The only positive is that the bedsheets were clean.
This is an old hostel advertised as a hotel. Upon arrival after 11pm I had to trek up a very steep flight of steps with my luggage. The receptionist was okay and upon enquiring internet access, I was offered wifi at 10euro to which I protested then brought down to 5 euro. I then had to trek up another steep flight of steps to a four bed dorm. Fortunately I did not have to share with anybody. I asked to extend check out until 3pm and was told it would cost 50 euro the cost for a full night. I then negotiated and paid 20 euro. I will not recommend this establishment. The day receptionist actually told me that he was doing me a favour by charging 20 euro only. My original booking was for a single room and not in a shared dorm.
The stairs very uncomfortable in Hostel. Very large audibility.
The Hotel was adequately comfortable ' staff very helpful " & I think from what I see it's a beautiful country & so are the people .
My only negative is the stairs ! Not disability friendly ?
Location ok staff on front desk friendly
Cleanliness was very poor. Shower had not been cleaned. Bedroom floor sticky and very dirty. Curtains and blankets smelly and stained.
The room was not clean the bed linen was worn out the windows did'nt lock the view from window looked like the slums red pot tiled floor in room sink had a crack in it no plug for sink the house shower was covered in mould it didn't work toilet was disgusting in fact the entrance to the Schroder was rundown inside carpet was dirty and very badly worn all was were black with dirt very poor
Have stayed in better Thai brothel's
The in house mouse, very friendly, I wish I brought my cat...
The noisy Italians next door to me, however, the mouse had an interesting effect on them ....(they went very quiet after that...!!!!!)
Staff was helpful
There was mice in our room.but also they had cat and we need to sleep with cat for two nights. One of our friends is also afraid of cat so that was a problem for us. Also the stairs are so narrow and high and steep.carrying luggages is also a problem but staff helped.also you need to pay 5euros for a day for wifi if you want to use it.
Comfortable (double) bed.
My "single" room had in it a double bed, a single bed and a pair of bunk beds plus two 'spare' matresses under the bunks. Very steep and narrow stairway from entrance door up to reception area.
nice location (near the train station), kind staff
The last night there was a mouse in our room, The hotel is dirty and The staff is unuseful.
I had a good laugh when I found the hotel clerk sleeping on the couch in the lobby at 3am. Location is great though.
Really shabby room; shared bathrooms; staff didn't speak Dutch and though I am fluent in English I had a really hard time understanding what they said over the phone. We booked late so we had to pay €100 for the room, which even in spite of the date wasn't worth the money.
Toilet and shower room are not in the room. Not suitable for family with more than 1 kids, however a short overnight should not be a problem.
Good location, not far from central station.
Staff weren't very friendly and prices are far too high for the quality of the hotel. Would not recommend staying here
10-15 minutes from Amsterdam SC, you can find many caffees & bistros to eat someting in the nearest neighbourhood (including breakfast), you can see how city houses are bulit
dirty toilet, dirty showers, poor ronnm, not workin fridge (I think it would be betere without because there would be more space in the tiny rooms), it's rather hostel ane I wouldn't call it a hotel
I liked the close proximity to the city, and I like being able to laugh about our experience at Hotel Schroder.
It's a hostel and not the hotel we imagined. We knew we were trying to stay near the city center without spending too much, but it was 93 euros for a room that slept 3 on single beds, the shower was a community shower, the stairs were narrow and tall, making it extremely difficult to bring luggage upstairs, the person working the front desk sleeps on a futon in the lobby overnight, the walls are thin and you can hear EVERYTHING! I got used to not having any air conditioning, but the top floor doesn't dissipate heat and we were all sweating profusely on mattresses that probably haven't been cleaned. The pictures we saw made the place look much nicer than it was.
It was a really nice place to stay and it was also cheap. There was graffiti on the bunk beds, but it really didn't bother me as much. The location was amazing. Wi Fi was really quick. And we paid 5 euros for 3 night and 3 people. Hotel is actually good for its prise!!
Sharing bathrooms with other people was pretty annoying because you don't have a clue who has used them before you. However, they were pretty clean.
location & chill vibes
it was quite unclean
The worst 'hotel' in the world.
The fact it had a bed I could sleep on for for 3 hours and the staff were helpful. Smoking is permitted as long as you do it out the window.
The bedroom seemed like it was a bathroom converted into room with a bed. It was smelly, the fridge didnt work and had mould growing around the edges. Had to bleach ourselves and our stuff on our return home.
location is in walking distance of the station and main red light area, even easier with bikes
steep narrow staircase toilet door (shared) gets stuck, making you feel locked in until you can force the lock had to pay for wi-fi
Location was excellent- short walk or bike away from all the tourist attractions yet far away enough to have plenty of cheap places to eat and a good value supermarket just down the road. Good local bars and atmosphere, especially during the world cup! Excellent as a bed to sleep in.
The hotel wildlife- our first night we could hear a mouse scratching however on our final night a mouse ran over my friends bed and her face, which was disgusting!!
Convenient for travellers using public transport i.e. plane train coach not suitable for car parking though. a menace outside the hotel but the same everywhere in Amsterdam.
I was covered in bites on the 1st night there. Some of the rooms have a sloping roof above the beds so there is a chance of banging your head getting in and out of bed
perfect for price, informative and friendly owner and staffs, good location
water pressure in the bathroom is sometimes not consistence
Price was different to what was stated. Robbing!
