Breakfast buffet, free tea & coffee at reception. Most helpful staff, especially on reception...even if they were learning their new billing system. Proximity to Hurtigruten terminal, town centre and tourist office.

Memorable stay in Tromsø Located in the city center, Thon Polar Hotel is one of the highest buildings in the city, stands the magnificent views of the surrounding area from the top floors. With luck you can observe the aurora borealis also the A rich breakfast buffet is served each morning in the restaurant EGON. EGON restaurant serves a great European and Norwegian specialties and in the evening it is difficult to find a free space. We chose this hotel because of the family rooms - they were really exceptionally good for a budget hotel

the rooms were of a good size with great bathrooms and a powerful hair drier. there was a tea and coffee machine in the lobby which was great when coming back from a day out in the cold. The Egon restaurant served delicious food. The staff were more than helpful.

There was nothing that I could say I found annoying.

The staff were really friendly and helpfull and it was a really pleasant feeling to talk to them.

The room had very poor wifi connectivity and the bathroom tiles were loose. A bit of a disappointment in an otherwise really well kept hotel.

The eighteen steps with no lift access from the actual second floor to our "second floor" bedroom - not clever for septugenarians carrying their own luggage - but the bruises are fading! The lack of any tea/coffee making facilites axcept at reception.

Good location in the centre of Tromsø. Rooms are basic, and the hotel has limited facilities, but not at all bad for a budget hotel. Excellent buffet breakfast. Friendly staff.

The rooms at the back of the hotel overlook Tromsø's main street, and on Friday and Saturday nights, there is a lot of noise from the bars and clubs. The in-house restaurant ("Egon") provided a good buffet breakfast, but the service in the evenings was very poor.

The very clean and tidy bedroom and bathroom with walk in shower. The fantastic buffet breakfast which meant we didn't have to spend so much on food. The free tea and coffee in the receptionist area.

Nothing to dislike.

The hotel is in an excellent location, and close to all that Tromso has to offer (although the town is very small). The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was buffet style - with a good choice. It is very close to the flybuss airport connection stop.

Although we had a room on the top floor with a view, it was very small and lacked the "sitting area" referred to in the web description - I think this may just apply to rooms on the 9th floor. Nothing in Norway is cheap - and although described as "budget" it was far more expensive than similar hotels in other European countries.

The only thing was we wished there was a kettle and tea making facilities in the room.

Great breakfast, brilliant shower and fab views of mountains! We would highly recommend it. Perfect location in relation to town and airport bus etc. Staff brilliant.

Bathroom was a bit cramped but great shower made up for it. Kettle in room would have been nice as an option.

It's not a luxury hotel but doesn't profess to be; if you are stupid enough to pay Norwegian prices for such fare, give Thon a miss.

Simple, that's how I like it.
