The City Hotel Amsterdam includes a complimentary breakfast and is just over a quarter mile from the Central Train Station. Its 18th-century building gives the hotel a characteristic atmosphere.

Rho is on the edge of Dam Square, half a mile from Amsterdam Central Train Station. It has free Wi-Fi and the lobby is an impressive Art Deco-style former theater.
Score from 3768 reviews Very good
The Nova Hotel is a modern 3-star hotel, located in 5 beautiful historic buildings in the heart of Amsterdam. Find yourself right behind the Royal Palace and Dam square with free Wi-Fi.

Good location , friendly staff , clean & tidy rooms
With my room overlooking the street , there was frequent noise from traffic , motorbikes etc that disrupted my sleep during each night
Location, staff friendliness.
Excellent location, 5 mins walk from train station. Staff very friendly, breakfast very good for a small hotel.
prices of hotels expensive in Amsterdam in general. Tramps outside hotel by canal but did not bother us. Mind your head on the stairs if you are tall.
We were given a room with a canal view, Hotel was 10 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal station
Disappointed with facilities (carpet stained, scuff marks on furniture and wall). Felt like we paid too much.
Spotless Bed comfy Location not too bad
Staff not too helpful Room 37 Tiny Have to turn sideways on toilet, otherwise knees hit off wall. Also have to turn sideways to enter bathroom. This room should definitely not be the same price as the bigger rooms
good location. Friendly staff.
very small room. But I can say it was necessary and sufficient.
The location is perfect - 10 mins walk from Central Station. The staff are really helpful and friendly. Ask for a canal view room as its really nice to watch the boats go by. Breakfast was good.
The rooms are a little small but it is an old hotel and some floors are a little uneven! This would not stop me staying there again.
Great location, staff nice, friendly and helpful.breakfast adequate.
this hotel is in the prefect place for all the sites and after you seen them and want to put your feet up I recommend their beds, need to find out what they were made of, lol.
I am trying to think of a negative but for the price we paid I can't.

We had a canal view room that was clean and basic. The view was lovely and it was a large room for Amsterdam. Fairly quiet street but still close to all the action!
Great Breakfast, helpful staff, lift, location, view, 24 hour desk, luggage storage, good WiFi.
The room was so small that to get your bags in you had to open the door until it hit the bed the first guest had to take their bag down the side of the bed and close the door before taking the bags to the other side of the room and then the second guest could enter with their bags. In their defence looking at the fire escape plan we had the smallest room they had but as we had travelled from the other side of the world they might have thought that we would have more luggage and were not just weekend travellers, we needed a bigger room than most guests.
Bagno piccolo e povero
This hotelwas a bit beyond our budget but we are so pleased we stayed there. Close to everything..buffet breakfast wonderful... staff so helpful..we cld leave our bags there on the last day . Canal view quiet. We will go back!
Location (near tram stops and near train station)
The single room was VERY small. Moreover, breakfast very basic.
The staff from the hotel were really helpful and friendly, specially people working in the front desk.
When I have Seen my room I was shocked and when I have asked to change the room I was said that no free single rooms inspite on announcement - Free rooms. It is dangerous for the life to live in this Hotel: the hairdryer is out of Order, the working 24 hours in a day condition because nobody wanted to repair it in the room and many others. It is the box not for every dog but not for the people. I have forgotten today that travelers should wash the floor in the bathroom after the quick washing because water is staying on the floor.
Very comfortable beds. The location was great, in one of the oldest parts of Amsterdam and quieter than the areas overpopulated with tourists. Free breakfast and wifi.
They make you turn in your key every time you leave and then show a card to pick it up which got annoying when there was a line from people waiting to check in/out
Perfect location, walking distance for all the tourist attractions. Exactly what you need in a city
Actually nothing to dislike except the very big pillow
location perfect for one night stay -lovely view of canal from room - hotel staff were polite and friendly and hotel and room were clean. No complaints and would definately stay there again
This is very close to the train station and I had a quiet room. Though the room is very small, I had a good stay and will probably stay there again if I go to Amsterdam.
The room I had was very small.
One of the best features of this hotel was the bed linens. They were of super quality- a duvet and nice pillow slips. The bed was very comfortable and I enjoyed a view of the canals and old Amsterdam buildings. Though the room was spare and not "decorated," it was still cozy, pleasant and quiet.
The lobby lacked charm and comfort. A few doors down from the hotel, prostitutes were sitting in their windows soliciting clients. Still, that's part of the Amsterdam atmosphere! It's an old building that has been updated, but has lost some character and isn't too welcoming. Despite that, I'd stay there again because the room provided good rest.
The location is excellent (it truly is), and the breakfast is 'continentally' OK if you don't mind too much carbs and fat (and one can always get his daily protein from a hard-boiled egg if he's not too late), and coffee is really strong and good. In terms of cleanliness the hotel was also OK for me, although I was a bit of surprised to find a package of crisps (empty) under my bed. The hotel is fine if you plan to spend most of your time out and only sleep there (remember about location: it's excellent). Towels, mattresses and pillows are fine; the latter might be a bit too high for some people though. There's even a canal facing room, and don't forget to get a small discount/free present card for different museums in the lobby.
You cannot change your room if you don't like what you've been given. My number 10 was fairly OK in terms of street noises, but wi-fi was very poor, and I have to enjoy conversations and door shutting in the morning when people came to breakfast and to the loo (my door was near gentlemen's). However, my poor neighbours from number 7 and 8 have probably suffered much more, because these are the rooms near the lobby and stairs entrance.
Breakfast was good and my window was facing the canal.
