Small, clean, with a little charm in a city where other hotels have none.

Excellent location, big buffet breakfast choice, helpful staff, free wi-fi, would definitely stay here again. Wi-fi, although free, suffered from frequent drop-outs on the top floor.

Apart from the convenience, really close to the tourist information/booking office and tour pick up points as well as the harbour and city centre, as a smaller family run hotel it was friendly, with things like tea/coffee available at any time - great coming in at midnight after a tour for the aurora, or after a strenuous walk on the hills or around the city - and do it yourself waffles in the affternoon. Also having a nice buffet available before going out for an evening excursion was very convenient. The instructions for making waffles were only in Norwegian, which was awkward and lead to overfilling of the machine and subsequent spilling of the waffle mixture. This was not something I didn't like; just something that could be improved since many of the occupants and users of the hotel and afternoon waffle making facility were not Norwegian, and perhaps were predominantly English.

Liked the fact that there was coffee and tea available in the restaurant at all times. Waffle mix in the afternoon so you could make your own hot waffles! Warm hotel.

The hotel is very well situated. Close to the town shops and restaurants and all the bus stops for airport and Northern Lights trips. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. Good buffet breakfast and tea, coffee and waffles in the afternoon. Would definitely recommend the Amalie, very good service and value for money.

The location is excellent, right in the centre of town, easy walk to all the museums, we could see the ship between two office buildings and it was just a short walk to board the Heurtegruten ship. The staff were excellent, helpful, the breakfast was great, cold cuts, fish, bacon eggs, cereals, juices and lots more. There was a nice italian restaurant right next door which is cheaper than lots of places - Norway is really expensive to eat out. The room was small but was fine for us, had everything we needed, and it was nice to be able to control the heating temperature in the room too. Beds and quitls were comfortable. Would recomment this hotel without a second thought.

It is a small friendly hotel whose staff are all very helpful and aimable. The breakfast that was included in the price was excellent. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I would certainly stay at The Amalie Hotel again and would recommend anyone going to Tromso to do the same. There is no view from any of the windows at the hotel due to the position, but this would not deter me from staying there again.

Superb location.Very close to the centre, the wooden Cathedral, dockside and tic. Really had a 'Norwegian' feel which I liked. Excellent buffet breakfast. A very clean hotel. The bed and sleep experience was the best I have ever had in a hotel - a nicer bed than my own in fact! Very happy to recommend and would stay again. I would have liked more storage. There was only 3 coat hangers and a shelf inside and alcove and one small drawer. We found it difficult to find the hotel initially as you can't see a hotel sign from the main road, but once you have found it it was easy.

I chose the Amelie firstly as a value-for-money location. I had read good reviews on the website, and was not disappointed. Compared to usual "norwegian" prices it was extremely good value, and more comfortable than other budget hotels I have stayed at (notably, in France) - there were nice touches, like pictures on the walls, and a homely, cosy colour scheme. The breakfast was first rate, with a good choice of healthy (and less healthy) options. Staff were efficient. Although staff were efficient I found them a little on the "brisk" side. I was asked why I needed a 5.15 wake-up call for a 6.00 breakfast. Surely that is my choice. I asked about buses to the cable car, and the member of staff just gave me a timetable. Not unfriendly, but less than I had encountered from either the tourist office or from members of the Tromso public. I was alone in (I think) a double room. The bed may have been a bit narrow for 2 occupants.

A small and cosy hotel that offers all the basic essential facilities that you will need for a short stay. Bathroom is slightly small especially on the basin area where it could pose a problem for woman that like to lay their collection of facial product for easy access. Reasonable price lunch and dinner are available which is a plus consider the food price you will find in the city. Internet is slow but you can use the "faster" internet at their dedicated laptop in the reception.

It was a lovely, quiet, well-run hotel. Self-service tea, coffee & waffles for afternoon tea was a great treat, especially since winter activities often didn't allow time for lunch.

Nice size for a hotel with a family atmosphere. I requested a room on the fifth floor due to past comments about the view and I was lucky to be given one which gave me views of the bridge and mountains. Very quiet room had tea/coffee making facilities which I liked. The breakfast choice was more than adequate. Location in the town super for walking around. If I am fortunate to have a return trip to Tromso I would certainly book with the Amalie Hotel again.

Hotel pulito e confortevole, molto comodo perchè in centro e vicino stazione pullman. La colazione non è delle migliori rispetto al prezzo dell'hotel. Potrebbero offrire di meglio con più scelta e magari variare il sabato e la domenica.
