This fashionable hotel is housed in a Neoclassical 1920s stone building, in the historic Bryggen area of Bergen. It offers a free evening buffet and harbor views from the rooftop. All rooms at Hotel Havnekontoret have a flat-screen TV and DVD player. Some rooms include views of Vågen Bay, while others overlook the hotel garden. Clarion Collection Hotel Havnekontoret offers 24-hour tea/coffee, afternoon pancakes or waffles and a light evening meal for free. Guests can relax in the hotel’s library-lounge or sauna. Staff was friendly and helpful. Making our own pancakes each afternoon was an odd, but enjoyable experience. The free breakfast buffet was better than usual for European hotels. Unless you are traveling alone or are really, really comfortable with your partner, you might not like the bathroom. A sliding glass door between the bathroom and the bedroom provides absolutely no privacy. A number of small issues downgrade this hotel - wall mounted TV offset so viewing is only comfortable from one chair in the corner of the room, free internet comes in 4 hour increments and authenticated through scratcher cards, having to play "hunt the light switch" for all the different lighting possibilities, etc.

Lots of free food and meals - ontop of a good beakfast buffet, there was a free evening buffet (and late night sandwich for guests who arrive after the evening buffet) and free make-youself pancakes at 3pm each day. These touches were much appreciated, especially as Norway is otherwise so expensive The bathroom doors were transparent and overlooked the main bedroom. This was very unsuitable as I was sharing a room with a friend and we had to constantly "arrange" ourselves to look other way and put on TV/ipod when other one was using bathroom

Very comfortable hotel, with a free evening buffet which makes the hotel good value in an expensive city. Staff were friendly and helpful. Well-located for historic Bryggen and views over the harbour. Not sure about the sliding glass doors to the ensuite bathrooms - some people might not like the lack of privacy!

The staff were very good, the room overlooked the water as requested, and it was an overall pleasant experience. Being able to cook your own eggs and bacon for breakfast was great as it meant that we had hot food, and not like many others 4 star hotels that do not seem to keep their hot food hot. The location is also near most things in town, and an easy walking distance to most places of interest to us. The room had a small fridge that we could use and a dvd player and that is great. The room was good, but let down by the poor maintenance, E.G. blackout curtains that were off the hooks, a power point that did not work, and the room size could have been a little bigger, apart from that it was very good. The curtain problem was fixed the next day and that is good service. Meal times tended to be very busy, especially at peak time, and at times it was very noisy especially when there were unruly children that had poor adult supervision. A good idea that works else where, is to have tables for two, in a quite area, to avoid noisy children.

The location is excellent. Bus to take you to the airport is right in front of the hotel. Historic area within walking distance! The dinner buffet is very poor! Choice is limited and everything seems to be straight out of a can...

Relaxed, liked the afternoon pancakes which were a bonus in an expensive city, service was very good. Breakfast had a good choice although evening buffet was a little like breakfast again.

Food was excellent, the hotel was perfectly clean and great location. Bergen is a rainy town and there was no umbrella for lending in reception. The standard rooms are located opposite of business center, so if you wanted to have privacy , the heavy dark curtains had to be used.
