Staff extremely helpful. Dinner in restaurant was excellent and nice ambiance in the evening. Room comfortable with modern conveniences. Parking not easy to find, paid 17 euro for one night. Elevator only goes to 1st floor so be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs if on the 2nd floor. Our room overlooked the gardens which provided a tranquil view.

Breakfast was not included with the room. Parking though in a garage cost 17 euro.

Rooms do not have blackout curtains, room very small, TV very small by today's standards. Dining very expensive, better to go out to one of the many otyher locations in the city centre.

Location in the Centre of The city, authenticiteit of the building, breakfast with fresh orange juice and freshly baked bread, seeing the making of the bread.

Everything was perfect, the room was beautiful, and the service was even better! We've travel with a cat, and they were be so cute with us! No problem at all.

The hotel has a historic appeal. Built around a courtyard, there' s plenty of light.

Narrow staircases (there are lifts) , though this is probably part of the hotel's character.

Location and luxurious room

Very central and friendly staff. Beautiful large patio at the back and cosy bar with fire place.

We didn't think the room was worth the money we paid for it. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and small. We both woke up with aching backs. Electric wiring visible throughout the room, stains on the walls and the shower curtain was at least 15 cm too short so we flooded the bathroom every time we used the shower. Breakfast was ok, but also not what you expect from a hotel like this.

Nice atmosphere, pleasant, cheerful and efficient staff. Two good restaurant/brasseries in the hotel. Good food (including breakfast). Quite convenient for the railway station. Centre of the city with many interesting shops aqnd other buildings within easy walking distance.

My wife's mattress had seen better days; would have graded hotel comfort as good had the mattress been in adequate condition. No plug in the handbasin. External noise during the night (appeared to be club closing at about 4 am) and early morning (5pm onwards - heavy lorries with noisy engines on the road outside and, especially, reversing into a narrow gateway opposite the hotel) - the comment re noise possibly only applies to a few rooms.

There was something very atmospheric about the hotel - it felt quite old style but not dated. The staff were exceedingly pleasant and helpful without being overbearing. Breakfast is cooked in the same area as the buffet so the chef's are available for special requests and are making sure you are getting what you want (the chef insisted I had fresh scrambled eggs). There is a lovely courtyard with tress at the back of the hotel which many of the rooms look out onto. Right in the heart of Groningen, and I would highly recommend for business or leisure.

While it is nice to have big windows overlooking the courtyard, the curtains are white so the room is quite bright in the morning. This is being really picky though.

Full of character; excellent service; very good restaurants; own bakery (nice to see bread being baked at breakfast); free upgrade; right in centre but very quiet; great courtyard for drinks.

Groningen is a no go area for cars and sat navs don't work on one way system: it would have saved a huge amount of frustration if the instructions from Booking.com had indicated no accessible drop-off place and instructions to park car at nearest parking garage (about 100 yards away) with its postcode for the satnav.
