- Okay price - Good beds - Mostly well-equipped kitchen (though why doesn't it have any oven mitts?) - Very few noises from the outside of the cabin was heard inside when the door was closed
- We ran out of hot water after 10mins of showering in a cabin meant for 4 people (good thing we were only two), and it took them two days to fix it. - Very little lamps/light in the main room for evenings and the one small lamp we had only partly worked - View was not as advertised online; we had a view over the entire camping site and was located right beside the kitchen for campers (if I were them, I'd have built the cabins by the water and had the road above them to leave the view more undisturbed)
Sandvika bay with its basalt rocks and mountains is one of the most beautiful natural settings for a camping site I can imagine. The Rorbu fisherman's huts are pretty and simply furnished, which is appropriate for such a holiday. Good kitchen facilities too and besides the location, there were shopping facilities not too far away. The waters of the bay are truly crystal clear and inviting. Good kayaking and boating facilities as well.
Bedroom was a bit on the small site with two narrow single cots. Due to the nature of a camping site the other huts were occupied by almost daily changing visitors which brought some unrest and noise, especially when lodging with dogs who bark all night. We were offered free wifi, but the signal was extremely week and only available at certain spots.
The location had fabulous views of the surrounding countryside.
It was clean.
It was rather shabby. There was no wifi in the room and there were no interesting or picturesque places near by to have dinner or walk. I felt it was really over priced.
Wifi advertised as being in all areas. In fact only patchy coverage right outside the reception building. External seating area in top of the camping area. We didn't use it at all. Kitchen was not very well equipped.
Beautiful views, nice and comfortable cabin
Too busy and overcrowded with caravans
We liked the location of the campground and the beautiful view of the mountains.
We have reserved a cottage but we got an appartment - with 3 other appartments and the sanitary bloc of the campground in our building - for the same price.
Beach, bathroom, views, enough space and rooms
No mattress pad, front door lock, too small (low) cupboards, cold floor in master bedroom,
A 9/10 votation for Sandvika for the friendly staff. Free Wifi working only around the main reception area, but it was working well. The position was a bit far from the main road, but this means that it was peaceful and quiet, surrounded by nature, sea and mountains all in one. The cabin we had (complete of bathroom, kitchen and living room with sofa) was complete of all and very clean, just as none used it before. There was soap in the bathroom (probably they fill everything after each departure), 2 big paper rolls in the bathroom, heating on the bathroom floor. Be careful at the hot water! Is is really hot and each cabin has its own medium/small boiler, so if you are in 2, each shower should last 2-3 minutes, maximum 5. If you are 4, hurry up and don't do dishes before the shower! Anyway, enough to be clean, just don't waste it.:) If you like a long shower as I do, this time it has to be short. But don't forget it is a camping, you're not at home. :) In the kitchen there was soap for the dishes, all the cutlery/plates and glasses/cups necessary. There was no bowl for salad or can opener, it was not a missing but be aware and bring your own from home. The kitchen was complete of small new -very clean- fridge, kitchen tools (board cutter, big spoon, cheese knife, etc). The sofa very comfortable, the beds too. There were more than enough electric outlets per each room. Table with two chair by the window. Each cabin has the view on the water, very green transparent colour. There was a special place for fish cleaning, with a big sink and water pipe. In the area you can rent boat, kayak, fishing tools. Get a mosquito lotion! ;)
The position was a bit far from the main road, but it was ok because we are good walkers (1.3 km). But if you are not a driver/don't have a car, be careful if you have to take a bus to anywhere, timing is important, you have to leave the camping at least 30-45 min before (if you have heavy backpacks), so you arrive in time for your bus that passes on the main road (there are very few busses in the Lofoten because people have their own car, usually). I did not like their neighbours, the other camping seemed rather sad and the workers too. After, I was glade I did not find any place available at Ørsvågvær Camping (initially I wanted to go there because from the photos it looked well and I thought the two campings are similar in quality, also relating to the votations online). We walked around these two campings and that one gave us the impression of bad managing, all the buildings around except the Reception, were looking bad, like no one is taking are care of them painting/repairing them... Even if actually there were lots of works in progress! So, I am glade I chose well, at the end!
The location and the people who worked there.
That there were no bikes to use
Really friendly staff, nice and well equiped cabins with excellent view.
The shower flodded the bathroom
