The room was very very small, so small in fact that there wasn't enough room for a wardrobe, and instead there was one coathanger, for two peoples entire clothes selection. This clearly doesn't work. The room was painted only on three walls, presumably a "feature" that the designers though was cool. It does make the room feel unfinished, a bit like a hostel, and unfortunately our unpainted wall also had unpleasant stains, marks, and dirt on it. I suspect they might have moved us had we asked, but we didn't bother.
The hotel does not take cash (for anything at all), meaning you need to pay on your card for anything that you wish to buy, be it the room cost itself, a bottle of water, or anything else.
Smarthotel is near the centre of the city, which isn't difficult because Tromso is pretty small. Most staff were friendly and helpful.
No problems really, a warm place to stay, if a little small - although having such a mediocre room did mean we went out and spent all day in Tromso itself, so is this necessarily such a bad thing.
