Only Location I do not have enough time to express how bad this hotel is. 1. Upon arrival we were given a room number that was 002. They did not tell us which direction the room was and when I asked one fo the staff,he grunted and stated "to the basement". This ofcourse rang alarm bells as we both said BASEMENT? We went down some dirty steps to our room 002, which smelt of damp. We immediatly went to the front desk and requested another room, which we were told would be looked into in the morning. We turned on the air conditioning which sounded like a steam train the whole night and to make matters worse, it sounded like the grand station above our heads the WHOLE NIGHT LONG. We did not sleep a wink. In the morning we again requested another room, which we were told was being looked into, and the person on the phone added " oh we never had complaints about this room" which is not something you want to hear. After I rang the front desk again, and demand another room or FULL REFUND, they called back 5 minutes later with another room. Nobody should be put in the BASEMENT! this is not acceptable. iT'S A HOTEL. NOT A HOSTEL!!! Yes we did get a better room ,however we only received a 20.00 EURO refund which is peanuts for how hard we had to fight for a room that we paid good money for. The only good thing about this hotel was the location. We strongly suggest that you think twice about booking this hotel. Lastly we believe we were charged TWICE for the room!!

Fabulous location..walking distance to Van Gough and Rits museums, Vondel Park, Leidesplein and all trams. Staff pleasant and arranged flower garden tour. Room was simple, but clean. Make sure you ask for room with ac if you want it, as all rooms do not have it. Walls thin and could hear all walking above our room

I thought the staff at the Hotel were exceptionally friendly and always willing to help. The Hotel managed to retain a family feel whilst being professional and efficient. I was very impressed. The rooms were a little dated compared to some other Amsterdam Hotels, but my room was spacious and clean and the excellent customer service more than compensated

We found this Hotel to be functional, practical and ideally placed. The rooms are small, clean and dated yet surprisingly comfortable. The bathroom being the superior of the two rooms. We stayed on the first floor,at the front of the Hotel, overlooking a quiet surburban street there is no traffic noise. Breakfast is filling with all the usual basic fare served without frills. Leidseplein is a very short, easy walk and is an ideal hub for all the city attractions, trams, buses, airport and points of interest. We found the staff helpful, friendly and polite. Would I stay again? Why not, if only for it's superb location and a quiet nights sleep.

We have stayed at the Best Western Leidse Square Hotel before. We enjoy the location to the music event we were attending along with seeing our friends in Amsterdam. The rooms are clean and comfortable at a reasonable price. We would definitely stay here again. Small Shower.

All of the staff I encountered were friendly and very helpful. The location was ideal for our packed few days.Plenty of eating places and easy to catch buses and trams to points of interest. The beds were very comfortable, the room was warm, and the bathroom facilities were very good. The first room I was offered was clean but with no storage space. However I was given a better room when I asked.Breakfast described as Full English was lacking in some repects, but good in other areas.i.e.drinks, breads and fresh fruits.

The friendliness and willingness of the staff on the front desk, and the convenient location for transport, proximity to museums, Concertgebouw, and to a favourite good Indonesian restaurant. Also Leidseplein Information office is nearby as is the brand new Apple store!

The hotel is in a convenient location for visiting the centre and all the main attractions. The room is ok for what you are paying for it but it's by no means a luxury hotel. The breakfast buffet is quite good and reasonable value at 7.50 euros if you book it in advance. The hotel appeared to be used by a lot of large groups travelling to Amsterdam for the night life and so there tended to be people hanging about in the corridor and the occasional bit of noise. This wasn't really a major issue although it does give the place a bit of a "hostel" feel.
