The staff were very helpful before arriving and on arrival. We had complimentary drinks on arrival we were also upgraded free of charge to a bigger apartment before we flew out! Was my 7th time to dam home from home everytime. The lady who checked us in was very lovely she said we was so nice and she trusted us to leave without having to be checked out which was lovely of her. Overall would definitely do it again!! Big thumbs up!! Two suggestions though : pillows were lovely to look at but not to sleep on I'm afraid (ouch) also we could smoke on the balcony which was fortunate but it rained and snowed which was okay except you didn't have any glass in the roof on the shelter outside ? Abit wet to say the least but they could be improved but other than that it was the best stay I've had in dam :)
The boat house is the mos exciting Amsterdam experience you can have! Forget hotels! Paul is a warm welcomer, like an uncle from your childhood! Very patient and funny, he explains everything in the boathouse and how to get around! He understands deeply what his customers are looking for and provides city tips from locals! That goes beyond expected since the boathouse experience is amazing! Wake up in the canal and have breakfast with birds in the balcony! That's perfect! The boathouse is also very clean, practical, warm! I will never stay in a hotel in Amsteram and will Definetly come back to the Guest Boathouse!
Location is prefect, just near to market, Res, Bar...and view is awesome.
Room bit small, even cant fit my luggages. And shower is also small.
We stayed for two nights in this beautiful and special location and enjoyed it very much. It was not too far from the centre and not so noisy. You have everything you need only some steps away. Thank you to Paul who was introducing us to the boat and gave us the key. He was very friendly and gave us also a little Amsterdam introduction. We will for sure come back!
Everything was perfect!
Location was really great, close to Café Thijssen (20 yards away so no noise), our now favourite bar. Paul was extremely helpful. He greeted us, explained everything, allowed us to store our luggage on the last day. He then met us to give our luggage back and arranged a taxi to the airport. You do not get much better than that, plus he arranged a couple of bottles of Prosecco on our arrival, in addition to free wine and beers (also coffee and basic other stuff included, like toilet rolls, shampoo, conditioner etc).
I did not realise that there was no second bedroom - my fault entirely. The sofa bed was not very comfy but when we put the mattress topper on, it was made better.
I had the pleasure of staying at the boathouse for my birthday for 3 days in November. The boathouse is absolutely fantastic!! everything about it was perfect, the cosy interior the location, the terrace, literally everything was perfect. Massive thank you to the amazing staff Patricia, Diana and Paul for being so kind and welcoming and helpful. I loved the boathouse and will be booking it again soon. thnk you for everything, the boathouse is amazing and much better than any hotel!!! book today you will have an amazing time!!! thank you and see you again soon! kindest regards Sascha
contacting was easy, staff are friendly location was good with coffee shops and supermarkets just round the corner. had dvd player
We were upgraded to a "more luxurious houseboat" without a choice, when we arrived everything seemed alright at first, but once the host hastily left after springing a 60 euro hidden fee we started to look around the boat. We soon found most of the cupboard doors were broken as were the drawers, a lamp leaning on the window for support and duck tape holding the base together, we also realized that all the furniture was pretty much page 1 out of the Ikea Catalog, only had a small tv on a wall mount which was not secured properly to the wall and had wires hanging everywhere, and the remote did not work properly. When we checked the batteries, we found bite marks on them, not really what you'd expect from an apartment being described as "luxurious" in every sentence. After about 10 minute we realized why the host was rushing a bit as we found out that we were right by the turning point for canal tour boat, which creates waves that could easily help you fall if your not expecting it. The balcony/terrace was described as much bigger and better than the original boat but as it could barely fit 2 chairs and an extremely small table on it the doors to the terrace had scratch marks all over them from the door handle and all the paint was bubbling too, I'm not sure how the other one could be smaller. When I woke up on the first day I found 2 bites on my arm and my girlfriend had several over her back arms and legs too. Fleas or bed bugs. The shampoo had been watered down to almost nothing, worse than 0% milk, the conditioner had soap mixed in with it and there was no shower gel, not to mention the shower itself was pretty useless, no power at all and it didn't have a shower curtain or screen so got the entire bathroom wet. The sink had a retractable tap that didn't retract properly and just sort of hung on its side.
