I liked very much the hospitality of Paula, who provided us with a very warm welcome and a great breakfast very early in the morning, some hours before the check-in time. She also gave us very good tips on restaurants and things to do in Amsterdam. The location and the facilities are also great. I think that the hotel is overpriced, although everything in Amsterdam seems to be overpriced for me.

Wonderful brekfasts prepared by Paula and Jan. They also gave a small, but concise briefing of the spots we could visit in our short time in Amsterdam. Fantastic hosts!

The owners were great, very friendly and warm. We looked forward to the excellent breakfast every morning. It was a very relaxed atmosphere, the best bit was the very large comfortable bed. All our needs were met without fuss and with a smile, including use of the internet. All the tips and advice we were given was very helpfull I am a very fussy person but I could not find anything to complain about. We will be recommending Tulipa to our friends and family. It deserves it's 5 star rating from tripadvisor, Marion and John - October 2011

Good little hotel (just 3 rooms) right on one of the Amsterdam's channels. Clean big rooms (we had a little balcony with excellent channel-view). This side of Amsterdam is quiet and not so crowded as near the Dam. Amsterdam's hotels are among the most expensive in Europe

Our hosts Jan and Paula wre simply wonderful and had a very detailed knowledge of how to get around and book things online in Amsterdam. Paula's breakfasts are now legendary - wholesome, plentiful, delicious and with so much variety. Our room overlooking the canal was simply stunning and most spacious. Altogether a marvellos experience!

Central location hospitable owner Paula who was prompt reply to emails and giving extra information on where to go and how to get around. Steep solid wrought iron stairs leading to bedroom downstairs- dangerous in my opinion for anyone tipsy or with disabilities. I may be wrong but don't remember this being mentioned. The photos need to stress the fact that the living room is separate from the bedroom which is in the basement. pricey in my opinion - then again it appears to be the price of things over there

Absolutely fabulous stay. The personalised attention given by Paula to each of her guests in this very small, luxury bed and breakfast, is wonderful. Having stayed in the garden suite, with its own living room, we both felt that we had a home on a canal for the weekend. Extending our stay by another day was smoothly arranged. And finding freshly cut fruits and yoghurt in the minibar for our 5am departure, was a pleasant example of the extra mile Tulipa's owners will go to make sure your stay is just perfect.

...Like visiting friends! We felt perfectly at home at Tulipa and could experience how it would be to actually live in Amsterdam- something that never happens in a big hotel. The breakfast was superb, the room big and tidy, as was the bathroom. The only thing one could maybe complain about : as it is not a new hotel but a super-nice "normal" building, the walls and doors are not "soundproof"- if you are sensitive to that you might have slight complaints- but I use as many subjunctives as possible as we really enjoyed our stay a lot!

Attention and contact by owners was very good and personalized. I was made as though I was at home. I thought the price quality ratio wasn't optimum. Although room and bathroom were of good layout and size, one could hear people in adjacent room talk, caugh etc. I was lucky as people were quiet and early sleepers. Garden view was positive thinking, yet there was good light in the room.

The Tulipa is a very nice and central little bed and breakfast location. The hosts Jan and Paula are very gentle and always doing their best to make it as comfortable as possible. The room has a nice style with modern furnuture and a new and comfortable bathroom. It is located in the city center close to Leidseplein with a lot of bars and good transport connection.

I travel weekly for work and monthly for fun, the Tulipa Bed & Breakfast is a great weekend get-a-way in Amsterdam (we flew from Miami) and actually stayed 4-nights....Paula, the owner, and her husband and very nice people and really have a great thing going, excellent breakfast very filling (we skipped lunch every day), great suggestions on places to go, eat, play tourist, etc.......the location is amazing, 1 simple bus ride from the airport, and less than a 1 block walk to the tram, bus, and shopping. Very safe area, very clean, exceptional suite room, we loved it and plan to go back in 2012.

The room was large and comfortable. The ensuite was enormous. A coffee machine is provided and also there was complementary wine and beer. The location was delightful. The hosts were very helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms are up a steep narrow staircase but the host took our luggage up and down for us. The hosts are a little regimented. We had to be precise about the time for breakfast and our arrival time.

My husband and I stayed in the Canal View room for 2 nights. The room was spacious and beautiful, with a wall of windows overlooking the canal, a huge comfortable bed, hardwood floors, and complementary wine and coffee in the room. The bathroom was also full of light and spacious with a rain showerhead and a huge tub. We loved our room! The breakfasts were also delicious - freshly made eggs or pancakes, fresh fruit, cereal, bread, cheese, yogurt etc. The location was excellent - we walked to the museums, Ann Frank House, restaurants, and even to the Red Light Dist (long walk). We took bus # 197 from Schipol - the bus runs every 15 mins and stops 1 block from the inn (4 Euro/30 min ride). Best of all were the hosts - Paula and Jan. They took care of us as if were guests in their home. We arrived at Tulipa before checkin time, and Paula offered us coffee and tea, let us store our bags before checkin, set us up with maps and restaurant recommendations. She obtained online tickets for us for the Van Gogh museum, and gave us excellent advice about the Ann Frank Museum. Both Paula and Jan went out of their way to make us comfortable. One day we were walking around and a bit lost - Jan saw us from their home and both Paula and Jan came out and gave us directions and made dinner reservations for us for that night for a wonderful rijstafel. We absolutely loved our stay at Tulipa Inn. We loved the inn, the location, and the propietors. A caution for some folks may be the steep stairs to the room, which are expected for a canal house. However Jan carried our bags and we got used to the stairs quickly

The owners, Paula and Jan, are wonderful people!! Upon our arrival late at night to Tulipa, Jan took the time to explain to us the attractions in Amsterdam and even recommended good restaurants for us to visit. I was also traveling with morning sickness and Paula was kind enough to prepare breakfast that would suit my appetite each morning. I also like the fact that they are very considerate and will offer families with young children to stay together in the same room, instead of traditional hotels which would put 4 people into 2 rooms in most cases. The location was perfect, the bus from the airport will take you there in half an hour. Nearby were plenty of restaurants and trams no. 1, 2 and 5 would take you to the Central Station. We would definitely choose to stay with Tulipa again in the fuure, hopefully with our children too!
