Rather noisy in the reception area. Downstairs childrens party !!! Music in the Bar too noisy for conversation.

Our four-person room was huge. It was #531. The kids enjoyed the pool and it was well located to go into Amsterdam as well as drive out to Keukenhof.

No hair conditioner in a 4 star hotel? Also, the restaurant was dimly lit, even at breakfast. The rooms were also dim and need to be upgraded with more electrical outlets. I had to unplug the lamp by the bed to use my computer in bed.

The hotel is conveniently located to Schiphol airport, the room was clean and roomy.

We are used to having a porter bring lugage into the hotel for us. We are seniors and had heavy suitcases because we had just finished a Viking River Boat cruise having been gone from home for 3 weeks.

The hotel was in a great location for the airport and the centre. They have a free shuttle bus to the airport. The hotel was clean and comfy and good value for money. There was no noise from the out side.

Breakfast was expensive at 15.00 euros each. During the night you could here doors banging throught the night.

Clean and comfortable hotel, easy access to the airport and city center, spa and swimming pool are good for relaxing after work or day trips. Rich breakfast, and also lot of different restaurants nearby.

Fast check-in. Kind people. Good breakfast and dinner. Bus shuttle to Airport and continue train possibilities transportation to Amsterdam down town

the long waiting "gap" it takes the shuttle to arrive to the airport and to leave from Van der Valk, reasonable prices for staying at the hotel are not very frequent most of the time it is expensive...appreciate having more periods of "reasonable pricing"

Ideal for airport hotel. Large and clean family room. Nice indoor swimming pool. Free shuttle to the airport worth waiting for since taxis are very expensive.

Loved the spa facility and swimming pool was a real delight for the kids.

The shower in our room was disappointing, the rest of the room and bathroom was luxurious but the shower was very poor in comparison, pokey & small, the shower head was dreadful compared to the rest of the bathrooms facilities - although there was plenty of hot water!! Tv channel selection was poor and the extra you had to pay for more channels was a little excessive when you take into the room costs, same goes with the lack of tea/coffee facilities in the room, and the vending machines were pricey!!

Staff was very polite and efficient, check in despite a full bus load of people went very smoothly. Comfortable beds, nice decor. Easy bus ride from Shiphol airport, I would stay again but request a room on the outside away from the lounges. Great price though.

Very odd layout to hotel, you take the elevator up one floor then cross a large room, round a corner to another elevator to get up to the top floor. I stayed in 811 and it was on the 4th floor. There were many double doors to traverse, so if you require assistance this isn't the hotel for you, no bell service. As others mentioned, the hallways and lounge is noisy, paper thin walls, not recommended for a light sleeper unless you request a quite outside room. Oh, I was greeted by about 12 people huddled around the entrance to the hotel smoking!

Excellent restaurant (dinner) and very helpful and pleasant waiters and waitresses. Good facilities (PC available free, and car parking free)

I had the most unpleasant row with the General Manager, who was most unhelpful. On checking-in on arrival I gave my credit card and paid my bill for the three days. When the first evening I asked for drinks that I purchased at the bar to be charged to my room, this was refused (he wanted cash) on the grounds that my credit card details had - because I had paid - been removed from the system. I therefore asked for them to bring the credit card machine to my table. The barman refused to do this - saying that I had to go to reception to 'open-up' my credit card again. I insisted on speaking to the manager. Finally, after much argument, the General Manager came to our table in the bar. He also refused to bring a credit card machine to our table. Finally, after I threatened calling the police, he did bring it to our table. He said that I would have to put in €100 to give me a 'credit'. Finally I accepted to put in €50. When the payment slip appeared (with the €50 charge) he said that the machine ahd not worked - and I would have to go to reception to do it again! I refused and went with my two friends into the dining room - saying that I would pay for the drinks on my restaurant bill. The General manager was most rude, and instructed the restaurant staff not to give us a table. Finally, when I said again that I would call the police, he accepted that I would pay on my creditcard all together. Then, he came back (immediately) with two policemen - who had been sitting at a far-off table receiving coffee etc. They were embarrassed, and asked me to go to reception to open up my card again. There was an enormous queue of arrivals at reception, and I again refused. The police left when I said again that I would pay for my drinks with the dinner bill on my cedit card. Interestingly, the credit card machine in the restaurant (my bill included my pre-dinner drink) was next to our table.

Reception and restaurant staff friendly and helpful. Good, large rooms, balcony great for keeping food cold in winter. Free wifi easy to access and reliable.

No fridge or kettle in the room. No moisturiser.

Would recommend it for a last night in Amsterdam due to the fact it's close to the airport it's a good deal , big hotel, reception staff need some social skills!
