Location was in a neighbourhood with many cafes, bars etc - very pleasant - despite the rain. Staff were most helpfull - even extended free breakfast to our joint booking (not normally available to booking.com bookings), early breakfast on departure - no problem etc etc.. Room was very small and located 9 houses removed from the main building.

The hotel decor is truly beautiful - a little bit gothic, dark and sumptuous. Staff were very helpful and friendly and it was a relaxing atmosphere to have as a base whilst exploring Amsterdam. A short walk to bars, restaurants and into Dam Square made it very conveniently placed and I would definitely return. We ordered pizza in one night and it was delicious. There were some minor frustrations with the hotel room. Although sold as a large double - the bed was enormous but the floor space in the room was very limited. The bathroom was also tight for space. There was nowhere to store underwear and the room lacked a dressing table area. Instead a large tv was where a mirror should have been. A lack of flat shelf space in the bathroom meant difficult to put make up on in there too. I would like to see the hotel think about the things a woman needs when getting ready as well as the overall appearance of the room.

The staff were very friendly, spoke impeccable English, and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. In addition, the room was very well appointed.

Very friendly and competent staff. Hotel is very nicely decorated, but perhaps too much for the limited pace. Location is also convenient and (luckily!) in the good part of town. Some of the staff having their dinner in the bar at the same time as guests enjoy drinks. To get a drink, you needed to interrupt the bartender in his meal. -- We did not check out prices of other hotels as our friends had already booked at The Toren, but paying an average of 295 Euros per night for a four star hotel with very limited space is certainly expensive and does not even include breakfast.

Perfect location in the heart of Amsterdam, nice staff at reception at time of check in. Beautiful hotel nicely furnished, great tea/coffee facilities in room, great view on the canal, free baby bed Missing bath mat in the bathroom, had to use a hand towel. Jacuzzi in room a bit anoying after use (still very noisy). Still a bit expensive for what you get though

Staff were very friendly and the location is good We found the Hotel very noisey not in terms of people but sounds from shutting of doors etc.Room standard with canal view was very cramped and had far too much furniture in the room you could hardly walk around the bed.The bathroom was extreamly small. We felt whilst it is a Boutique Hotel is was slighlty overpriced.

The room was beautiful. The bed was super comfortable. The hotel is very close to shopping and within walking distance of most everything. The staff go out of their way to make sure you're happy. There was a misunderstanding on our reservation with respect to breakfast (my fault), and Mr. Toren gave us complimentary breakfast for our 3 day stay, which is unbelievable. We had just come from the Vienna Marriott Hotel and missed a breakfast, paid in advance, due to jet lag and they couldn't have cared less. Robby, the porter, was super helpful; Yasar was fantastic at making latte's; and the lady in the kitchen cooked the best breakfast ever! The reception staff couldn't be more helpful. They'll even do your boarding pass for you. We stayed at the Toren because of the reviews we read online and we weren't disappointed. Absolutely no complaints at all!

The hotel is in a very nice area and is stylish in an over the top sort of way. The Royal Suite that we stayed in is quite large and very comforable. Also the room service was the fastest of any where I have stayed. I felt that the reception area was not a very good first impression of the hotel as it was a bit sloppy looking and the receptionists were not friendly or welcoming. We were staying five nights in the largest and most expensive room in the hotel and were treated as if we were last minute guests staying in the cheapest room. Other hotels of this level and lower have far more warm reception treatment.

Rooms quiet and comfortable. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Bar and breakfast room pleasant and comfortable. The location is exceedingly good for enjoying a quieter Amsterdam-although there are plenty of interesting restaurants and night spots nearby. Really can't think of anything important - okay, perhaps that lighting is dim where reading or shaving. Very romantic, mind you, but difficult to find a nose hair or brush teeth.

The staff were so helpful and the surroundings very relaxing. It was close to all we wanted to do and see - it was perfect for us. The breakfast was reasonably priced and of high quality. If I have to think of one thing we did not like - it was the fact we were in an annex along the street. I had not been told of this and it was slightly less convenient than being in the main hotel. However, the room was great - just a bit of a walk for breakfast.

We were there for a night as part of a holida and when booking I mentioned it was our wedding anniversary and husbands 50th birthday. This was remembered with a bottle of champagne, strawberries and chocolates and staff were wonderful. We will definitely be back again and to have a longer say as we are regularly in Holland for family and always enjoy a few days in Amsterdam. Than you very much Christine de Vos tot Nederveen Cappel

The old European decor is beautiful. Location is great, quiet, but not too far to walk to shops & restaurants. Moldy room. With allergies, I could not breathe, got quite sick over 2 days. I had to have all the bedding removed, and sleep with the window open on cold nights. Room service options are poor.

The staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was stylish and clean and the location was in the centre of the city near to the tram and main attractions. The toilet area was a bit small and we were in an annex building up the street but to be honest there were no major issues at all.

Super friendly staff, excellent rooms and decor, very luxourious in feeling for a boutique hotel. We'd stay again! Breakfast was pricey. In fact, we didn't have it at the hotel it was too over priced.
