The town is the Gudbrandsdal Valley's foremost tourist base and a good starting point for day trips to Rondane, Jotunheimen, Dovrefjell, Geiranger and Nordfjord. There are excellent rafting facilities nearby.

The whole hotel has a feeling of nostalgia, late 1960s style. Lovely family room with one room for sleeping, one living room and a bathroom with a tub that quickly fills with lovely, hot water. Anonymous Group of friends Norway August 12, 2011	Skulle møte familie fra usa på Otta som kom med toget fra Trondheim. Skulle kjøre derfra til Nesbyen sammen over Valdresflya. Rommene vi fikk var I elendig forfatning. Såpendespenser falt nesten ned på badet, sprekker I vasken, skitne vinduer. På det andre rommet var det falt ned en varmeovn og dusjen virket nesten ikke. Lenge siden vi har bodd på et så dårlig hotell. Lite oppfølging av maten på frokosten og. Lite utvalg, ikke kakao, og kun en type Yoghurt-drikk - Melon.
