Van der Valk Schiphol is a 10 minute drive from Schiphol Airport and 13 miles from Amsterdam. Guests benefit from the free shuttle service and free on-site parking during their stay. Both the hotel and the room were clean and comfortable. The hotel has a restaurant, bar and swimming pool. There are also several places to eat at the services just across the car park. Right on the motorway, so convienient for road access. There is a large carpark and free bus to the airport which is about 15 minutes away. Expected a lot of noise from the motorway and airport but no problems. There were no tea and coffee facilities in the room, which was really dissapointing as it ment a trip to the bar or across the road to the services for a drink. There were venting machines throughout the hotel providing drinks and snacks but most seemed empty and those which weren't did not seem to dispense the items requested. All the rooms were accessed via the floor above reception, we had a ground floor room which ment a climb up the outside steps to reach reception then another climb up the stairs or trip in the elevator to the floor above, a walk through the large upstairs lobby to a key controlled door and then back down two floors to our room. A good security measure but hard work with a small child and luggage. There is a lot of building work just outside so we were unable to use the small terrace as it backed straight onto the bulding site.

We chose it because of price and proximity to the airport. It is a beautiful hotel with spacious, comfortable rooms. We also chose it because of the free shuttle service to the airport since we were just laying over in Amsterdam on our way back to the US. It wasn't clear on the website that the shuttle service was also from the airport to the hotel. We spent a lot of money on a cab getting to the hotel when we first arrived.

Nothing to like, had a miserable stay The most disappointing hotel I have ever stayed in. I booked the "Top Secret Suite" several weeks in advance & asked at the time of booking for a shuttle pickup & was told no problem. 1) shuttle driver was rude & said there was no room for our luggage 2) Top Secret Suite non smoking selled like an ashtray, 3) they moved us to another room where they just sprayed the moom with perfume and within 2 hours it also was smoke infested. 4) Hot tub did not work. 5) Room was dirty 6) staff was rude 7) No help with bags or even a cart{intl' flight 3 bags and 2 carry ons} 8) to get to the room you have to go up one elevator, go across a room to another elevator and up that elevator and then down 2 halls{ridiculous} 9)Overpriced tasteless breakfast 10) no shuttle available to return to airport. There was not a single ting good I could say about the hotel and a lot more bad that I could say

The easy access by shuttle bus to and from Schiphol Airport to catch other bus services to tourist destinations (Keukenhof) and the train from Schiphol into Amsterdam itself. Although there was a good selection at breakfast, I thought it was quite expensive and there wasn't a large enough range of other places nearby to eat - either fast food or restaurants with menus in dutch and the food here was also expensive.

The hotel was exactly what we were looking for as a stop over between flights, and although we only stayed for one night, the facilities and staff were excellent!

The food at the restaurant was excellent- especially the dinner menu - service too was exemplary, despite a large contingent of conference patrons. The rooms were not quite up to the standard that we would have expected for such an impressive entrance and general facilities.

conveniance to the airport for next day departure, great vbreakfast worse the money Hotel needs to be upgraded, outdated decor in lobby , restaurant and bar.Rooms are botherline , specially the carpet that really needs to be replaced.

Almost nothing Lunch service almost doesn't exist unless a buffet lunch is taken; otherwise a long time is needed to be served. There's no any facility to have just a cup of coffee or a small snack during day time. The personnel doesn't trust anyone and requires your visiting card for any service. Reception makes you paying for the room straight upon arrival without saying you a word. The barman annoyed our group of 3 guys with his political speeches while we were discussing our own business and showed him a couple of times in a polite way that we didn't want him to join us. There are many other choices at Schiphol and I wouldn't recommend anybody this hotel,

The location inrelation to Schiphol. Free transport by bus. On Tuesday the driver of the 8.40 bus was not very helpful. I had to ask him to put my heavy bagage into the bus bagage hold. He did it, but kicked my bagage in place. I was unableto make international calls, even after many requests. The food was not very tasty ( sliptongetjes ).

We stayed between flights. Arrived late left early. The price was good, the location was close to the airport, selling point was the shutle bus from the airport. Room was huge which was great cos we had 2 kids with us. Didn't even look around the hotel so I really can't say if the facilities were any good we didn't even have breakfast there. Perhaps a restaurant menu could be placed in the room instead of just the room service menu. Then you know prices of the restuarant before you go there. We may have had breakfast before leaving if we had know what was available in the restuarant. Thanks

The entrance and hotel lobby were very nicely decorated. The TV didn't work properly. the room was far and difficult to locate. The kitchen was closed and the food I ordered was not available. The reception staff were very slow and not very attentive to the guests (I had to wait nearly ten minutes to check in, though there was only one person ahead of me in cue). The receptionist gave wrong directions to the locate the room.

Lovely modern rooms. Free shuttle from airport kfc close by if you have kids with you to keep happy.. Swimmingpool changing room was small & crowded. Not everyone likes to change in an open room. Not enough information on where to put your belongings or enough safetydeposits for number of people using the pool and spa.Should have someone at reception desk of spa area to give information. They need bigger changing area with a few cubbicles for privacy as the door t the pool gives no privacy.

The room we had was really well cleaned and maintained, and had an outdoor garden setting. The decor in the reception and bar areas was oustanding, especially the open log fire and the grand piano. There was a regular free shuttle to/from the airport which made the distance from the terminal easier to cope with. We only stayed one night due to flight transfers. Would loved to have stayed longer and experienced more of what they have to offer. The only drawback is the distance from the airport, which is solved by the shuttle except if there is a traffic hold-up on the motor-way, so allow extra time to get there in case this happens.

The location to the Airport is excellent. From there you can take the train into Amsterdam. It is easy to reach from the motorway and it is a good alternative to a hotel in Amsterdam. Train into the city takes 15 minutes from the airport. They were building the kitchen so menu was limited. For vegetarians not so much choice. You had to pay Euro7.50 Per night for a baby bed which is the first time we paid for this.
