room was very small with single bed only and towels are thin as paper
The staff was really friendly. We had a room for 3 people which was really big for us. When we are coming back, we will stay again in this hotel. The beds are really comfortable.
The only little negative thing is, that the breakfast buffet could be a bit bigger. The smalest one i have ever seen.
The enterance coridor of room was epic.
Everything specially the staff were very rude
Location is very good for Central station and dam Square
great location very clean
staff no smoking areas
Peaceful Rooms. Friendly Staff. Awesome location.
Bed was too comfortable to wake up for the breakfast.
view, clean, nice breakfast,quiet, place
the bed too small, the toilet with the shower in the same place all the water everywhere
Good location close to the railway station although it was amongst "red light" shops in Singel canal area!
Canal view rooms can be noisy and hot and there is NO AIR-CONDITIONING! How could anyone stay there in summer - windows can only open a crack. Our canal view room was on floor one which was at street outside eye level! TV remote did not work and staff became surly when asked to fix it! Must say that one or two of the reception staff were very helpful apart from that.
The location of the hotel
I upgraded my booking to what I was told was a luxury, spacious room with a balcony and view over the canal. What we got was a room no bigger than a dog box. The canal view was a view of the road in front of the canal and the balcony was a double window that didn't open, on to a tiny mock balcony. When I asked for another room and told them that I didn't accept that this was the room that I had booked I was basically told to take it or leave it. As we had been forced to pay for the 3 nights stay at check in, something that I had never been asked to do before, we would have had to forfeit the cost of the 3 nights. I now know why they ask you to pay before you see the room. I will never do that again without asking to inspect the room first.
Ideal location, within walking distance of station, relatively quiet, pretty. Friendly, helpful staff.
The room was quite small and actually underground. It had just a small window and when you opened it your face was at the level of the court ground.
the receiption lady was very kind she printed our document without charge
The location we could walk to everywhere we wanted
The room was at the back and you couldn't see the sky so it was a bit dull. Also people had dogs in the hotel which barked when left.
If you are looking for a quite place to have a good night of sleep THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. Rooms are poor
Free phonecalls to landlines anywhere from your room and free wifi. Breakfast was available until 10 o clock so didn't have to rush in the morning. Great location.
Although there was coffee downstairs, it would have been nice to have had tea and coffee facilities in the room. The hotel wouldn't provide soya milk:-(
The ONLY plus is the location, but the area is full of hotels, so this should not be the deciding factor for choosing this hotel and putting up with dirt and staff's unacceptable behaviour...
An old and filthy hotel with poor breakfast and crammed reception and eating area. I describe my tiny dusty room 41: old worn out dirty carpet, uncomfortable mattresses, jammed old hair dryer, broken dangling parts and cracked floor in the shower, which was basically a hole in the bathroom floor with a stained shower curtain around it. Not a 3 star hotel by any European or international standards. The highlight of this hotel however was its unbelievably rude staff who operated in a consistently unprofessional manner. My experience: The reply of the receptionist to my complaint about the dirty sheets I found on my 9 year old son's bed, was that research has proven that dirt is good for children! This comment was followed by a series of accusations about how "cheap" and "shameful" I was to bring my child into this complaint! When I asked to speak to (or have the phone number of) the manager, the staff in question informed me that he was not in the business of sharing the "personal" contacts of others, or tracking the "whereabouts" of his managers. He eventually gave me a pair of clean douvet covers (no sheet) for me to put on the bed, as there was no other staff present in the hotel on this ordinary wednesday at 21:30 hrs. Next morning, I approached the new staff on duty explaining (in the way of feedback) how I was treated the night before. I kindly asked to check out immediately (one day earlier than scheduled) and I requested to be reimbursed for the last night which i would not use and which I had been obliged to prepay upon arrival by the hotel's policy requirement. The immediate reaction of the new staff was defensive and distrusting of the validity of my story... The issue was only addressed - with lukewarm decisiveness - when I presented her with photos of filthy sheets and a recording of my conversation with her colleague the night before.
The air is polluted by perfume which the hotel use to hide the smell from drainage and bed/textiles instead of improving the conditions. The room is carpeted, very narrow and overpriced.
Good location , friendly staff , clean & tidy rooms
With my room overlooking the street , there was frequent noise from traffic , motorbikes etc that disrupted my sleep during each night
Location, staff friendliness.
Excellent location, 5 mins walk from train station. Staff very friendly, breakfast very good for a small hotel.
prices of hotels expensive in Amsterdam in general. Tramps outside hotel by canal but did not bother us. Mind your head on the stairs if you are tall.
We were given a room with a canal view, Hotel was 10 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal station
Disappointed with facilities (carpet stained, scuff marks on furniture and wall). Felt like we paid too much.
Spotless Bed comfy Location not too bad
Staff not too helpful Room 37 Tiny Have to turn sideways on toilet, otherwise knees hit off wall. Also have to turn sideways to enter bathroom. This room should definitely not be the same price as the bigger rooms
good location. Friendly staff.
very small room. But I can say it was necessary and sufficient.
The location is perfect - 10 mins walk from Central Station. The staff are really helpful and friendly. Ask for a canal view room as its really nice to watch the boats go by. Breakfast was good.
The rooms are a little small but it is an old hotel and some floors are a little uneven! This would not stop me staying there again.
