Scandic Byporten  

Location was the best. Next to the central train station and bus terminal. The trams and buses ran right in front of the hotel. Breakfast at Egon restaurant was also very good.

To be picky......I thought the pillows were a little too flat for me. Other wise, staff was very nice and rooms were clean.

The room was clean and convenient to all transport, shopping and nightlife.

It was hard to find the entrance. Breakfast was served in an a restaurant across a shopping centre. Although it was varied and fairly plentiful it was a free for all and always packed.

Central location and price. It wasn't anything above the average but it also had smoking rooms which was important to me

Location is terrific, the hotel is nice enough.

The room was way too hot at night (23.6 degrees and 24 degrees) and we had trouble sleeping. Supposedly, you can regulate the room temperature using the tv, but that did not work in our room. Blame central heating.

It was conveniently located to shops and had a view of the fjord. That staff was efficient and friendly.

The image on the website made the hotel look much nicer and larger than it was. It also said that the room was "bright". It's as if the booking reservation was trying to convince me that the room wasn't small and dark - which it was. It was also fairly old-fashioned and cheap in terms of furnishing. If it had been less expensive, this would have been ok. Or, if the website had indicated that this hotel would be small and dark, that would also be ok. As it was, it was false advertising and a dissapointment. The breakfast was also disorganized in terms of moving about and cold.

Location was great! Right next to train station and tram. Easy to get to sites, shopping, food, etc. Hard to find though...it's in the mall. Just ask for directions from people when you get there, it's easier. Beds were very comfortable. Room was small but we did fine and even had a crib in there. Staff was nice and very helpful...especially Lynn who wrapped me in a towel when I walked in like a drowned rat from the rain. Breakfast was fantastic!

The room was stupid hot! It was not hot outside, but really hot in the room. Apparently you can adjust the temp via the tv which they didn't tell me! I figured there wasn't a/C. Just make note of that and ask for instruction.

Great location for bus and rail station. Friendly and welcoming staff.

Its perfect location in the city. Close to Oslo Spektrum, Karl Johan, shopping centre and train station. The hotell is right outside the trainstation which makes it perfect when travelling from and to the airport.

Most rooms are very smaal by us standards. Did geta reasonably priced upgrade to a much larger room. If we stayed in the small room, we would have been uncomfortably cramped. The staff was superb in every way - pleasant, courteous, helpful, etc. The Egon Restaurant breakfast was terrific and the ability to charge food to our room was very nice. The location of the Scandic Byporten was, for us, a very important feature, as it was very close to the Central Train Station, Metro and various bus lines as well as within easy walking distance of great shopping and sight seeing in Museums, Churches, the Oslo Fjord etc. a great stay. When we come back to Oslo, we will stay at the Scandic Byporten and would recommend it to anyone. But, do get one of the larger rooms!

No complaints! It is a wondrful Hotel with a well-trained and efficient, friendly staff who are very conversant in English, which was helpful.
