I had to pay more money to get another room because i cannot climb stairs.
I was upgraded by the Best Western receptionist into one of their rooms for the same price. The location is stunning and is opposite the ski lift. There is also a supermarket next door. Breakfast was included and was plentiful. There is also free tea and coffee available.
The property is located up some very steep hills and is definitely not a five minute walk from the station. I had to get a taxi to and from the station as I had luggage.
When we arrived we were told that no Budget rooms were available so we got a room in the Best Western Hotel for the same price. Breakfast was very good.
Breakfast and friendly helpful staff
Nowhere was it advertised that this was a student dorm being used as a hotel in the holidays. The appearance and condition of the corridors was appalling for a hotel. Only stay here if you want student accommodation.
The gentleman is always there to help without being asked!
Nice location for walks
Far away from the centre if without transport, very basic facilities for typically Norwegian prices
Nice situated in quite surroundings just outside the city center. Helpful and entusiastic personel.
The beds in the budget area are more that due for renewal. An upgrade to ordinary hotel room at a modest fee is highly recommened. But beware that even in these room you can find worn down beds. The hotel is situated in an alpine ski area, so if you're not into skiing it may not be the right place to be in winter
Good dinner, good, plentiful and really fabulous and very varied breakfast. (You can cook your own waffles). Overall worth the expense by Norwegian standards.
Room basic, with a decor that leaves something 'to be desired, mattresses, very uncomfortable.
Comfortable bed and good breakfast.
The " unfriendly" reception staff. The hike up the hill for my friend (73) who has a heart problem.
Comfortable, rooms with everything You need and even cooking facilities. Very nice breakfast with perfect service!
Comparatively speaking, not too expensive. Good, quiet location.
Smells and looks like a dorm (which it is during the school year). No soap in bathroom.
The hotel is in an ideal location, right opposite the street of the cable car to go up the mountain. They are well equipped for skiing trips.
I found the room a bit small and a bit dark. Also there was no soap there in the bath room. When we asked, they didn't have any to fill it up - instead we got moved to the "Best Western"-part.
Location, food, staff
Leak at the toilet
Friendly staff, excellent food, comfortable bed.
A long walk from reception as my key would not open the front door of the "budget" annex. In need of modernisation although this is reflected in the price.
The staff were polite, courteous and very helpful with were to go and what to see.
Be aware that the 1 500 meter walk from the city center to the hotel is steeply uphill. This is no problem if you are reasonably fit, but beware if you´re not.
Breakfast was good.
Lousy location, took 30 minutes to get there from where the bus dropped me off below a 3-story mall (which did not correspond with the map online). Room was uncomfortably warm. It was 31C in Narvik and there is no AC or fan; had to walk a couple minutes from reception just to reach Rm 420. No black out blinds, impossible to darken the room in July. Poor night's sleep, what with excessive warmth and light. TV sucked -- small screen and snowy reception on all channels. The room was way overpriced at 690 NOK/night.
It was a nice basic room for an overnight stay. Breakfast was good. Clean.
Unfortunately we were there in a heat wave. 30 deg C! And the sun came right in and you could hardly open the window. No air conditioning and only found out that we could have had a fan the next morning.
A good breakfast and close to the cable car
The room had a slight tobacco smell and the pillows had a whiff about them.
great breakfast and helpful staff
bed was very creaky and uncomfortable
staff went out of the way to be helpful, esp a young man who helped at the desk and with the washing machine operation
Accessibility from railway station.
It's hard to fault this hotel which, despite its name, is actually Best Western, Narvik. Good food and facilities across the road from the ski tow. Great value for money.
Without your own transport it would be a bit of a trek up the hill from the city.
