Fantastic fijord location and views, cleanliness, helpful staff, excellent buffet breakfast, extremely comfortable bed.
- Location - Comfortable
Free tea and coffee all day was nice touch. Breakfast excellent buffet. Restaurant seemed a bit disorganised in the evening (orders getting mixed up) but food was OK for quality if expensive!
New nice hotel - staff, wi fi, food, all good!
Very cosy rooms, great location, excellent breakfast
The restaurant staff unfortunately are not adequate to the level of this otherwise fine hotel.
Very clean, modern hotel close to everything. Very good breakfast buffett with lots of choices and seating over looking the water. Good wi fi and nice clean bathrooms with heated floors.
Great location overlooking the fjord, great buffet breakfast. It was within walking distance from the town centre which was good.
Good price considering, hotels are very expensive in Norway. A decent breakfast. Pick up point outside hotel for airport bus.
We are mother and daughter and were travelling abroad for the first time in 17yrs, and so we decided Norway would be the place to go. We stayed for our first night in Kirkenes at the Thon, which was very welcoming. We had a beautiful view of the fjord and snowcapped hills. Evening meal was excellent, and the breakfast had a very good selection. Kirkenes is a lovely town and the people are very friendly.
There was nothing we didn't like, everything was amazing.
After snowmobiling in minus 25 degrees, it was great to come to a warm clean hotel. We were allowed to check in early which was much appreciated
Had been told we might see northern lights from hotel room but think that's a pipe dream because of ambient lighting from Kirkenes. Also there was nowhere particularly to view possible sightings. We had seen them so was'nt a biggie.
We used this Hotel after leaving a Hurtigruten cruise we were on for New Year!(brilliant, by the way!) We didn't have much choice of accommodation in deepest, darkest (it barely gets light in early January!) Northern Norway....and we definitely chose the best one in Kirkenes! The hotel appears to provide for people just like ourselves....travellers staying the odd night...and they do it well! We had reserved a Superior Room which was actually quite small...but it was nicely furnished and had a great modern bathroom! Dining was different! Due to a misunderstanding I ended up with Reindeer stew in Pitta...which WAS excellent! Dinner was good too....there is NOTHING open in town apart from a couple of Pizza places on a January evening! We missed breakfast....but, as we waited for our airport transfer, we stole a look at the breakfast layout! We had missed an absolute treat! So, take heed...leave yourself time to enjoy a Thon breakfast!
Nothing to dislike!
Rheindear for supper
Location was excellent, reasonably close to the Hurtigruten dock, walking distance to town and overlooking the bay which meant not too much light to interfere with viewing the northern lights (when visible). Food in the restaurant was excellent, although expensive as is all of Norway.
On check in one of the reception staff ignored us while he was doing his paperwork, not even acknowledging we were there until he finished. For the whole visit he wasn't particularly friendly/helpful which is strange for front of house staff. Other hotel guests we spoke to had a similar experience, however the rest of the staff were excellent.
The location overlooking the sea was magnificent and had easy access to the Town Centre, shops and cafes. The hotel was modern and our room also had a lovely sea view.
High cost of food and drinks.
We asked for a nice room and were given lovely sea-view. Very soft beds which suited us. Floor heating in bathroom good for drying clothes wet from snow. Breakfast buffet of stunningly good quality - I enjoyed gravlax, chef-cooked omelette & pancake, delicate pastry..
Hard to improve on great staff and room and food !
Excellent place to stay overnight before catching the Hurtigruten coastal ferry. The restaurant was good but best of all we saw the northern lights.
Queue to check in when we all arrived on the airport bus.
Good place to stay at the end of a Hurtigruten cruise. Restaurant was very good and the breakfast excellent with a wide choice.
Carpet in the room would make it seem warmer in the northern climate.
Very nice restaurant. Convenient to downtown, a couple of blocks away. On the water, so nice view. Close to Hurtigruten docks.
excellent breakfast buffet, nice view
Breakfasr was great, service was good, room was comfortable, the bed was restful and the silence of the north was amazing.
The quilt was too hot. Need option of lighter bedding?
The location is excellent - on the water, with great views. Kirkenes is a small town, so everything's pretty convenient. We stayed there for one night at the end of a Hurtigruten cruise, not wishing to rush back home straightaway. The hotel is modern, clean and comfortable, the breakfast is good, and the staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. There are shuttle buses to/from the Hurtigruten terminal and the airport.
There was nothing we didn't like.
roomy double. very clean, with comfortable beds and furniture, bathroom. Very generous buffet breakfast. Very nice dining room with very good service and food.
Modern and warm in a bleak late autumn, and with Northern Light show!
Good hotel, well situated in the small town. Decent breakfast. Tourist information office in the lobby.
