Swissotel is located at the very heart of Amsterdam, the ideal basis for visiting all parts of the city, as almost everything is within walking distance. Dam square is always crowded and you feel safe to come in and out any time of the night. The room was very comfortable and very clean, though quite smaller than the one shown on the photos. The nespresso machine was very convenient, we bought waffles and croissants from the nearby supermarket and had the best and cheapest breakfast. They did have an offer of 12 euros per person for breakfast (instead of 20) but Amsterdam is quite expensive and we preferred to spend the money elsewhere. The room was a bit small (or maybe the bed was gigantic!) and at the back, with no view at all. On the other hand we had a great night sleep because of the complete silence of the back room. The pillows were too soft for my taste, but of great quality, as was the mattress of the bed. There was some restoration undergoing in the public areas of the hotel, which didn't bother us at all. The business center was out of order and there was no free internet access anywhere in the hotel.

I have travelled widely and stayed in hundreds of hotels.Amsterdam is one of the cities I have stayed many times in various hotels. In my view the quality of an hotel can readily and easilyidentified by the quality of its staff and in that respect you will not find the SWissotel lacking. The staff are very efficient ,friendly and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them .I commend them and look forward to my next visit

The hotel is located centrally in Amsterdam's shopping centre. Fantastic location. The staff is friendly and very helpful. My wife and daughter enjoyed shopping as the stores and shops are within walking distance from the hotel. There are many restaurants and food shops around, so food and eating out is not a problem. The tram is in front of the hotel and the central rail station is about 5 mins walk away. The main canal is about 3 min away. Easy access to the museums and flower markets. A bit noisy though as McD is nearby and does not close till late.

The hotel location is just great! In the middle of everything (10min walking from all attractions, Tram station right opposite the entrance) The hotel staff were very friendly, helpful and smiling all the time. We couldn't wish a better reception or quality of service. When we arrived, our room was not ready (not cleaned) so we called the reception, and they immediately upgraded us to executive suite!!!! Everything was really perfect and great! The Internet connection is not free, not even at the lobby! A perfect hotel like this one, should have wifi free....

The location is very good! The tram stop just in front of the hotel. One stop from Amsterdam Centraal. Many shopping and restaurants near hotel. Just next to Dam Square. Hotel staffs are very nice and kind. There is 3 Mac computer for guests to use on the first floor. If you love to stay the hotel located to the city center then Swissotel is the one you are looking for. No free wifi

The Hotel is located at the very hart of the Dam Square , you could not be more in the center . Anything important in Amsterdam is within a walking distance The room was not equipped as you may expect from a 180/euro/night hotel. There were issues in the bath and the lighting in the room . Wirless internet in quit expensive - `10 euro's per day

Location, staff and standard of the hotel was excellent throughout, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to family and friends. But not the restaurant ! The restaurant! As my wife and I discovered after using the restaurant and then complaining to the Swissotel, not only is it not part of the hotel, it is just used by guests, as another company privately owns it. Unfortunately, the waiter that ( and I use the term lightly ) served us, was rude, impatient and ignorant, he seemed to form an opinion the minute he saw us, he did not listen to what we ordered, both with wine and food, it took an age for him to acknowledge us every time I tried to get his attention, when we first ordered our drinks, we requested a bottle of wine, but he returned with 2 glasses and plonked them down on our table and walked away, even though I was still calling him, he still walked away ignoring me, the steak meals we ordered also took an age to arrive, nearly an hour, when I then tried to explain that my meat was way under cooked and that I considered the piece of stake to also be of a bad standard ( far too much gristle and sinew ), he decided to humiliate me in front of the other dinners and pointed out that it was a rib eye stake and that was the way it was ! Only when we decided that we had enough of this restaurant and staff and requested a cork for the bottle of wine we did receive, did he then realise that we were in fact guest's at the hotel which seemed to make him change his attitude towards us ( too little too late ). This restaurant should be disassociated by Swissotel as it will cause damage to the hotel's reputation, also, we did complain to the hotel the following day and was asked to put our complaint in writing, which we did immediately, and was told that the general manager would be in contact, that was several days ago, and as yet he has failed to contact me still.

Very bad Hotel, Very expensive, Bad service.

Great location at Dam Square, Central Station is just a few minutes away by walking and it is also possible to walk to Leidsplein and Rembrandtplein in 10-15 minutes . It is very easy to reach RAI in 20-25 minutes by tram which you can get on just in fron of the hotel.Premium twin room is large enough. There are three computers which you can use for internet but they are quite slow computers. There is no free wi-fi. Breakfast is expensive.

The warmth & friendliness of the local people. The historical sites & canals. Delft & tulips, of course. Our room was too warm despite adjusting the temperature setting. The room rate would change depending on the hotel's occupancy.

The city Housekeeping Seemed very disorganised. We checked in to our room at 2pm and then a desk clerk and housekeeping entered our room without knocking as we were trying to have a rest. Housekeeping also tried to get in to our room on our last day at about 10am even though we weren't due to check out until 12...there seemed to be no idea of when guests were arriving and leaving.

The staff were friedly and responded to all our needs promptly. The facility overall was a nice one. Location is great for someone who knows the city well, but for first timers, it wasn't easy to figure out how the real Amsterdam was. It is a very touristic area and it mainly serves those interested in drugs, sex, and few old places to visit, but for city explorers, it is actually far from the real thing. Cleanliness level was good, but sometimes, we found the drinking glasses were not cleaned as supposed to have been. Traces of my lipstick mark on the glass were still there ! We were also surprised to find out that we had to pay "City Tax" on our stay and on items we purchased from the vending machine in there. Prices did not reflect full cost. I didn't like being surprised at checkout time.

First of all the hotel is located in the very centre of the city, close to main attractions, easy access to other attraction, to shopping streets and the Central Station. The staff is very friendly and ready to help. Rooms are ok, even if there some old signs. The bed clothes were wonderful. Coffee facility is in the room, even if I didn't use it. There is a fitness room very well equipped. There is also a business center, with 3 Macs and a printer and also some bites for people attending the business center. The restaurant was nice and the beakfast ok. In the first night I had a room facing a wall. There is a problem for me as I am claustrofobic. I felt like in a prison. But, the next day I have changed the room with a room facing the Dam Square. The room is noisy, but for me was not a problem, as I like to hear the street rumours. It was impossible to ajust the air conditioning and it was very hot in the room. Finally, I stopped the air conditiong and it was ok.

Central location, comfortable, friendly and attentive staff, good value(at special offer price). Street noise, one night out of three. Sound proofing could have been better for 1st floor room. Wi-fi charges were high. Many hotels no longer charge separately for wi=fi.

It was in the centre of the city The King Size bed had a foam top and it slopped down one side.... This 2012... every hotel should have free wifi in all parts of hotel.. Not just a business centre where you have to log on to their computer and put your files at risk. Breakfast even though an amount of 12 euro... You then had to pay for a cuppacinno on top of this.

Good location with good access to the main railway station. Some rooms (especially 237) back onto rear street which houses a late night McDonalds so you can experience late night noise plus early morning noise from street workers (cleaners etc)

The location is excellent, as were the reception staff. The bedroom, reception and communal areas were clean and tidy. The room was a little bit tired looking, maybe could do with a refit. The television was archaic and confusing. Also, the room service listed in the main brochure was not available, as they had changed menu, which no one had told me.