- Patricia and Paul were extremely supportive, I can not thank them enough as they have arranged for a birthday cake and other arrangements in the boat for my wife which was amazing. - they provided us with extensive details on the parking and the way around as well, - the view of the boat was the best in my trip and my wife and kids didn’t want to go out of the boat, - the wifi speed was crazy it was more then 50Mp I think but it was not coving all the boat, - The facility of this boat is a high standard with additional sofa bed in the living room.
- Paul has opened the door with his other key when we were in the boat late night to fixed the internet and we were extermaly scared as we thought someone tried to brake in the house at night, - They do not accept Credit card where I was lucky carrying cash with me to pay the rental.
Fab location, with great views out over the canal and a little deck from which to feed the ducks. Local info provided was spot on. Accommodation was clean and provided everything we could need (including a bottle of wine on arrival!). Highly recommended.
Not much sound-proofing between the rooms, and our neighbours were noisy. Also quite a bit of noise from the nearby cafes on the weekend. Bring ear-plugs.
The location was great, apartment was clean, there was duck swimming on the canal in the morning, so cute! The also give us a "book", telling us where to get the best foods/restaurants, directions, places to visit etc, very helpful!!
No daily cleaning service, but the ask us 60euro more for "cleaning service".
Location. Location. Location. I would stay here again.
A little noisey.
Everything was completely perfect: from allocation to the smallest details in apartments' equipment. And I have no more reason why people are renting hotels in Amsterdam instead of using a houseboats, they miss a lot of unique atmosphere in my opinion )))
The bed was too "soft", but it certainly depends from the taste.
Great houseboat, location and staff. Thanks for a brilliant time the place is lovely, so relaxing and nice to pretend to be local. Will definitely be back!
waking up on a terrace on the canal being greeted by all the boats passing by and having breakfast with the ducks is simply a once in a lifetime experience. thank you
I would definitely recommend this place to people staying for a week or more; the location is perfect, it is very comfortable, with excellent management and facilities, and you will never want to leave. I especially appreciated the responsiveness of the staff...several detailed emails prior to my arrival, a helpful guest information book with excellent restaurant recommendations and hints about the neighborhood, and a friendly welcome. The kitchen would be perfectly adequate for a longer stay, there is plenty of storage, plus a gorgeous, modern bathroom with shower and separate toilet room, bigger than in most Paris hotels. If you stay for a short time, you will be happy...for a longer time, even happier.
I would definitely recommend this place to people staying for a week or more; there is a €60 "services fee" on top of the €150 room tariff quoted in the booking.com search process. Easier to swallow if you are staying for a longer period.
nice location on the canal, close to all but not on one of the mail canals which reduces boats going by. Flat nice & cosy.
Kitchen tools are a bit limited to cook but also to eat (only very small plates and very small bowls).
Well we didn't get any receipt, but maybe isn't necessary in the Netherlands. It is a very expensive experience.
First the location which is wonderfull. The staff is very effective, helping you in everything. We got four or five mails before arrival explaining us everything. The parking solution was ok. Thank you Patricia! Paul received us and gave lots of explanations and hints about the best things to do in the sorrounding area. He is an extremely nice person. The room is big and with everything you need, the small terace beautifull. Everyday at breakfast time we received the visit of a young swan. We will return every time we will be in Amsterdam.
We were pleased to be given an upgrade and the wine, beer and juice. We loved the location and were charmed by the houseboat especially our little visitors, mr and mrs duck and their battles with mr coot. Only constructive criticism would be to fix the shower nozzle. Very friendly greeting from Diana and excellent directions from Patricia. Thank you.
Great to stay in quite area on the water and nearby city.
Great location in a nice neighbourhood; nice boathouse with everything you need ready at hand!!
Everything was great!
From the beginning you made the experience stress free with timely and useful email communications. The houseboat 170 was just perfect and the location couldn't be bettered. I fell in love with the Jordaan
View location and great staff
A bit expensive but it was still very nice
Everything was perfect!
