Paula and Jan were wonderful. Lots of info about the city sights and restaurant suggestions. Location was perfect, close to museums, transit and right on the canal. Great breakfast every morning with the best fresh squeezed orange juice.
We had the family room that overlooks the canal. Great view and wonderful room with 2 separate living spaces - one for my husband and I and one for our daughter. The owners are gracious and very helpful. Really enjoyed our stay.
location, the room was beautiful and the bathroom had a nice big tub
Location was very good. Close to Museums, resturants and canal cruise boats. Also, breakfast served by Paula was excellent.
Property and furnishing are very tired and in disrepair. I booked 2 seperate rooms and both required climbing very steep and narrow stairs.
Great accommodation in the suite overlooking the canal, beware of the steps. Great location for exploring Amsterdam, close to canal, bus and tram stops. Wonderful hospitality, breakfast was a great start to the day.
The place was amazing! Balcony over the canal. Hostess could not have been more friendly and helpful. Tea and drinks in the room when we arrived. The bed was large and comfortable.
Street could get noisy at times but you will have this problem all over Amsterdam.
We stayed in the canal view suite and it was absolutely stunning. The accomodation is very spacious giving you enough space to just lounge around after a long day exploring the narrow alleyways of Amsterdam. It is well furnished, very cosy and has a lot of character. The view of the canal is truely spectacular. Paula and Jan are fantastic hosts and always took the time to talk to us and gave us useful insider tips on how to explore Amsterdam beyond the usual mainstream touristic attractions. A real 10/10!
Great location, friendly staff, welcoming us with complementary beer in the fridge and wine. Great local recommendations through concierge app.
Rather slow internet, older equipment, can hear neighbours at night, thin walls.... but it's part of the BandB charm.
friendly, location. They not only storred our bags for us, while our room was being made up, they gave us a precise time when the room would be ready. She also spent a good deal of time when we first arrived going over what to see, and how to get around in Amsterdam. I would recommend this location to anyone!
Everything Friendly staff Home from home Garden with our room Tea & coffee Spacious Safe Perfect location
Nothing at all
Myself and my husband just spent 3 wonderful nights in Tulipa B&B in Amsterdam. Paula had contacted us before our arrival and gave us excellent directions. We got the 197 bus from the airport, at €5 each was very reasonable and dropped us about 2minutes walk from the Tulipa. Based in a quiet location, overlooking the canal, everything within walking distance. We were welcomed by Jan and he was very helpful with tips on the best places to visit . We had the garden view suite and we were delighted with our accommodation. We had our own sitting room, with television, fridge and complimentary drink. There was also tea/coffee making facility. A spiral stair which led down to our bedroom and ensuite(with shower and bath), with a lovely tranquil view of the garden. We had a great nights sleep in the most comfortable bed. On our second day after visiting the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum we spent our afternoon at the Brouwerij 't IJ a small brewery windmill, recommended by Jan, and had a few sample beers. Well worth a visit. Another tip from Jan was Zaanse Schans. A small village on the banks of the River Zaan with working windmills. We took the 391 bus from Amsterdam Central station, the bus is every 15 minutes and takes under an hour. The bus stopped right outside Zaanse Schans. It was amazing to see so many working windmills and we could walk around at our leisure. You could go into the windmills. There was also a cheese farm on site. An excellent day out. Breakfast, served by Paula, was just excellent and really set us up for the day. Such a variety: cereals, juice, cheese platter, fruit salad. The scrambled egg with salmon was delicious. We had a 6am departure on our final day, as we would miss breakfast, Paula left a breakfast tray in our room. Did not expect that, but it was very much appreciated. We couldn't fault anything with the Tulipa. If visiting Amsterdam again will definitely stay at Tulipa. Thanks Paula and Jan for your hospitality :)
Location, lots of restaurants within five minute walk and close to tram line.
The location is good, being just off the main shopping and eating areas. The rooms were spacious, with a separate sitting area with a TV, and a dining table with chairs.
The room we stayed in, wasn't the one we were expecting. The large suite with canal view, which we stayed in, is not mentioned on the B&B's own website, but the suite with canal view is. It was the latter room we were expecting, with a balcony looking out over the canal. The 'free' mini bar was empty on arrival, and stayed empty for our entire stay.
Fantastic location with wonderful hosts who were very welcoming and so helpful in making our stay terrific. Our room was big with views over the canals, comfy bed and great bathroom. Will definitely try and stay there on future trips.
Great hotel location, two minutes walk from Leidseplein, very nice hosts. The room (apartment) we stayed was very big and nice, very well furnished and exactly as shawn in the photos. The bed was great. The bathroom was modern style and og course clean though, not as good as the room it self.
Location, host, privacy of the garden apartment, coziness of the garden apartment...it was cozy yet spacious with lots of light in both bedrooms. The accessibility of the host.
Did not like the separation of the shower and the toilet. I prefer to have the toilet and shower facilities in one location. The kitchen needs a little more lighting
Great welcome from Paula and Jan with loads of useful information about the city. Very central location and easy transfer from the airport. Easy walk to all main tourist attractions. Immaculate room with canal view and could not recommend this B and B highly enough.
The hosts were fantastic as was the location for sightseeing. Breakfast was amazing! The bed was comfortable and a good size.
Our room was very noisy especially on Saturday night when our neighbours talked loudly until 5:30am. Other guests also complained about the noise. The furniture in our sitting room did not match that shown on the internet and was not comfortable. There was a coffee machine but no milk. The free mini bar consisted of two cans of beer, water and a half bottle of wine. The exhaust fan did not work in the bathroom and bathroom supplies were extremely limited and not replaced. Some of these things may seem trivial but to deserve a 9.3 rating these issues should not have arisen.
Everything!!! Stylish room, pleasant, private and very confortable, near the museums. A incredible view of the canals from the room. We loved Tulipa, it was our home away from home... We could't have asked for any more. Friendly hospitality of the owner.
The hosts Paula and Jan were very friendly and helpful. Our room on the first floor overlooking 2 canals was delightful. Fabulous freshly prepared breakfasts.
Lateness of breakfast 7.30 would have been preferable. NB no lift so ask for lower level room if stairs are a problem.
Near public transit, canals and museums. Hosts went out of their way to be helpful. Provided fan during an unusually hot period. Lovely breakfast.
Location Owner was so friendly and helpful nice having an apartment and space Clean and roomy Homemade breakfast
felt a little like we were living in the basement of someones home only one bathroom - although we made do lack of plugs near mirror for getting ready
Room was very large, roomy, well appointed and comfortable. The 3 children enjoyed the room as did we, lots of your own space. Access 24/7, easy to bring in the suit cases, safe location with 5 minute access to shops and restaurants, canals, site seeing and buses. Great view of the canal through 2 large windows. Free WIFI. A feel of comfortable homely Amsterdam.
The bathroom was a little small, with the toilet to close to the wall / towel heater. Hot water in the shower when the others room water is used changes to scalding hot in a split second, no soap dish in the shower.
Location, excellent breakfasts and very helpful owners.
