WiFi was out, due to an electrical storm the previous day. Staff couldn't even run our US credit card. But it wasn't a problem, stuff happens.
Fantastic hiking right outside the door, jaw-dropping scenery. Bring your own linens and be prepared to share the hallway bath, dorm style. The rooms are rustic, but bunk beds are comfortable and other guests were quiet at night. Everyone leaves their boots at the door & walks around in socks -- I felt like I was at home!
Breakfast was substantial, with porridge, cheeses and meats and you're encouraged to take-away.
Yes the toll road ($9.60 US) is a bit rutted, but the sights (and sheep) add to the experience.
Staff are super-nice. A quintessential Norway experience for people who don't need posh comforts when they travel. If you want the Ritz, stay away. Please.
