Hotel de Westertoren  

I had read the reviews before booking and I have to say the hotel was all I was looking for! The location is great, 15 minutes walking from the train station. Breakfast in the room was also very good, and everything was really clean. The staff go the extra mile to make you feel like at home. I was trying to find a hotel in the city centre that wouldn't be very expensive and this was a great choice. It's a small hotel but if you are after a clean, safe and well-located place to stay, as well as friendly staff, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I knew about the stairs from the previous comments so brought a rucksack instead of a suitcase and was ok with it as it was 3 floors by the stairs. But to me it wasn't a problem

Warm reception, nice staff to chat, joke with. Towels changed, room cleaned every day. Good breakfast, not huge variaty but for us it was satisfactory and enough food. Room No 4 was a light room - big windows, high cieling. We liked to hear church bells. The room was quiet - no noice from the street, no noice from the hotel, though one could suspect that the walls aren/t very thick. Free and good speed internet. We even liked the steep stairs! Attitude is one more thing we liked. One morning we asked for additional stick of coffee and we received some seven. And after we came to the hotel in the afternoon, we found a big supplemet of coffe. That was something that exceeded our expectations.

Actually there was nothing we disliked. However, depending on who is staying, attention should be paid to walls which aren't too thick and to the windows which won't close completely, so if it's wintertime, a bed by the window might be a too cold and windy place to sleep.

At the City Center and is near to most of the locations in the City.

This hotel guy is a cheat. Although we paid 270 Euros to the Hotel during check-in with the Travel card, he had charged us 150 Euros to the Credit card which was used for booking. When we raised this issue with the hotel and booking.com, the hotel guy gave a fake bill of 125 Euros for Plumber charges. One thing is for sure "PLEASE stay away from this HOTEL". I am very much unsatisfied both with the hotel and booking.com. This is the first time this type of charge has been charged during my 30 days Europe trip. I want my money back charged my credit card.

Friendly staffs, great location

Heating is broken; a little noisy when bus cross street.

The staff were really friendly and cheery, always very happy to assist. The room was just what we needed for five girls and we were happily surprised by the amount of space we had. We would very happily stay there again.

Everything seemed perfectly clean and the sheets and towels were washed during our stay but they may have used detergent that was irritable to our skin as eczema flared up on my face during my skin and a few of my friends experienced minor issues with their skin in places. Not dirty just perhaps not sensitive skin friendly, in our case at least not.

The location near by Amsterdam Centraal,and the comments from others helped us out to book this hotel, good breakfast and the guys at from desk were very kind

- Small room size (if you have too much luggage you'd be in trouble) - Steep long stairs (if you have too much luggage or you're not in good health you'd be in trouble) - Occasionally smelt neighbour smoking

The hotel has been very nice! The position is perfect very near to plaza Dam. The staff is very friendly and patient. And they try to help you in every way. The best things are the position and also the breackfast in the room because there is also toast that you can keep for the lunch time.

The only thing that is no good are the stair , a lot of stair! But anyway in all than hotel in amsterdam there are that.

Cannot recommend this hotel enough. The staff are so welcoming, they even helped me lug my huge suitcase up those cliff-like stairs. Breakfast is simple and brought to your room. Great location, pretty close to Anne Frank's house.

the hotel was in an excellent location and was very clean didnt expect the room to be cleaned the next morning as we were only staying for 2 nights and fresh towels given also

our room was on the top floor and had many steep stairs up to it but didnt mind as many hotels are like this in amsterdam kept us fit!

The location is excellent, very close to the Dam square and a walk distance to most of sites of interest. It is a charming historic building. Breakfast is fair and it is served in the rooms.

The bad thing regarding the hotel was the stairs.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, every morning coming with breakfast and the room was cleaned no matter what time we left the room at, it was also a brilliant location, close to everything! If I was going back to Amsterdam I would definitely stay here again :)

The location was perfect for sight-seeing. To be honest, I really did not expect it to be so good with the low price we paid for the two nights we stayed there. Also breakfast was good, I.E. bread, jam, ham and cheese that were brought to the room in the morning. Since it was pretty cold in Amsterdam, it was nice to have water-boiler to prepare tea in the evenings. The staff was also very helpful. We also loved the view to the courtyard!

The only negative thing is the steep stairs, but it is not such a big deal and it is common in Amsterdam. Also the walls are thin, but it as it was very quiet at the hotel, it didn't bother us.

...absolutely ideal location, close to all amenities in Amsterdam...very comfortable room size & internal facilities...very friendly, supportive and always helpful staff, throughout my stay...will definitely be back here, whenever back in Amsterdam...cannot recommend the place enough to anyone reading this & the value you get for your money is top-notch, no doubts withstanding...

...there's nothing I didn't like about Hotel de Westertoren...it's easy to make a point about the stairs, like a lot of guests already have, but in all fairness you just get on with it and you'll be absolutely fine, no problem whatsoever...

Clean towels and sheets every day and nice warm water every morning,also handy drinks machine next to room

Staff was very kind and room very nice. The hotel is in perfect position if you want to visit the downtown because it's very close to Dam square. Everyday the rooms are clean and provided of everything you need, like towels, tea, coffee etc. Perfect holidays.

The location was amazing, the staff was friendly.

The single bed might be too small for some Europeans, although it fit me well as an Asian.

I liked the price, I liked the location for visiting the Anne Frank House. The staff was wonderful! They helped us out alot. The duvets. We left too early for the breakfast so can't comment on that. It was nice they had a fridge but we didn't use it. Liked coffee in the room.

The steep staircase, had we been over 50 we would have had a hard time with it! No elevator. It was super tiny. The shower water was hard to regulate. The room we had was right on the street so it was very noisy and very hot even though it was December and the window was open about 8 inches.

Great position - handy to everything. Staff are very helpfull. Breakfast (light) is great for the price.

The front steps are a killer but it is Amsterdam! The bathroom was a little too small.
