The delicious breakfast and light evening buffet are served in our maritime inspired dining room complete with wonderful sea views, the Arctic cathedral and the dramatic mountain range.
The hotel bar is the perfect place to relax with a drink or in the cosy library "Flåten". Remember to try one of the regular activities such as; the weekly wine evening or cooking your own meal with other guests in the kitchen.
Tea, coffee and waffles are available in the afternoon.
Ice water and fruits are available all day.
These extras are complimentary.
A french traveller who visited Tromsø at the turn of the century was clearly impressed by the city and the fashionable women and exclaimed this must be Paris of the north.
Tromsø received its town charter in 1794 and after that it developed into a top modern town with lots of charm and with more than 60,000 inhabitants; Tromsø is the largest town in northern Norway.
Here at almost 70°N, the choices are many; fishing during the midnight sun, downhill skiing under the northern lights, a variety of bars and restaurants, and also the northernmost brewery and university.

Excellent location, in the centre of Tromso. Clean, comfortable rooms. Food provided was adequate, however we were happy to eat here as prices at other establishments are not cheap in Norway. |

110% satisfied with the hotel and the staff could not do enough to help make our stay more enjoyable. Excellent selection of rooms – a double for us on fifth floor, mother was upgraded to a double next door with disabled facilities, next to a spacious single for my brother. We were loaned a wheelchair for our stay which meant we did not have to carry our own. The breakfast and evening buffets are excellent and the bonus of waffles in the afternoon and hot drinks available all day makes it excellent value, particularly in such a notoriously expensive country. Excellent location on the harbour, peaceful and wonderful ever changing view. Also very convenient for bus station, Hurtigruten and visitor attractions and wandering around the town. We always look for a room with a bath but this was not available at the Clarion. The shower room was more than adequate and underfloor heating was a bonus for my elderly and partially disabled mother. Swimming pools also seem as rare as hens' teeth in this part of Norway but for a few days it did not matter. |

The location was excellent - but then everything in Tromso is central. Having the evening buffet available was good, however we did not know it was there for us until the last day - no one told us. The service was poor - no information about the facilities when we arrived and the litrature in the rooms was not English. |

This is a small hotel with a relaxed atmosphere on the harbour front. Don't expect 5 star luxury, but do expect a warm and friendly hotel. The rooms are a reasonable size with everything you need for your stay. It is very comfortable and I would highly recommend it. With inclusive breakfast, afternoon waffles and coffee and light evening meal it is excellent value for money. |

What a fantastic hotel! This comment is based almost entirely on the staff - we were really well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. The complimentary extras in the "breakfast" room were also much appreciated. The location was also excellent and very convenient. A little more attention to detail in the "housekeeping" department would have been appreciated. The niggles were small but they were noticeable, perhaps because the rest was so good. |

The cooperation of the staff, the afternoon waffles and the evening cold buffet (all included in the price and unexpected). The location was superb. I felt that the hotel deserved a higher rating than it received from previous guests |

The free flow hot drinks are a blessing during winter. The teatime waffles and the light dinners were important when we were unable to go out for meals, especially during winter and when raining. Front desk staff are extremely friendly and helpful in so many ways to make us feel welcome. Our room was not kept very clean - apart from towel changes and bed making, the sink and parts of the carpet were not cleaned during our entire stay. |
