I absolutely loved the Fretheim hotel. The staff were so lovely and friendly and really really helpful. The girls at reception were so kind and really informative about the area. Bedroom was perfect, comfy bed and excellent view of fjord. Location 2mins from shop and train. There is also a lovely walk up behind the hotel with magnificent views. It's a little Kulturpark with cute artistic things along the trail. We also had breakfast at hotel and it was really delicous. The guy who served us breakfast was really nice, he even showed us the Norwegian brown cheese and how to best eat it. Sorry I didn't catch his name but he was very kind. Would definitely recommend to stay here.
Sauna is not available, apparently they need to get it inspected.
We arrived after the flood of the century and didn't notice a thing in terms of service or the condition of the hotel. Great stay. Great dinner. Great wine. Great advice on what to do. Awesome breakfast. Highly recommended.
Flam itself is a bit small and seemed like many of the shops and buildings were just for the tourist ships. Next time I would stay in Aurland village just around the corner. But the hotel was perfect.
Beautiful view Nearby activities and shopping Good breakfast buffet.
No assistance available bringing in bags Use of baggage trolleys was discouraged. Parking is some distance from door of establishment. Rooms almost unpleasantly warm for our taste. Limited dining options in hotel restaurant at dinner...prix fixe meal only.
Loved the location at the head of the fjord. Bed was comfy and breakfast very nice. Public areas good and clean
Dinner was ridiculously expensive. The meat courses were all the same except substitute Lamb for reindeer. Covered in a horrible glutinous wine sauce that destroyed the taste of everything. Beer £11 each. Front desk staff were clueless about local activities despite being a hundred yards from the hotel. No TV in more expensive rooms! Wifi only worked in public area. Sauna was broken.
The food at the buffet could be improved by including more variety of fruits and, for the dinner buffet, vary the main course every day rather than every few days.
The staff were very friendly and the facility was very well kept. It was a lovely place. Expensive but recommended
Beautiful room, clean and well equipped, heated floor, a bath, courteous staff ratio Beautiful view, great location
Bad smell in the transition between rooms elevator
great location, a short walk to the docks and the train station
very spendy for what you get
We loved the view of the fiord from our window, our spacious, comfortable, quiet, room, the delicious food - breakfast and dinner, especially the reindeer!, the gentle walk along the river to the next town, and the friendliness of the staff who made the Fretheim Hotel our home away from home.
A very expensive pre-dinner gin and tonic.
We were upgraded for free to a deluxe room in the historical section of the hotel, which was just beautiful! The dinner buffet was surprisingly good.
Proximity to fiord - boats and rail Helpful staff Good food reindeer dinner View from lobby & dining room close parking
room access to outside door very hard to use
wonderful staff location breakfast area view
There were not coffe maker neither in the room nor free in the lobby, its Over priced, no tv in the room, not enough space to unpack, bathroom unconcomfortable. I woul chose other hotels for next time.
Check in very slow with insufficient staff. Room small and noisy. Only view was of other tourist facilities in front of the hotel. Cannot see the fiord. Food abysmal, particularly the breakfast buffet.
Great location Comfortable
The dinner buffet is ok, but overpriced for what you get. I'm not sure there are many options in the town however.
The location is spectacular, and the facilities are excellent. Don't miss the look-out deck (above reception).
Great room, great location. Front desk was super helpful letting us know what activities were available around the area. Breakfast was quite good and well-stocked.
Room could have used a little more cleaning attention: noticed right away some powdery substance on a chair, and found an old sock under the dresser. Also, Room 462 didn't get the wi-fi which was unfortunate.
The hotel is gorgeous and the food was amazing. It's the most expensive hotel in flam, but for good reason. It was magical, the location could not be more perfect. I can't wait to return.
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left the staff were helpful, professional and friendly. The site and situation of the hotel are superb. The rooms are very comfortable and the glass atrium is a stunning design.
Location, location, location! Lovely lounge, breakfast and tea and coffee making facilities! Very comfy bed too!
Thin walls, could hear EVERYTHING!
Booked 3 rooms but when we got to hotel there was only one room booked under my name.
Excellent location right besides the Flamsbana Train final stop. Also located few steps from the ferries and boats departure, in the head of the Fjord. Beautiful and elegant ambience and our junior suite was spacious and fine-decorated. Great breakfast. In the evening, there was a good dinner buffet, with variety and quality.
At 11 AM someone knock our door to advise that it was check-out time. We were already ready to go, but it seems a 2 stars attitude. Altough the breakfast was good and complete, there wasn't espresso coffee and neither "cafelatte". Only regular american coffee and cold milk, even when we asked the staff about it.
the situation of the hotel is good. and the hotel is quite big, facilities are quite nice and exclusive. Guests can have leisure time spent quite nice in hotel.
Buffet dinner at 160 dollars a couple. 1) food almost inedible. I would say at boarding school level at best 2) salad leaves ROTTEN 3) "Pate" sandy, inedible 4) dessert : poor choice, bad etc. etc. A TOTAL RIPOFF
