Good location, comfortable, clean and cosy. Easily accommodates a family with 4 children like us (although we traveller with only 2 of them). Friendly owners and we would definitely return for a longer stay using it as a base to explore the area.
Very difficult to make contact with the owners pre trip. Frustrating as I had questions re arrival/check in and bedding. It was unclear from the website whether you needed your own bedding or if it was provided. If provided, the reviews on booking.com gave conflicting information on whether it was included in the price. As it turned out, for us, it was included at no extra cost, but could have done without the hassle of uncertainty
This review relates to the cabins. Bed was comfortable and cabin is very quiet.
Expensive for a small cabin. WiFi doesn't work. No tea or coffee supplied which is disappointing. Had to make beds ourselves and pay a hefty sum for the use of sheets in addition to extortionate base fee. Fair walk from town centre with suitcases, I.e. about 15 mins with very basic road. No taxi service in town. Only stay here if nowhere else is available.
I like the quite, the cleanliness and the staff.
Ten minutes walk from Flåm station, good starting/ending point for walks/bike rides.
Outdoor areas unfinished, somewhat cheap quality materials/buildings for the price.
very clean, great location
We liked the view from our patio - the grass and three sheep grazing. Very quiet. The kitchenette allowed us to cook some simple meals. Please be aware that you are going to be 20-25 min walking distance from cafes and shops, and no chance to get a taxi. They told me on the phone that it's so close you don't need a taxi, but when we arrived at Flamsbana station with two suitcases at +32C heat, it turned out that it was at least 20 min of fast walking. Keep in mind that nobody knows where Brekke apartments are - the guy at the tourist info center pointed us in the opposite direction. Since I had googled it in advance and actually recognized the buildings when the train approached Flam, we didn't follow his directions, otherwise we'd be circling this village in this heat for hours. So here are my directions: Most likely, you'll arrive by Flamsbana train. With your back to the train, you'll see a big parking lot in front of you, a group of red buildings on the right (information office etc.) and a group of mustard-yellow buildings on the left. Go left through the parking lot, and at the end of it you'll see a bridge. Cross the river and turn left. The road and sidewalk will follow the river for a while. On your right, you'll see a youth hostel. Then you'll walk past the big campsite. When the campsite ends, you'll see an overpass ahead. After walking under the overpass, you'll come to an intersection - and you need to go straight. (There is a sign "Brekke" 0.5 km" - so you know you are getting closer.) Be careful when crossing the road! There is no pedestrian crossing and no stop signs, so cars and buses won't stop for you! After crossing the intersection, follow the narrow paved road until it comes to a fork - here you need to turn left to an unpaved road. You'll see a small cluster of white buildings ahead - that's Brekke apartments.
It was way too expensive for this very basic accommodation! After dragging your luggage all the way from the train station, you will get the sheets to make your own beds. One bath towel per person - no hand towels, no bath mat, no kitchen towels or paper napkins. The frying pans didn't work with the induction stove. No microwave in the kitchen (but there is one in the common building). You need to bring everything with you - salt, sugar, tea, coffee etc. There is absolutely nowhere to put clothes - no drawers or shelves, no clothes hangers. In the small bathroom - no shelves, no towel bars, just one (!)hook. How are you supposed to deal with having three wet bath towels and no towel bars or hooks? No iron in the room, in fact no iron anywhere on premises. All these things make me wonder - Do the owners have any idea how negatively these missing details affect the comfort level of their guests? All these things are so cheap (shelves, hooks, hangers, towels, pans) - they could buy all of them for less then one-night fee. So my conclusion is: the view is good, and the room is clean, but very overpriced, considering location and such spartan conditions.
pleasant, quiet location waterfall sound pickup at ferry available
needs night manager in case of difficulties--online contact not fast enough if no reply until next day
kitchen and bathroom is so dirty.
Nice accommodation in a nice and quiet suburb by the mountainside only 15-minute walk from town centre
I'm still waiting for the hostel's reply re: double payment (They charged my credit card, by mistake I hope, after I paid cash for my stay upon checking in)
No breakfast facilities
It was a nice apartment. I must say a bit costlier but I guess this is what they all charge in Flåm during summer time. We reached there before time without giving a notice in advance, though lady kept the key and apartment ready for us! :) She is quite helpful, informative and talkative as well. You can get all relevant info from her if you haven't research on your own.
Great views out from the hostel. The staff were v friendly & the room was new & very clean.
There are 2 apartments both called Brekke and we were directed to the wrong one. Fortunately the staff gave us a free lift. Ours was about 15min walk from Flam & the roads were not great for suitcases! The room for 3 was tight. The shower leaked & flooded the bathroom. The side door didn't lock. The stove had no instructions & we couldn't work it. The only plugs were on the floor so that was where we boiled the kettle - dangerous. They charged us KOR75 to get a ride to Flam station.
good landscape outside, easy too cook, convinient for families
a little far from town center
A new apartment with all the facilities great location beautiful quite location
Property was very clean and comfortable, linen and towels are included in the price of the stay at the apartments. All facilities in the apartment were good and there was plenty of room for our group of 4 adults. Also, the price for the apartment was excellent especially for Flåm.
Getting hold of anyone at the apartments in the week before we travelled was a little difficult, but it is Norwegian holiday season. The check in is only staffed from 15:00 - 21:00 so this might have been why. No major issue as everything with the booking was fine.
We stayed for just one night to break up our Norway in a Nutshell tour. The apartment was brand new so all of the facilities were good, and all equipment good quality. Check in and out was easy. The owner gave good advice about walks both nearby ( up to a waterfall) and further afield ( absolutely fantastic 6 hour trek through the Aurland valley- a bus journey away). I could have stayed longer
we stayed in a studio room and there is a balcony attached to it. inside room, there is a kitchen and separate dining area. bath room is not big but very clean with floor heating.
not easy to find even though it is not that far from Flåm visitor centre. since the location is quite isolated, you need to bring your own food in case you need to have meal at the place.
Loved everything about this place!
Located among green fields.
Very far from the train station. Had to walk atleast 20 minutes, even to buy basic necessities like water and milk.
Brand new, very clean apartment.
Towels were very small and, while sheets and duvets were provided, I had to make the beds myself
The view is great and you can see the Flåm train pass by from the backyard. The cabin is not that big but well suited, the kitchen facility is great.
It's 20 minutes walk from the train station. If you got a lot of luggages, think twice.
The shampoo dispenser was empty
big house. clean. staff is enthusiastic.
Location is exellent. Staff (shile) was nice and helpful.
Not enogh equipment in the kitchen Very small No Tv
