Very good,

“ Good choice: Big room, very comfortable beds, clean bathroom, hotel very central (close to fishmarket) but at the same time in a quiet area, good breakfast, friendly staff, fridge in the room, free Wifi, compared to other hotels in Norway good value for money (price level in Norway is of course incredible high). ”

The position was spot on for the harbour. The room was spacious, well furnished and comfortable. The staff were helpful and obliging. There wasa good supply of free coffgee and waffles in the lounge. The bar was rather cramped and the drinks very expensive - but this is not unique in Norway. It would have been helpful to have coffee making facilities in the room.

The art. The interior decorations. The location. Breakfast. Baggage receipt and storage. My room the first time I stayed, in the old part of the hotel. Comfortable armchairs good proportions and fine view of the old town. Room was warm. Lighting rather poor.Luggage was sent on with Porterservice company, handled by the hotel porter after I booked it. Porters helpful. The room on my second visit. The farthest from the lift, really a long way to carry heavy hand luggage. Unsuitable for a single, elderly, female traveller. Vast high-ceilinged room, freezing cold - radiator, very small and inadequate and anyway not working. Hotel staff brought up another but it was ages before the room was warm. Desk, coffe table leg and chair all scraped at corners and looking shabby. Armchairs of different quality and design to first room and not particularly comfortable. No coffee table supplied, I moved one from beside the bed. Dreadful view from the window over building site and building materials. Doors along the corridor leading to the wine bar were left open leading to drab service areas, with piles of chairs or plastic crates for kitchen or bar supplies. Most unprofessional and unwelcoming. Wine bar sommelier charming and friendly and mixed a good cocktail. Supper in the restaurant (one other guest) a disappointment: I choose Ox with a fruit sauce, it arrived and appeared to be two grilled steaks, with sauce smeared on top, very tough, if tasty. The ratatouille had champignons added to it, which is incorrect for this dish. I ordered a salad, it arrived beautifully presented, but with a dreadful dressing on the side - yellow thick, like a béarnaise sauce, with perhaps chives in it. On saking for a vinaigrette, or at least olive oil and lemon, I was told the hotel only had soy oil for cooking in the restaurant. The choice on the menu was very limited and although the desert was good, I felt that the food was not good value or particularly exciting.

We stayed for one night before boarding a north-bound Hurtigruten cruise. The room was small but clean and adequate for a night; just enough room to open two suitcases. Shower was very clean, with wall-mounted soap dispensers; the beds were very comfortable. Staff in reception were pleasant and gave us all the info we needed, and the free coffee and tea in the lounge was a nice touch. There is free Wi-fi in the hotel and the breakfast was good. Nothing to complain about.

The hotel was superb value for money. Our room was large and well appointed. Staff were friendly and approachable. Excellent choice of food for breakfast. Tea, coffee and waffles during the day in the lounge. We did not have evening meals in the hotel so cannot comment on the cuisine. What was there NOT to like?!! There were no negatives.

The hotel is very clean, with all services, located in the heart of Bergen, couples of walking minutes away from the marina, fish market and lively bar and restauranr area. A special mention to the hotel restaurant Altona, its staff, and its wine cellar. The food is absolutely stunning, at a respectuf price (for Norway of course). The wine menu and advices from Fredrik, wine director, makes it a wonderful journey. I recommend this hotel to any business traveller or couple who wants a nice stop in Bergen

The location is excellent - near the fishmarket, ferries and walking distance from everywhere central in Bergen. We stayed six nights in a standard room, which was pleasant and spacious, with a sitting area with 2 comfortable armchairs and small table. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was small - no bath, but a good shower - but good enough. Breakfast was good, with a good choice of items. Complimentary tea/coffee all day in the pleasant lounge was very welcome, as were the waffles in the afternoon! Free internet access in the lobby area was useful. The transfer from Bergen airport couldn't have been easier, with the airport shutle bus dropping off and picking up outside the hotel, and at a reasonable price. The whole atmosphere in the hotel was relaxed but efficient and I would highly recommend it.

The location made it easy to walk (in the rain) into the waterfront stores and restaurants. The hotel has many interesting aspects to it. Your morning breakfast buffet was delicious in every way! Wished the room was a little larger. With three of us in the same room, we were kind of jumping over each other.

Clean rooms with everything you need, quite big. Breakfast is what you expect from a 3 star hotel: a lot of choice, very nice/ Free wafles in the afternoon, free coffee and tea all day. Prices are what you expect from a hotel in Norway, which is expensive compared to Belgium. As I don't drink coffee or tea, some water of orange juice would be very nice to offer all day.

Good location, handy for the waterfronts, shopping areas and fish market. Helpful staff. Room looked presentable but I soon realised it was in serious need of refurbishment and soundproofing. The mattress was thin, the woodwork very worn and the shower basic, not even a sprinkler head. The walls were thin partitions and the window let in every sound from outside. No "extras" (tea/coffee, kettle, toiletries) whatsoever were provided in the room.

Location is perfect! Breakfast was good. It is a bit overpriced for the hotel of this category. The room was a bit shabby. Be it a cheaper hotel I wouldn't mind but for the price it was a bit too much. So go ahead with the hotel if it has a good price offer. Otherwise, select something different

The room was not up to the standard of the Oslo Rica where we stayed the previous night. The booking was the same - 2 single rooms. The cost in Bergen was approx nok500 more for a lower standard. Rica had a sauna. The breakfast was of a much higher offering although the Augustin was good. The decor in my room was shabby, the art work also. The window looked out over undistinguished small courtyard to bar. Directly opposite were stairs to roof space where 2 people (staff I presume) sat on floor looking across to my window, eating sandwiches and drinking tea. The other room overlooked a side pedestrian street which was noisy and busy.

We were there for a conference for several days. The staff was very helpful. The spa was wonderful as we spent a day in the jacuzzi and pool. Very relaxing. The meals we had had a nice variety of offerings and a very roomy dining area. The housekeeping staff were great at keeping our room clean and the towels fresh. The room was comfortable and we slept well. Our room was up on the second level of the third floor with a parking lot right outside the window and no screen on the window. This meant we could not leave the window open at night or when we were not there. This made the room very warm. The desk gave us a small fan which helped but a screen or security bars would have been better.
