Nice lady at the check-in You can take some sandwiches from the breakfast (wrapping paper provided), very handy when you go for a walk or are travelling
Too expensive for what you get in return Common showers ary very dirty, you can't lock your own shower or even the door that separates you from the hallway where everyone is just walking by Very dark parking lot Very noisy during the whole night Breakfast very hectic and not very hygienic Terrible (toll!!) road of 13 km leading up to the hotel, we paid € 7,5 to get on it, but if you don't have a Jeep or SUV, don't count on getting there comfortably
Fantastic hiking right outside the door, jaw-dropping scenery. Bring your own linens and be prepared to share the hallway bath, dorm style. The rooms are rustic, but bunk beds are comfortable and other guests were quiet at night. Everyone leaves their boots at the door & walks around in socks -- I felt like I was at home! Breakfast was substantial, with porridge, cheeses and meats and you're encouraged to take-away. Yes the toll road ($9.60 US) is a bit rutted, but the sights (and sheep) add to the experience. Staff are super-nice. A quintessential Norway experience for people who don't need posh comforts when they travel. If you want the Ritz, stay away. Please.
WiFi was out, due to an electrical storm the previous day. Staff couldn't even run our US credit card. But it wasn't a problem, stuff happens.
location scenery hikes typical mountain hut rooms superb breakfast - they even provide bags to you can make your own lunch pack
single dinner menu with no options fixed time 20:30 (or 18:30 if you arrive early enough) -everybody has to eat at the same time
Unbeatable location and starting point for walking, either modest strolls or serious hikes. This is a very large building with tiny but comfortable rooms and a great common room/bar plus a decent set-menu restaurant. Breakfast was good as well. There is certainly nowhere else to eat.
The (toll) road up to Leirvassbu is a great drive but needs care in an ordinary car to avoid bottoming out on the road surface
Located in "the middle of nowhere" or in the middle of National Park, a good starting point for mountain hiking. Pretty rough for people unused to hiking tourism, but I liked it :)
No WiFi in rooms, only in reception area. Heating bulbs in bathrooms, made it unbearable hot in the whole room, but I suppose it is supposed to make you warm during winter (and it was the warmest summer ever in Norway this year :) )
Excellent location, the hut is in a good condition.
Many rooms are equipped with quite short beds. Check more of them to get the longer ones if needed.
