Hotel Waalwijk  

We went to the area to see the tulips, but the hotels near Lisse were very expensive (250€ and up). We decided to stay here, and drive the little over one hour the next morning. The room was very comfortable (quad room; 2 adults and two teenaged children) for our family; larger than other hotel rooms for four in which we stayed. The beds were actual beds for the children, and not pull-out chairs or couches--very comfortable and we could have even slept one more comfortably. The bathroom was quite large (by European standards) with a full tub and a separate shower. The hotel is only a 10 min walk (mainly on pedestrian only zone) to the city center of Waalwijk--very clean, friendly, and easy to get there. There is plenty of shopping on the street, and a few restaurants (but not many on which we could find reviews!). The hotel is nicely decorated with unique and interesting art by a local, who was also seen giving classes in the hotel on Saturday and Sunday. The staff is excellent and very helpful. Free parking and we had WiFi included. Breakfast was very solid (great, strong coffee) but not spectacular. It had a smaller selection of meats and cheeses than other places in Europe where we have stayed, but they did also have scrambled eggs and bacon. I would recommend more meats and cheeses and additional fruit offerings. All in all, a nice hotel for this trip and wonderful for families--we would definitely stay there again!

The quad room that we had backed up against the elevator, which was not so smooth running (to ride in or to hear), and it banged around. Fortunately, it seemed that nobody used it after about 2300. Fix the elevator for a smoother, quieter ride for those in the elevator and those in adjacent rooms. The hotel was busy and we went to breakfast right after a tour group left. Still, we had to pick through the plates and silverware to find some that were totally clean. Perhaps a new and more powerful dishwasher is in order.

Smoking guests leaving their marks in the hotel. Old equipment appears as not clean (bathroom, room equipment, carpets in the room and corridor) but it probably is clean.

Great location for Efteling trip - easy drive into the park - 10 euros to park or can get the bus (136 or 137 via Tilburg) for 6 euros. staff very helpful - restaurant is posh and slightly over priced but they have no problem if you order a couple of side dishes instead of the more expensive mains. Breakfast great, room a good size, no AC though but they did provide a fan.

The service of the staff was wonderful. Nothing was ever a problem . Originally had booked a family room which was in the older part of the hotel and definately not to the same decor and standards of the newer part of the hotel. Changed to interconnecting rooms as we have older children. This not only gave us more space, the rooms were much better with updated decor and furnishings and appeared cleaner and fresher. The service of the staff especially those at the reception and at the restaurant/bar was explarary, nothing was ever a problem and they went out of their way to accomodate our needs, made us feel very much at home and welcome at the hotel. Would definately stay at the same hotel again but would only book interconnecting rooms.

The family rooms were in need of upgrading. They appeared tired and worn and had little space for a family. Interconnecting rooms were a much better option.

There is no one thing that was best. Everything about the Hotel was excellent. We would highly recommend it to others, and we intend to use it for our next trip visiting relatives in Holland. It was an ideal base for us to visit Eferling, Beekse Bergen and relatives in Waspik and Raamsdonksveer, and for a family wedding in Den Bosch. Look forward to staying at the Hotel Waalwijk again very soon.

The bathroom in the room we stayed clearly needed some urgent refurbishment...

Clean and bright. Hotel staff helpful. Food good quality and quantity. Comfortable beds. We had a quadruple (four singles) and there was still plenty of space in the bedroom.

Bathroom spacious but as it is rectangular in shape, with window only at one end, it needs a strong extractor at the other end. Some of the rooms on the second floor are not served by the lift, so it is necessary to carry luggage up and down several short flights of stairs.

I liked that it was a pleasant place that was a little removed from all of the commotion of the conference I attended at Efteling. It was clean, had lots of room, and was efficiently run.

I wish it had been a little easier to get around by bus.

These hotel was fantastic, great beds and delicious food in restaurant. Staff very friendly, I would recommend this hotel for everyone and if I will be next time in Netherlands I will stay again in this hotel.

The hotel lgihts were awesome. The breakfast is one of the best that I've had in a while a good start to the day.

Goede ligging tov het centrum van Waalwijk, het wandelpark maar ook grotere steden zoals den bosch en Tilburg. Wij verbleven er voor een EK tournooi in de maaspoort in den bosch. Uniek design door de aanwezige kunstwerken. Gratis parking met camerabewaking. Rustige accomodatie, geen geluidsoverlast. Geen aanbetaling vooraf en gratis annulering tot 24 uur voor aankomst mogelijk

gratis internetverbinding werkte niet, verschillende kwaliteit in bedden en hoofdkussens op de kamer. Ontbijt zeker ok maar niet vier sterren waardig; basic met enkele warme producten als ei en bacon maar we misten enkele extra's die je in andere vier sterren hotels wel vind bv. gerookte vis, poffertjes, een koffiekoek, fruityoghurt, een salade voor op de boterham, franse kazen... Er is ook geen welness, roomservice, kluis op kamer of zwembad: dus vanwaar de vier sterren?
