Very helpful receptionist. Decently located once you get a hang of the area. Pretty nice area. Room facilities were all fine. Bed was comfortable. Heating available in room. Hot water. Everything clean.
No elevator from 4th to 5th floor. Kinda tough to navigate with bags.
Location is nice, once we paid for an upgrade the rooms became liveable, the first one offered was more like a wardrobe.
most of the rooms are very tiny, like you cant open your suitcase
clean bed, good bath facility.
poor WiFi connection.
Location & room design
Friendly staff. Let me check in early and they looked after my luggage for the rest of the day after i checked out. Great location. I would defo book again. Room was compact but had everything. . . Modern decoration throughout.
I was in a ground floor room. It was a little noisy but this is not something that is a problem for me. Breakfast was an extra charge. I didn't try it as so any lovely places to eat very close by.
the location is perfect, it has a smoke cafe beside it and, it's in the middle of everything. The staff are very friendly..simply I'll go there everytime I visit Amsterdam.
the wifi in the basement room is very bad..don't reserve this room, take the river view room and everything will be perfect.
Staff and atmosphere
No window on the ground floor
The free small crossans
Excellent wifi, 5 minutes from the dam square, the grey area coffee shop right around the corner.
A guest brought a dog and it poo'd on the corridor floor, the whole floor stunk for my whole stay
Excellent location, 5 min walk from dam square, also very close to train station and Anne frank house. Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms on the small side but clean and tidy so what more do you want! Would definitely stay here again
Peanut is great, and the common area is comfortable.
Close enough to walk to attractions. Far enough away to avoid touristville.
First of all we have to praise Sherman, he's kind, accessible and very pro active with concierge and other issues. We liked the location and free wifi altough we barely stayed in the hotel if not to sleep. We liked the decor and the view to the canal we catches some direct sun light from 4 to 6 pm on room 551. We liked everything in general
Beds although new were not my kind of mattresses very slim but still comfortable sufficiently No mini bar in the room Just think room prices are high for the hotel conditions itself and comparing to others in nearby areas. But we liked it all anyway
Very polite and helpful staff. Room very clean and bed very comfortable, loved the quirky attic room - small but it's all we needed. Fantastic location.
No milk in our room for tea/coffee.
We stayed in a canal view room which really made our stay that bit more memorable. The rooms are quite small but the big window opens it up making it very relaxing to lie and look out after you're tired from exploring the canals on foot.
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, free wifi, very clean.
Rooms are compact, didn't bother me but might bother others. Pillows a bit uncomfortable. My room was a bit noisy as it was next to the downstairs toilets. Maintenance work started in the front desk at 8.15 on the monday morning which ended any hopes of sleeping in!
the location, the staff
The room in the basement, lots of noise, no view of the sky.
Hot and cold water supply works well. Internet bandwith is good
Rooms of 9 square meters and 20 square meters are priced equally. When booking the room of 20 square meters is shown. When guests come, them lodge in small rooms. To move to rooms for which a bill is made out, it is possible only every other day or through two.
The tiny attic room had compromised ceilings so for the second person to get into bed it was necessary to get in from the bottom of the bed as the sloped ceiling made it impossible to get in any normal way. The price for 3 nights was 465 Euro, the shower leaked and the bathroom was little more that a cupboard. There was blown plaster from damp on the wall.
Really nice and newly furnished room, clean, friendly, generous, lift.
Street vehicles and the DOM bells a bit noisy. A bit expensive.
the location and the staf ofthe hotel
Great location. Staff were lovely. Rooms were very cosy and all recently decorated. Although small the bathroom it was very well equipped with a great shower and all you could need. I would definitely stay here again when I return to Amsterdam and would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam.
It is next door to a Dutch "coffee shop" called Amnesia from which there came a very pungent smell all day. It was only an issue when coming in and out of the hotel and didn't really impact our stay but it might be a consideration if you had children with you.
The location was great.
When we walked in the room absolutely stank of cigarette smoke, which wouldn't budge for our whole stay. Requested and confirmed to have a double bed, was given two singles pushed together (that didn't fit together) so when you rolled over in the night, you fell down a gap. Was told we could hire bikes, they had three, one the key had snapped off in the lock, the second had a broken lock and we ended up with the third, which we later found out didn't really have working brakes and you had turn the handlebars left to go straight, and then had the hassle of finding another bike rental place while one of us had a bike. We did get our money back on the hotel bike, but it made the whole bicycle experience disappointing. The key at one point wouldn't work in the door and there was a couple of earwigs in our shower for the duration of our stay. I booked this hotel as a gift for my boyfriends 21st and I feel thoroughly let down by it. Also, the wallpaper in our room was of an older man, groping a young woman, who looked upset by the situation; I felt this was inappropriate and done in bad taste.
Beds were better than my own! Loved the wall murals. Location is absolutely ideal, beautiful spot. Everything was very clean, staff were helpful but not intrusive. Will be staying here again.
There was nothing I didn't like at all, which is rare.
