In my opinion, more first-class b&b than full service hotel. Wonderful breakfast served either en suite or in the house's kitchen. Our room led to a beautiful garden and had a small kitchenette with sink, coffee and tea making facilites. Good, quiet location across the canal from the Hermitage Museum. Excellent restaurants are a short stroll away by crossing the 'Skinny Bridge'. The owner (Elisabeth) is very accommodating, and does her best to help you be comfortable.

Small hotel with only 4 rooms! If you enjoy good location (minutes away from Metro and shopping area) and quite place to stay, this is right choice for you! Very nice garden and pretty big room (for Amsterdam) as well! You do not need your computer, because they heve in every room included. They charge extra for fried eggs and salmon for breakfast?!

This a wonderful, tiny, luxury hotel (really a b&b) in a quiet canalside location. We have stayed here previously and would stay again.

Extremely nice small hotel (only 3 rooms) with very personal and friendly service. Place from where you just do not want to leave, but explore all the possibilities in and around the hotel, wait the garden to bloom throughout spring and summer, visit all the restaurants nearby (very near to the area, where a lot of different native cuisine restaurants are located). Almost in the heart on Amsterdam, but still very peaceful, quiet and beautiful area - if you do not mind walking a little, then much better place to be than exactly in the middle. If you do not like walking then tram and metro not far away. Too bad that we stayed so short. Highly recommended, lucky if available!

Elizabeth the owner has transformed her lovely home into a charming Boutique Hotel, our ensuite ground floor room was delightful, beautifully furnished with a lovely ensuite Elizabeth had thought of everything the room had doors opening onto a gorgeous tranquil courtyard garden. Elizabeth is a charming host and very helpful. Synopsis is located centrally yet is so quiet. We look forward to returning no need to go elsewhere.

The comfort and elegance of the Canal Room was fabulous. The bed was hugely comfortable, the kitchenette amply supplied, the pc on the desk ready for use, the bathroom completely furnished, including personal mirror and bathrobes, etc. Everything seemed to be brand new, and cleaner than clean. The location, right on the canal and close to the restaurants, was superb. The proprietor, Elizabeth, provided a sumptuous breakfast delivered to the room (really a suite) complete with freshly squeezed orange juice (which was a real treat after travelling around Italy for a month!) and anything one could desire. She is the quintessential hostess, offering prosecco and cheese cookies upon arrival, which we enjoyed in the peaceful back garden. Wonderful, wonderful place, and a very apt finale to our month-long stay in Europe. Actually can't think of a single negative... It was all good.

It's in a great location and really is very nice for the price. The owner Elizabeth makes it though. She is a wealth of information and freely gives it. I wouldn't even look at a different hotel after staying at the Synopsis.

Superb standard of faciities and attention to detail by the owner Elisabeth. Chilled cava on arrival taken in the gorgeous secluded garden, not just a kettle for making drinks but a discrete mini-kitchen, large comfortable double bed, not 2 singles pushed together, tasty ample breakfast served in our room, or if wished in the dining room or garden, very convenient for the opera and Hermitage museum. In short a marvellous boutique hotel.

Synopsis is a stunning house, operating to a high standard, tastefully furnished and decorated. Everything about this little hotel is absolutely charming. From the champagne welcome to the presentation and maintenance of our room, to breakfast in the kitchen with a view of the pretty rear garden, we were delighted. The location is perfect for exploring the city and Elisabeth, the owner, ensures that you have all the advice and information you could need. Lives up to expectations easily.

The Synopsis Hotel is an 18th century canal home in a wonderful location away from all the highly touristy areas. The rooms have so much character and have been redone to a very high standard. A very good breakfast was delivered to our room every morning and the owner was very helpful and accommodating with the added touch of a bottle of wine and chocolates on our arrival. There is a small kitchen that we really like when travelling to make tea or coffee and have cold drinks. The Synopsis Hotel was one of the highlights of our trip.

We really enjoyed our stay in Synopsis. We booked the room with access to the garden, it was a big room really quiet, littery was comfortable, the bathroom design in black and white is nice, flat screen tv and safe, wifi access, the breakfast was excellent with huge quantity, fresh orange juice, cheese, meat, we had champagne offered, Elisabeth de Witte gave us some advice to visit Amsterdam...I Chose based on other critics and good price. In one word it was perfect.

I spend my life in hotels, and expensive ones at that which does not guarantee a good experience. This hotel can be summed up in one word. Fabulous! The host Elizabeth is the same. Helpfull, efficient, multi-lingual, meticulous, with impeccable taste and attention to detail. I'll be back! Synopsis is a Diamond amongst a sea of stones. I'm only sorry I have to tell people about it. Complain? You haven't stayed in many hotels if you find anything at all to complain about here. Tremendous little hotel.
