The Sofitel is a beautiful hotel, exquisite and tasteful in every respect. The standard of staff service is about the best I have ever experienced for a hotel in this class. The location of the hotel is very good and is an oasis of comfort straight off the busy streets packed with tourists. The beds are very very comfortable and worth a mention. The hotel is obvoiusly geared up for wealthy patronage, but the price of food and services in the hotel is prohibitively expensive. $6 for a hash brown... Please. It doesn't need to cost that much and in the long run will lose out to many of the superb restaurants on its doorstep. I also wasn't prepared to pay for the spa treatments which I usally enjoy, which is a shame because it would have added to an already amazing weekend.

Sofitel The Grand was our second stop on a 4 stop honeymoon. The hotel gave us a complimentary upgrade and champagne to celebrate the occasion. Aside from the upgrade, the staff was extremely warm and welcoming upon check-in. They escorted us to our beautiful room which overlooked the courtyard and walked us through all of the features of the hotel room. The room was well decorated and very clean. The bathroom was amazing, with a dual head shower, a large soaking tub and his and hers sinks. Also, the location of the hotel itself was great as we were within walking distance of the city center. We both used the gym, swimming pool and steam room (all complimentary) during our stay. While the gym was definitely tiny, the indoor pool was a decent size. The concierge’s recommendations were all a hit from Pancake Bakery, to a new Vietnamese restaurant, to a great wine bar. Even though the weather wasn’t ideal (pockets of rain the whole weekend) our trip was excellent because of Sofitel The Grand. We will definitely be back and wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else!

Rooms and lobby are rather small; feels a bit claustrophobic. I expected a suprior double room in a top 5* hotel to be a bit bigger Service is good Location good

My wife and I just loved the place. A bit expensive but it's really worth it. We'd love to do it again. The room was a little bit small for a jr. Suit.

To be honest - we had a blast. From the moment we set our feet in the lovely yard, to the point we had a choclate feast in the warm lounge just before the check out - we felt everthing around us has one goal - to make our stay in the grand one to be remembered. To our delight this hotel was a success and we would love to stay there again in our next visit to amsterdam

Nice hotel; but not a five star experience. A nice courtyard in the front packed with cars; 2 butlers at the front entrance almost always in deep conversation with one another with sometimes a split second to spare to great you; reception desk with slow check in by people that pick up the phone right in the middle of dealing with you; a hotel room with dust in clearly visible places, a spa area with no one at reception to great and guide you,.... Nothing dramatic for a 3 or 4 star hotel but inexcusable for five stars

A great hotel with convenient location at the very centre near the Dams Square and Red Lights district. Fast room service, all clerks have good command of English. I've noticed no drawbacks at all. Everything they have and they are is the exact way it should be at a five-stars hotel.

the room was very comfortable and when my companion wanted a different pillow there was immediate attention to this detail. When he was taken ill the staff were fantastic and took control of the situation..they were exceptionally professional and showed amazing care to assist us....and were very calm and reassuring in a fraught situation.. Amazing staff!! Beautiful lounge/rooms/breakfast and a beautiful spa and pool. A perfect hotel in every way.........

Location is good, nice building, elegant atmosphere. Room was clean and equipped by new furniture. Twin bed is excellent. Roomservice is five start level. I booked my room with bath, and room was without bath. I asked a receptionist and she said: some of de luxe room has a bath some of them not. This is not fair..

The comfort and cleanliness was excellent. My one complaint is that the building is not easy for accessibility impaired. The doors were always locked and my husband had to search for someone to unlock the one and only accessible door.

The bar and the SPA are excellent Rooms look totally different from what was on pictures at booking.com. Cracked walls, small bathroom and no sofa in deluxe room. Hotel not attentive to guests - they new one of the guests had a birthday and never reacted, while even 2 star hotels send compliments in this case. Very low value for money.

The location and staff are great. The hotel is better than the area in which it is located. Good hotel if your driving, because they have onsite parking, and close to everything. The hotel is an oasis in the aldstadt of Amsterdam. I will go back for the hotel before I would go just to visit Amsterdam without the hotel.

It is a comfortable, peaceful hotel in the heart of Amsterdam where staff make you feel very welcome. The breakfast is wonderful - what we have come to expect of Sofitels everywhere and the spa/leisure facilities just what is needed after a busy day. The real 'treat' is its history; the guided tour of the hotel was fascinating.

Excellent location... 3 min walk from Dam square. Antique building, which makes you feel you are in 17-th century. I didn't like the policy relating to deposit. I've lost my credit card but having plenty of cash I offered them to pay in cash (usd). The problem was the exchange rate (usd to eur) which was far away from the market level (diff about 20%).
