The famous Vondelpark functions as a backyard garden to Hotel City Garden, which is on the fancy P.C. Hooftstraat shopping street. It provides rooms with street or park views.

Really good location!
Little ventilation in the room - heat was unbearable. Opened the window but it didn't let any air in the room. Room was as described on the site - far too small for 3 people!
The location is good, the neighborhood is chic and close to museums and nightlife
We didn't like anything! The rooms are ridiculously small, the first room we had was vera dirty upon arrival. There were hairs all around the floor. We changed the room because there was a loop in the shower (the bathroom was flooded). The hotel is extremely noisy. You can not close an eye there, you hear everything form the corridors, the other rooms and reception. On top of everything there is a bar at the reception, so at 3 o'clock a.m. you enjoy the screams of the drunk and wasted guests of the hotel. The breakfast was very poor as well. The wifi is inexistent. In one sentence, choose another hotel in Amsterdam!
3 blocks from top 3 museums and my favorite cafe, Smart Talk. Great staff fully competent, fine English speakers. Quiet street, just around the corner from all the top elite labels I can't afford. Near trams, even direct from airport. Terrific special price.
Very bare, tiny room, not enough upper storage for all my toiletries in bath. No hooks in bath for robe, towels. Hallway needs new rug or cheery color, Black walls? There are steps from the street up to the entrance. Struggle for luggage, but doable.
The location is good and the WiFi is free. The room is the smallest room I have ever seen. It is very difficult to go in the room because there is no space to walk and hold a bag. The lift and the floor in the lift so...dirty!
The dirtiest reception I have ever seen...The carpet in front of the door is so dirty and old. There is a sofa and a small table near the reception which are so dirty...! Also the cupboards with the box files behind the reception desk have so much dust in.... The floor and everything around are so dirty. We stayed for three nights in the hotel and I think that they never mapped the floor of our room.
Comfortable bed. Helpful staff.
Tininess of the rooms.
Good free wifi an good helpful staff
We got a 3 person room which was really a two with 3 bed in awkward position so had to climb over it to go toilet
Staff were absolutely fantastic could not fault anything they done!! The hotel itself is beautiful, immaculate rooms & great location. We were able to get the tram number 2 or 5 from the central station right to the top of the street the hotel is on. 5 minute walk from the Casino and bars and restaurants such as Hard Rock cafe.. I would definately return here every time I visit Amsterdam from now on.
The location is centralised to places of interest. Good value for money stay.
The room is too cramp and small, even to fit in my very small-framed built! The hallways, staircase and lift are cramp. I think no big luggages can go through these areas. Staffs look unfriendly and angry.

Toilet a bit too small.
the staff are fantastic the shower is hot and strong the location
It is extremely dirty Beds are like used futons sheets are not changed very small space no cups, or water to drink
Close to Van Gogh Museum
Very small room for 3 people. It was a small double room with an extra bed (chair bed) in front of the entrance.
Very good location, just next to Het Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. To go to downtown also convenient, either take TARM#2 or by walk. The room is cozy and with style, match with the Hotel name "Poet". Wifi is free but mentioned as 'paid wifi' on booking.com.
The heater is not powerful enough. Failed to logon WIFI in our room.
Cozy and nice place. Close to the awesome Museumplein, which is a not-so-crowded-touristic spot. The most of the staff was very kind and helpful to us.
During our stay, on the night of November 12th, we wanted to have a drink at the hotel´s bar. The person in charge was not so kind (or maybe he doesn´t like his job): as we were paying with credit/debit card, he suggested that if we have any problem on paying with a card, we could solve it at the police station. I don´t know what was this guy doing in a job where a nice interaction with you customers is a NEED!! Hope this guy finds a job that makes him happier!
The location was superb, museums, casino and tram in walking distance, the brekafast was nice and the room very clean and well-decorated
Not enough space in the room
To be able to walk between the museums and the hotel in less than 100 metres was fantastic. Well placed also for strolling through the centre. Tram on doorstep. Quiet. Lovely, light room with high ceiling. Very clean shower and loo.
Breakfast was included, but a bit basic: tinned fruit and nothing cooked except hard boiled eggs. Still at the price we paid it was excellent value.
Small, but tidy and modern room with some cool design touches to make me feel like i was staying at much pricier hotel. Service was friendly and helpful! Extremely convenient location in a quiet, safe neighborhood, within a short walk of the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. Nice breakfast buffet - not lavish, but good.
Room is quite tiny -- I'm only 5'1" and only used one of the two twin beds in the room, so I was fine -- but it might be too small for sleeping, storing stuff for a larger, wider person. Also, the walls were quite thin. I could hear the person in the room next to me coughing and wheezing for most of the night. Bring headphones or earplugs if you're sensitive to noise.
WiFi was free. Fantastic location on a quiet street. Small but very decent selection at breakfast buffet.
- Proximity to Attractions - Proximity to public transportation
- The tight squeezed corridors - Poor breakfast - Staff friendliness & Service
What a terrific location! Steps to several museums, including the Rijk;s plus a terrific high-end shopping area. The cozy room was modern, bright and tastefully furnished. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and I appreciated the young man who helped carry my bag down the steep flight of stairs to the sidewalk.
The lobby badly needs a make-over which would include removal of the animal corpse's mounted on the walls and incorporated as furniture legs. The dingy entrance way is reminiscent of a scarey retro madhouse...
helpful and friendly staff. WiFi is free, with decent signal on 3rd floor. Comfortable bed in nicely decorated room. Tram stop and Rijksmuseum are at a 2 minutes walk. Located in a quiet area of the centre. Very good value for money!
Breakfast is extremely Dutch-style. Which is okay, but boiled eggs as the only "warm" option is probably a bit too sober.
Uncomfortable bed Cold room. No thermostat Noisy
Breakfast was included and was reasonably good. Quaint older building.Location was convenient for walking to museums, restaurants; in a nice neighborhood.
There was very loud construction going on outside our window. Small rooms in the basement should be much cheaper.
Very close to everything!
Old and not very attractive. Strange people around. Definitely way too expensive. The stuff has forgotten to order a taxi for me to the airport...
Location of hotel was good, near the Museumplein and Leidseplein, the Vondel Park, and a quiet street in the city. The Staff was very kind and willing to help.
- bad accesos to the building. One has to lift the heavy luggage up very steep stairs. Very inconvenient for people that carry luggage or elders. Breakfast room in the basement. Again the challenging stairs every morning. Breakfast was poor in terms of options. - rooms are too little, especially if you are not a couple.
For us the hotel was in an ideal location close to the museums and the Concertgebau. It was also in a quiet residential street.
The room was rather small. Stairs down to breakfast room were very steep.
