

Het personeel was meer dan vriendelijk en gastvrij. Het eten in het restaurant was een goede prijs-kwaliteit verhouding. De ligging van het hotel was perfect.

De kamer is volgens de receptie "retro" ingericht, d.w.z. volkomen uit de tijd, slechte kleuren, ouderwets meubilair. Op de stoelen konden wij niet zitten, zo laag, dat opstaan voor een senior bijna onmogelijk is. In de grote kamer (hulde) was echter zo'n klein badkamertje gebouwd, dat bewegen praktisch onmogelijk was en met 2 personen in deze kamer is bijna onmogelijk. Het draaibare raam open laten staan kon niet, alleen met een boek tussen de rand kwam er lucht naar binnen. Bovendien was het hotel bijna niet te vinden, nergens een bordje met verwijzing.

Leuk hotel en best gezellig.
