I've stayed at the Roemer three times, it's a small, quiet, funky hotel in a good location. The (executive) rooms are fairly reasonable in size with nice but occasionally small bathrooms. In a city that has some truly appalling hotels and service it is a tranquil haven. At the right price (see below) I can really recommend the Roemer. I know it's fairly standard on the continent but don't understand why a king sized bed turns out to be two singles, with separate bedding pushed together - it rather goes against the romance of travel, even if you're travelling alone. As a 6'3" 200lb individual a real king sized bed would be nice I was in Amsterdam for a conference which takes over the whole city, frankly the price I paid over €440 a night was not good value for money and leaves a bitter taste when the following weeks you see the same rooms for €200. This pricing issue is not confined to either the Roemer nor even Amsterdam and I don't have a problem paying for quality especially when very poor hotels were also asking €300 a night but you would hope to get some extra special treatment or recognition to smooth over the feelings generated when you have paid a premium. Having to argue at check out about a €5 can of room service orange juice , paying for internet access and finding the previously complimentary breakfast was now €20 a night did not endear me to hotel.

Excellent locations for the major museums, shopping and restaurants. Walking distance from almost everything, nice and beautiful neigborhood, good public transportation to the other parts of the city and the airport. The standard room must be small since our upgraded room was quite compact but this is common in Europe. Nice boutique hotel features. Large jet-tub. The staff was excellent, very helpful and friendly in everything. There were some features typical for boutique hotels, cool design but not so practical. There was not enough room in the shower to place your products (a rack would be helpful). The sink was modern and cool looking but not practical. The closet was to small, you could not hang long coats straight.

The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. It has a couple of amanities and offers a very relax enviroment. On of my co-workes also got a room there. But his room was half the size of mine for almost the same price. The staff was able to accomodate him the next day into a larger room. Make sure you find out what type of room you are getting before checking in.

The hotel was on a quiet and quaint side street, yet just a few blocks from the museums, canals, and shopping. Most of the staff were very nice. There was one staff member that was a bit curt and surly.

We were upgraded to suite which was very luxurious, spacious and well outfitted. Location is great for access to Vondel park, museum area, shopping and Pijp district but for access to central Amsterdam prepare to walk or better still rent bikes at Mac's which is close by (we did). Internet access is 6 Eur per day. Not overly expensive, but in an age where most hotels are providing free wifi this is a bit disappointing, especially considering the room rate. Our room was one level below the lobby and there was some noise as we could hear people walking on the floorboards above. Late checkout is 15 Eur per hour. Most hotels don't charge for this if they are not full. Also, check-in time is 3pm which is later than most hotels

We were traveling with our child, so we really loved the location of this hotel. It was on a quiet attractive street near Vondelpark. We were lucky enough to get street parking in front of the hotel which is free on weekends/holidays. The hotel has nice modern decorations and our room was a reasonable size. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel air conditioning was broken during our 2 night stay (and it was hot outside), but we were given free breakfast for our family -- and the breakfast was very good. The rear courtyard/garden was very nice and had a tiny canal and a family of ducks. The air conditioning repair men were working on the system, but unfortunately it didn't get fixed during our stay. The hotel provided a free breakfast so we felt ok about the situation.

The hotel has good atmosphere, and stylish, cosy interior. Location is perfect for good dining, shopping and sightseeing. Wide choice of breakfast opportunities nearby, so you needn't pay 20Eur for too poor breakfast in the hotel. The service was quite bad, on either check in and check out as there is only one receptionist, which is not always at the desk. During the first of two nights we had to suffer from freezing cold air coming from central conditioning/heating system, no matter which mode we set up on the control. So after we asked about the problem, we found that there had been some fault in the whole system and it was ok next day. Construction works in the next building started before 8.00 AM in the morning and it was so noisy and impossible to sleep, and even just stay in the room. Executive room had a coffee machine, but didn't have any tea/coffee cups. Minibar was charged, but no prices were shown anywhere.

Proximité géographique des musées de la ville. Calme. Propreté de la chambre moyenne pour un établissement de ce prix. Accueil très moyen à la réception.
