There's only one word to describe the location of this hotel - amazing. Right out your front door there are two "coffeeshops" and a number of restaurants. The shopping street is on a parallel road and tourist attractions are all within walking distance. Central station is within walking distance too, so commutes to the airport are very convenient. The hotel staff speak perfect English and the hotel serves a decent breakfast. The hotel staff were nice enough to upgrade us to a suite! The rooms were clean. Definitely staying here again because the location is simply amazing for the price paid. There was a pigeon outside which made noises which sounded like sex.

The hotel in general was very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was included in the price and it was ok.The rooms were small but the beds were extemely comfortable and the design of the bathroom was modern. They changed the towels and made the bed every day.The location was perfect (5 min walk to the Central Station and The Red Light District and in the middle of many shops). The only problem with the breakfast was that it was exactly the same every day.I was also a bit disappointed with it as there was only one kind of cheese in the land of cheese! and no cooked food. One thing I found strange was that I stayed for 5 nights but the sheets were never changed and the carpet was never cleaned.

Location Location Location, you will not get a better hotel located for the price we got it for, walking distance to everything! I think it was around 460 euro for double room, for 3 nights bed & breakfast, sounds steep but after alot off research I took it because it was in my budget and alot alot cheaper than other hotels therefore I was a little apprehensive in case it was horrible but couldn't have been more wrong, lovely hotel very clean (i'm fussy) and the beds...omg comfortable!!! Also felt very safe in the area!! Book it!! We travelled without plug adaptors and the ones the hotel provided didn't work, but in fairness we should have took our own!!!!

Friendly and helpfull staff made an otherwise poor hotel just acceptable. Continental buffet breakfast is good with excellent service, but note there is no actual restaurant in the hotel - breakfast only. It is in an excellent location right next to the 'new church' (the cathedral) and good for sightseeing, restaurants, catching trams etc. Room was rather cramped, the lighting was so dim it was next to impossible to read books, maps etc. The view out of the window was of a damp and mouldy 'light well'. Potentially a nice hotel but in need of rennovation. We are getting on a bit and had been warned (by email after booking) that the lift was out of use, the hotel reservations staff had 'guarenteed' us a room on the 1st floor - we did not get it and had to climb many stairs with our baggage - not nice. Be warned that there is no vehicle access to the hotel. Our taxi (50 euros from the airport) dropped us at the end of the road and we had to walk the last 80 meters or so in the rain.

Very helpful staff. The location is very convenient for exploring Jordaans and Spui, the Nieuw Kerk and the Amsterdam Historical Museum. Tram no 2 and no 5 to the museum district are close. When I arrived I walked down from Central Station. Gravenstraat is not easy to find, it's a small narrow lane, although only ten minutes from Central. The easiest way to get there is to walk down Damrak to Dam Square, look for the Nieuw Kirk and turn down the lane.

The location in Dam Square was close to a shopping mall, shops, grocery store, tram tracks, restaurants/pubs, palace, and the Nieuw Kirk. Breakfast was served daily. Complimentary mints, coffee, and apples were available. The staff was friendly and helpful especially with directions to sights. The beds were comfortable. The shower water was hot. Bathroom amenities were provided. The price was great. I always felt safe there.

Our welcome was warm and friendly and the staff couldn't do enough for us! As our room had already been made up, we were allowed to check in early, although we only asked if we could leave our luggage with them until check in time. The location was excellent - and the cafe across the lane from the hotel serves wonderful food.

Stayed there on Sept 11 as a follow-up to our river cruise and were very happy with the choice. For some reason, it was very hard to get a room in Amsterdam for that particular day: many places were fully booked and the ones available were _extremely_ overpriced, so finding this hotel for 175 euros was a bargain, believe it or not! Both, the room and bathroom were clean and of decent size, though the decor's a bit outdated. The bed was not great but certainy ok. We were actually quite happy we didn't get a street view since this whole immediate vicinity around Dam Square has many bars & restaurants where partying goes on late through the night. A breakfast was very good, and the only staff person we dealt with was extremely nice and helpful. Walk to the train station in the morning with all suitecases (to go to the aiport) took only 12-15 minutes.

I booked a single room and Ive got a double room for the same price which it was a nice surprise. The room was on the first floor, quite spaceous and with a window. Also was quiet which is good when you try to sleep. Bed was very comfy. Staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was included in the price and there was fruit, white, wholegrain bread, ham, cheese, etc also milk, yogurt, cereal coffee, tea.Good enough to start the day with something in your stomach before to go out from the hotel. Location was also very good 5-10min walking from central station: great! And easy to find just by following a googlemap I printed. The bathroom was quite small especially the shower. I am a small person so it was not a big deal for me, I managed; but if you are a relatively big person I think you should take it into account.

Very professional and helpful staff.Everyone spoke excellent English, which was most helpful. Dannielle Van Zandt went out of her way to assist us by phone before I arrived and did the same to ensure we had everything we needed while at the hotel. She deserves recognition. Hussein (spelling?) also was very attentive when he was on duty. Breakfast excellent, cozy bar for a nightcap if desired, very close to the main attractions in which we had interest, quiet, clean. It was a very pleasant stay there, albeit just for two days. With Dannielle's help, we fitted in many tours and visits. Our hats off to her. We were hoping not to have to climb stairs (I am 77), but the lift was under repair. However, we were informed of that by email before we arrived so it was not a surprise. We certainly liked everything else.

Great location right around the corner from Dam Square, easy to get anywhere from there: Centraal Station, shopping areas, restaurants. Spacious twin room. Free WiFi in rooms. Breakfast served until 10.30, which is great for leisure travellers. Staying there in December, room was very cold even though we set the heating to the highest temperature. Could be because the window wouldn't close properly and let cold air in. Didn't get towels one of the days although we got some at reception after requesting them later on.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast room was light and modern. The location of the hotel is fantastic. If I had to say anything negative it would be that it is very basic in its facilities for the price.
