Like everyone else we were unhappy with the poor bathroom lighting which the staff says will be addressed in the upcoming renovation. One time our room wasn't cleaned when we needed it and the manager arranged for us to have free gourmet breakfasts, as an apology.
Beautiful hotel and warm staff. the location near all the top museums and comfortable, uncrowded, neighborhood makes this our favorite area in Amsterdam!
Complicated and intermittent Internet access. Room lighting was over complex and provided insufficient lighting levels
Rooms sometimes have a strange and unlogical setup. I guess that's maybe because of the old building. I'd advise the hotel to get normal light switches. What they have today is not intuitive.
Nice venue. Not too expensive this time round.
Beautiful hotel. Walked to restaurants, Van Gogh Museum, Reiks Museum, symphony. Room was gorgeous! Staff fantastic.
Price x quality. You NEED Dutch speaking personel in a ....Dutch hotel !
Would have preferred if slightly near to centre of town but the pros far outweighed this!
Great atmosphere - relaxed and peaceful. Staff were friendly without being obtrusive, helpful and accommodating. Thank you!
A very minor thing but it did prove surprising annoying was the lack of towel rails in the bathroom so would have to leave dry or damp towels on the floor....
The staff were very good and the concept of it being used as a training hotel for new recruits to the hospitality industry is very good. The mentors providing the training were excellent and I found the staff to be very engaged, attentive and helpful.
Bad lighting , tired hotel , not enough powerpoints , bad wifi system
Quite expensive and quite slow service at the bar area - chose to eat elsewhere instead.
Wonderful refurbished building, beautiful decor and very comfortable room. Hotel warned us that there was a private event happening several days in advance, and we were actually not disturbed at all by it. Excellent attention to detail by staff members. Location is very central f you like to walk (about 15 minutes to Leidseplein) and also well connected with trams, but still very quiet and away from the nightclubs etc. Absolutely perfect for popping down to the Museums for the afternoon.
It is far from to dam square and all other fun attractions. It is just close to museum area.Room was too cold
Cool design comfy beds adn helpfull friendly stuff.
Excellent service with friendly staff but we had no bath towels on our second night.
If you are just a bit sensitive to street noise then dont book this hotel, there is a tram running 24/7 outside and the windows are poorly isolated. The room was a bit run down, especially the bathroom needs a serious renovation and cleaning.
The entire hotel is dimly lit , to the point u can't see where to put the room key. A real problem as I found it hard to get around the hotel & read room numbers. Beauty can't be appreciated in the darkness. Room was so dim I had to remove lamp shades. Bath lighting was normal.
Location was excellent & very safe. Room was charming & comfortable & hotel personnel were professional.
Room service was not as quick as I hoped.
Design and layout of the hotel plus it has lots of character and old features. All staff were very friendly and helpful.
the lighting in the rooms is very poor. Also, it would be nice to have fluffier towels and maybe having the towels changed or added to in the evening. It would also be helpful to have hooks in the bathroom to hang up the bathrobes.
the location is excellent-walking distance from the museum square and the concert hall.
Different wi-fi passwords for phone and computer
Location is great.
wifi connection sometimes not really fast
location unique design of the hotel nice receptionists
Lighting in the room was very dim; use higher wattage. Night drapes on one window lacked a pull to close.
The staff was very helpful. The hotel was clean and spacious. The décor was lovely. The breakfast buffet was good with several choices. I liked that the location of the hotel was away from downtown, but had easy access by tram.
We loved absolutely everything! Do yourself a favour and stay here, you won't be disappointed.
Quirky light controls in room.
Room. Breakfast - even though expensive.
Rooms very dark & no air conditioning
Hotel decor and location
we had a relatively small bedroom on the second floor which single window was facing a chimnee directly in front. very bad bed (and we are not "picky" people). In general for the price we didn't feel like a 4 star hotel.
location and building.
hotel very good value for money staff very helpful
