This monumental, renewed building is only 320 yards from the center of the city of Valkenburg. It features a spa area with an indoor pool and the rooms includes free Wi-Fi.

Best Western Hotel Walram is a comfortable, modern and cozy hotel, housed in a typically marlstone building. The hotel is situated at a quiet square on the banks of the small river “De Geul”.

The staff were all helpful and friendly. The facilities were excellent a variety of saunas and a large pool. We have used the spa restaurant in the past which was good, but this time with the good weather we walked into Valkenburg and ate at a restaurant there. The town is close by and interesting. I had a massage which was excellent. The hotel is built into the hill and means you sometimes need to use the lift which runs virtually sideways which is a surprise the first time.
Small annoyance. You have to be aware of which days swimsuits are to be worn and where. Usually swimsuits are worn in the pool area but not in the sauna area. Occasionally swimsuits are worn throughout and very occasionally no swimsuits at all. The changing from no swimsuits to swimsuits is annoying to us. So we either go when it is no swimsuits at all or don't bother with the pool area. A sauna in a swimsuit is not very nice.
Friendly staff, clean facilities, nice room, but some need some upgrading, great sauna/wellness
Expensive parking, swimmingpools are in bathing suits (we were not used to that from our experiences in other wellness/sauna resorts)
The center of Valkenburg is really close, so walk there after spa to enjoy a dinner or a drink.
The property is not really new and may be needs renovation at some point.
Nice spa with a good view.
When we arrived with two kids 2 and 4 years old we had to pay for them even though it says they are for free. They made us feel as if they were NOT welcome. Kids under ten are not welcome in the swimmingpool. I only read rules not facilities and there it said small kids were welcome and free of charge. I suggest the hotel should write they are not welcome. Why pay 220 euros when the cannot use the swimmingpool.
Sauna in a room
Highly recommend this place, I will come back! Spa facilities are great, lots of variety and clean. 10+ types of saunas, several pools, lots of fun spa activities like opgieting included in the entrance fee. Rooms have what you need, stayed in room 15 and it had a recent decor update. Food prices reasonable, nice outdoor areas to eat in the summer with pretty views of the rolling hills. Staff were really sweet & helpful! It is easy to get here with public transport, train to Maastricht then bus that stops right outside of Thermae.
the facilities in general the pool area
room decor and furniture is poor and outdate, no airconditioning , dirty balcony and broken recliner chair , the entire hotel needs face lifting . Room had to be vacated by 11am which is earlier that other hotels . Too expensive for that it is
great food very nice staff very quiet rooms, spacious
the main poolarea is to noisy, to much sounds. feels more like sunparks than a quiet spa center.
Wendy was great at check in and out.
They need to get more lounge chairs on the grass in the nude part so people don't have to "fight"over them and remove the broken chairs.
-the facilities are amazing; the pools, the saunas... all. -the room very comfortable and spatious. -the brasserie for lunch offers good food and afforable -the massages - mainly the shiatsu massage is SUPER
-some of the receptionist were not very helpful -the sauna area is compulsory 'naked'. I was on the point of leaving and i had already on my swimming clothes. A member of the staff came very rudely and asked me to take it off. It was very unpleasant situation. -In general they should give more freedom to users who do not wish to be nude in the sauna areas. -some guest get to 'comfortable' with the possibility of having breakfats with the bathrobe... and forget to put on their swimming clothes... (i had to watch during my breakfats the genitals of the guy next table who did not have his swimming cloths on...!). -the restaurant PURE is a bit too expensive for the food.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Free wifi.
Sauna's very small and very crowded. Some were out of order. No bar in hotel for an evening drink/coffee Parking: said no need to reserve but there was no space when I had reserved one! Balcony very old and tired looking; all concrete and not appealing. A bit expensive.
Room was good, breakfast was good, facilities (sauna, relax) were good.
Of course, you have to pay a lot for all of this quality...
Perfect location, Therme's area is very good, Friendly staff
Boring room's view, Repairment in therme's area, Some equipment is quite old and not clean (solariums for example)
Room at the spa premises. Clean and large room.
Staff in the bread and bites buffet restaurant, amateuristic and inefficient serving. Staff at the breakfast buffet, idem. Everything looks a bit outdated, just about to be worn-out.
Walking to the sauna straight from your hotel room is great! The staff in the sauna is very competent. The hotel restaurant 'Pure' is excellent, definitely recommend it, try to reserve and get the table with a view.
The bathrobe was slightly on the small side and the slippers were not included. The service and selection at breakfast was sub-par. We expected to be wowed but it was mediocre, arriving late means waiting for a table because they are not cleaned up. The food in the sauna restaurants is also not fantastic.
The indoor/outdoor pool is very nice; the restaurant is excellent in food, service, and pricing. The staff was welcoming from the beginning and very helpful.
The room, although spacious, with a nice bed and terrace, was not perfectly clean (especially the carpet and bathroom counter). The bathroom was large but cheaply equipped (products were not quality of a 4 star). The wellness area is under renovation, so it's a bit unfair to criticize, but it's not cozy or easy to get around. It looks like a clinical wellness vs. leisure spa. Also, there is no fitness room!
The room had a small bathroom. The sink had a weird brown stain. There is no wi-fi in the suite. There was no way to make a dinner reservation in the hotel restaurant. 1 night - almost 400 Euro, in all honesty a bit disappointing.
the breakfast was great, everything you want and like (meat, fish, cheese, eggs, fruits, vegetables, etc) the sauna facilities are at high standards
in the room: -a few pieces of the furniture has to be replaced-looked old -the sink was cracked -bubbles from pools outside not work properly
Nice view, many sauna choices, relaxing atmosphere without kids
No restaurants around, too crowded when checking out
Comfortable room Good restaurant
Booking system for treatments is awful. Unless you are already on the spot and there are free slots, they seem unable to provide you with a specific time for your treatment if you book it in advance. They request a wide range availability determined by your expected time of check in and they fix the treatment without informing you on the exact time of it. It resulted impossible to contact them before check-in while on the way to the hotel. There is no phone number in the hotel/thermae page as they just offer option of online contact form, making it difficult to communicate with them in a more immediate way. Very long check in and payment procedure not effective. We had to pay at different time for hotel stay, treatments and last meal at restuarant after queuing three times at the reception. Personnel for maintenance at thermae was walking out of the thermal area then in without wearing adequate overshoes for hygiene. Some of the whirlpools were quite chipped.
Happy with most of my stay - to add specific remarks: It is good that the breakfast is available until 11:00 - you don't have to rush
The breakfast was too busy and not enough people working there - waiting guests were not seated and tables were not cleared. There were not enough plates and they were running out of food. When tables were cleaned they were not cleaned well In the corridor of our room, there were empty glasses and bottles lying around for most of our stay - it did not seem like the staff made sure it was clean. In the room, there should be a better guide to what TV channels there are - you have to click and click and click to go through the whole thing. Bar Delight - a bit limited serving snacks - only certain hours - I really do not want to organize my relaxed day around the specific hours of Bar Delight so I think there should be more choice available. Bar Delight missed Pina Colada on the drinks menu - please add
Breakfast was excellent!
The meal at the hotel restaurant is rather expensive
Total relaxation. Good food. No need to get dressed during tje whole stay - just swim suit (or not, depending on day or if you use sauna area) and a bathrobe and slippers.
Price goes up all the time, no more gym, aquagym or yoga claases (presumably to prevent even higher prices !)
