The apartment was warm, spotlessly clean, light and bright. The modern kitchen and bathroom had every thing we needed. The lounge area was comfortable and the WiFi was excellent. With grocery shops and restaurants handy (two minutes) we were able to eat out or in as we chose. The apartment was less than two minutes walk to the CBD, but in a quiet street with almost no traffic noise, particularly with the double (triple?) glazed windows closed. The apartment was also apparently insulated internally, so the early risers amongst us were able to make a coffee without disturbing the later sleepers. We didn't realise many Norwegian cities have on-street parking restrictions for visitors so when we booked we didn't indicate we needed parking. The original apartment didn't have parking available. When the staff discovered the problem we were immediately switched to another apartment with off-street parking with absolutely no fuss and a smile.
Hard to find anything we didn't like...Maybe the lack of view from this particular apartment but this our own fault due to our late notification of our parking requirements.
The apartment had everything you need, it surprised me. Good location, nice staff. Mr. receptionist even took me to the place and showed me around the apartment. Very nice time, thank you, and I would like to go back .... only the weather:-(
hmmmm kinda loud at night but it is not the fault of the apartment just returning from the events people....
Cosy little appartment in the heart if tromsø. Everything easily accessible on foot.
Poor and dirty kitchen equipment. Kitchen would need a thorough clean through. Oven, fan etc seem not to have been cleaned in months/years.
Bathroom and kitchen facilities were good. Being self catering gave us flexibility. Good location. Friendly staff
We got an apartment well outside downtown and once we got there it wasn't cleaned after the previous guests. I would recommend, but be prepared to get an apartment outside the down town area.
Location and that is wasn't cleaned after the previous guests.
Clean and well decorated rooms, very comfortable; good seating and excellent TV, DVD player and HiFi included. The shower is a good size and the rooms were always warm (we had to open the windows to cool down). The galley kitchen is well equipped with oven, cooker, microwave, kettle, fridge/freezer, pans, etc. The bedrooms are big enough to hold a double bed and small wardrobe but not much more. The street location is quiet and not too much noise on a Friday/Saturday night (end of July) - very close to a small supermarket for food and the main bus street. The windows are well insulated. All-in-all we would be happy to have these rooms on another visit.
From the booking website I was led to believe we would be getting a larger apartment with a dining area and utility room - our 2-room apartment was smaller than the one shown on the website. I don't like ceramic hobbs on cookers - they take a while to heat up and don't cool down immediately, but they are easy to wipe clean. The kettle lid would not close when hot. The bedroom blinds did not darken the room enough for sleep (in July).
The apartment is in the basement. Humid and dark. It looks quite different from the pictures shown in booking.com.
Great location and size. It had everything you need. Staff were friendly.
It was very hard to sleep as the sun never goes down in summer and there were no curtains. There were some bent old Venetian blinds, but as the sun blasted in the room at 2am, they were little help. Blackout curtains or blinds are required for summer. It was also very noisy with road works. The worst sleep I had for ages!
top floor is very hot and no a/c
The appartment was great, quiet, comfortable and clean.
No dishwasher and there was a problem with wi-fi due to the thunderstorm.
Friendly staff and the kitchen is well equipped.
Located in a quiet area, it is not far from the centre and the perfect solution both to visit the town and to relax. Clean and very comfortable.
Free Waffles everyday!
Wifi. Daily we affles:)
It was very small for 4 people! Bathroom floor heating didn't work, which meant there were always puddles on the floor after showering.
It was well equipped with high levels of cleanliness. The beds were warm, the lounge area comfortable and the kitchen easy to cook a meal for four as well as to clean up with a dishwasher. An added bonus was our apartment having a view on three sides and being able to watch the cable car, the streets and the snow (something very strange to Australias!). As a family travelling together, we had enough room to spread out each night without cramping our style.
This is a struggle to find anything! The only thing I could reference is that wifi was better in one seat than another, yep, that's all.
The lounge area was excellent and the sleeping area only fair. Bathroom good.
Wooden steps wete covered in ice and a little dangerous for older people.
The kitchen facilities can save money in Norway where dinner out cost is expensive everywhere.
This provider has numbers of apartments around the town. The one I got was around 20 mins walking distance from the city center. It is out of my expectation and will be better if this situation could be advised beforehand. Since the apartment is far from the reception of the Viking hotel and we carried baggages, taxi was arranged to send us to the apartment after checkin, but the same service was not provided till we asked. The apartment we got did not have laundry facilities and cause inconvenience. The worst part was the wifi facility. It was not provided throughout the day. It was disable around midnight till 8/9 am with no explanation, and ever after we spoke to them.
Luxurious apartment, excellent staff.
Check-in time of of 3 PM is bad. Consider allowing minimum of 12 in the noon.
Poor communication amongst different shifts of staff insufficient staff and had to wait for a long time for service
Nicely laid out apartment. Could have been a very nice apartment if only the manager and owner cared.
Noisy Couldn't check in until 4pm (advertised checking in time midday) Missing coffee maker Only two mugs, one chipped the other stained Manager absent and unwilling to deal with complaints Dirty foyer Icy path not gritted Cigarette butts in communal area and outside apartment Cigarette smells from other apartments' balconies It felt like the owner and manager were running it on a shoestring and couldn't care less if there were complaints. It ruined our stay in tromso
Very close to the centre of Tromso and a fantastic Spar shop.
The quality of the re - build work, especailly the kitchen,is poor.
The staff was very helpful from when we arrived. When our flat was missing a frying pan they got us one straight away. The flats were basic but it was wonderful to be central and live like a local. The supermarket was less than 5 minutes walk away and fully stocked with a 'free from section', like a small Sainsbury's.
Slightly better stocked kitchen as we cook dinner at the flat because we are travelling with a 5 year old. We would still go back in a heart beat.
the apartment was AMAZING!
The apartment was great! We got even an upgrade from a 3 Bedroom for a 4Bedroom and it was all fantastic. All equipped, good view, great furniture and kitchen. Fantastic Bathroom and Bedroom. A great value for money. Good TV, fire place (we have not used, but looked great). Wish we could have stayed longer.
The coffee Machine (a great on) was not working. The floor of the kitchen could be better cleaned. The heating does not get to 3rd floor, so a bit chili there.
Everything about the apartment was just lovely, and exactly as the pictures portrayed. It was warm, spacious and well equipped. We had 3 in our appartment which was lovely but 4 would have been a squeeze in the mini double bed.
Its important to be aware that the apartment are not all co-located at the hotel; but neither are they too far out of the main town either. The cleaning rota needs to be shaper i.e. if it will be 3 hours before the apartment is ready then say so; most people wont mind and at least can go off and do something else. Also whilst Norwegians are used to snow and ice most of Europe is not and more needs to be done to ensure a clear pathway to the apartment, it was a bit of a death trap to be honest.
