Located right in town. Lovely staff, very modern new hotel.
Kind and helpful staff Good and free internet Love the Nespresso coffee Very good location
We had to walk to a different location for breakfast
Quiet, comfortable room in a good location.
Funky Scandinavian elevator, just too weird for for words but fully serviceable.
Espresso machine in the lobby, the bathtub in the room and the convenient location.
The heated floor in the bathroom. Shame the beds had to be pushed together but was only a minor inconvenience. I would recommend this accommodation to other travellers.
No kettle in the room, but that's pretty typical in Norway. Though there were kitchen facilities.
Friendly and helpful staff. Views of snowy mountains. Nice pretty wooden room
Had one minor issue with an odd fragrance, but it was take care of.
Perfect place right in the town. The staff was fabulous, made reservations and arranged lunch. All of them were great.
Wi-Fi was very good and free. The room was clean - a heaven after a long, cold day working outside.
Location was excellent, very central to restaurants and bars. Breakfast was also very good.
Slow / non-working wifi, all rooms have very bright lights (LED?) that cannot be dimmed (which doesn't make for a "cosy" feel in the room at night). Management should fix this!
Good value for Spitsbergen. Excellent location. Staff were nice, but didn't seem too interested (I got the feeling this is just a job for them. No passion), but they did help out when asked. Great breakfast (included) right down the street (it's a really short walk down there, perhaps 1-2 minutes)
the room is a little bit small, but that is longyearbyen
You need too prepare for everything, but such is life near the North Pole - there are no spare seats - get used to it
Helpful staff and good quality clean room - exactly what you need
There was a lot of space on the walls in the room and the bathroom, and we could have wished for more hooks or pegs on the walls, and may be a wall bar, because you bring a lot of clothes to Svalbard for adventures and protection against the cold wheather (at least in February). We didn't really have enough hooks, pegs or wall bars to hang up wet or used clothes for drying after a day out, so the chairs had to do. Also we noticed on the pictures before we booked that there were only cubes (or boxes) to sit on, whitch is uncomfortable for people of some age like us. However we had good chairs brought to our room on request before we arrived, so that problem was easily solved.
Svalbard Hotel is situated in the middle of town with everything in reach within short walking distances. The staff is nice, friendly and helpful. The staff also handles booking of adventures like snowmobile tours, ice caving, dog sledding and more. Breakfast is good. The fact that you have to walk 45 seconds outdoors to get to it is just good for the appetite. Nice clean arctic air filling your lungs before breakfast isn't bad at all. We miss it already.
Room 26: just above the HOTEL sign (out on the wall), and you'd hear all day and night long the melting snow "singing" over it! I lost a trip due to my inappropriate shoes, and after losing money on that I found out that the hotel had winter shoes to borrow.... Too late!
Excellent decoration, free nespresso, and tea at the lobby.
Fantastic location, staff were very helpful. Room had everything we needed.
I'm a bit of a fussy eater so breakfast could have been a bit better but my husband ate plenty. Also, it would have been nice to have a double bed rather than two singles put together we kept falling down the middle
The hotel is well located in the centre of town. It is very clean and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. It has everything you need.
breakfast needs improving, basic and warm food was poor in quality and cold
staff very friendly clean hotel
very comfortable beds, high standard rooms kettle in the room and lodge, free tea & coffe staff is very helpful and hospitable you can book all activities at reception desk - big plus nice big windows so it's easy to spot northern lights WiFi works great
Occasionally, internet connection was dropping to be poor. I also found the bed not completely comfortable. And not too much space to place your belongings.
Very friendly staff, absolutely helpful with all local arrangements and information. Modern and fairly comfortable room, very good bathroom facilities, nice views and fresh wooden appearance.
the beds where not really comfortable and with a bit of movements during the night, the bed sheets & the mattress get messy. the bathrooms could use a fan for fresh air circulation. when you take a hot shower or a bath, you can't breath and it's like a sauna for 30min with open doors.
great location, cozy, nice room architecture, central location, very close to all restaurants/grocery stores, well known in Longyearbyen community
The only thing that wasn't OK is the wi-fi connection in the rooms. We had to move to the lobby to get a decent signal.
We thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon- stay at Svalbard Hotell. From the outside, the building looks like nothing special, but inside the interior is cosy and very modern. Our room was really nice. Personnel is young, funny and very helpful. We spent lots of time in the lobby reading books or surfing the web, drinking coffee and tea. The hotel is very well located, its a short walk to most pubs and shops but also up the valley to Nybyen. Breakfasts in nearby Svalbar were good and cosy, we enjoyed the 'usic in particular.
great staff, perfect room, perfect location. cannot ask for anything better
Twin bed for a double room. Not an issue at all but a big double bed would have been preferable.
Very helpful staff and good breakfast included in the cost
Wifi was a bit erratic at times and weak signal in my room
Absolutely friendly staff at front office! Very comfortable and large rooms, elevator for first floor access, free tea and coffee in the reception to warm up your cold bones, host of activity bookings, modern and clean rooms with large windows
The size of the room, the heating system ( in November), the (always) helpfull staff, the breakfasts...
