“The staff was most helpful and the food was very good. The fact that an evening meal and late afternoon waffles was included in the price it made the price a bargain. Great location and superior room give you a great view of the harbor”

Very comfortable hotel, with a free evening buffet which makes the hotel good value in an expensive city. Staff were friendly and helpful. Well-located for historic Bryggen and views over the harbour. Not sure about the sliding glass doors to the ensuite bathrooms - some people might not like the lack of privacy!

Excellent stay all round. Buffet breakfast was one of the best I have had. Buffet dinner was perfect as you could arrive when convenient and eat your fill. Pancakes in the afternoon was also a welcome touch to come in a warm up... and have a go at cooking them yourself. Sauna and steam room very pleasant. Woke up to a view of the harbour and a tall ship.

Right on the harbour front in the centre of town. Free tea and coffee. Evening meal included (buffet) and it was absolutely fine. You can also make your own pancakes if you are peckish at teatime! Norwegian prices!

Very good staff, room was clean and well prepared. Rather overpriced for the room I received, small and nondescript. I could have been staying in any hotel, anywhere, and I'd expected a more unique experience.

Very friendly staff...ideal location w/ bus transport to airport; more value than we expected. Breakfast was terrific. Early dinner provided almost no options for people who do not eat meat!!! International travelers/tourists are more like to be vegetarians/fish eaters than you think. Our room should have sheer privacy curtains as opposed to the purple velvet ones that make the room dark like a cave. Our room faces offices, so it would be nice to have daylight but still be discreet :) We recommend you to our family & friends..

Having heard that dining out in norway was expensive. The Clarion made sense with evening meal and afternoon pancakes and coffee. I was suprised at the standard of the evening meal. Ample food and a selection of salad and soup. Not really the Clarions fault but there is a major tunnel network being built , nearby .

Very good location. Good reception staff. Room looks newly refurbished though not very bright. Our booking included a dinner buffet, a book we have, claims the hotel restaurant if one of Bergen's finest. Nonsense, the buffet was poor, choice was very limited and by 8:30 they run out of some of the dishes and were not able to supply demand. The quality was below average at best. The hotel has a self service policy, you bring your laundry to the reception and pick it up from there. You clear the table after eating, there are no waiters. We don't mind the philosophy, but find it disturbing when it comes at a price of a 5 star New York City hotel.

The location on the waterfront is excellent. The supper in the evening was excellent and free, unlike all other hotels where we stayed. This completely compensated the higher cost of the room.

The Central location, the warm and friendly staff and the food. The evening meal was an unexpected bonus as I think we were expecting something far less in quantity and quality. The afternoon pancakes were a wonderful indulgence. We appreciated the discount off our bill because of the inconvenience of being unable to use the wash hand basin.
