Very good breakfast. Kitchen lacked some equipment to cook dinner for a family of five. Like some large pots and pans.

It was really silent around. I got a bigger room than I booked since not many guests were at that time. I came there between seasons. Maybe, that was the reason of expired of date food at breakfast. In fact, staff works after 6pm, not as it was described. The last leg from the station to the hostel is for well trained people, who use to carry heavy laggage.

The rooms are simple but nice with no extravancies, ideal to who want one place to stay for one night or two. The breakfast are really nice, with large variety. The location it's fine, easy to find and with a great view for the lake and mountains. It's a nice place to begin a journey in the marvellous fjords. The shower in the room it's a bit strange, occuping all the bathroom, but working fine.

Breakfast was nice, the setting (I got a fjord-side room) is beautiful, location quite convenient for train / bus station, and the staff are excellent. Firstly the context: I booked a 'single room with private bathroom' online for 700nok (100€) but was given a four bed dorm to myself. If I were sharing the same room I might have fewer complaints, but when you are paying three times the price you expect a better quality of accommodation. The bathroom had probably been cleaned but you couldn't tell either way. Mould everywhere with stripping paint, the shower was on a timer and used the whole bathroom as its drip tray (there was an old squeegy to push the water down the drain). Rusty fixtures. Toilet seat broken. Linen smelling of harsh chemicals was given out at reception. Beds ok. No conveniences whatsoever - not even a glass in the room or complimentary towels. If you're on a tight budget, need to stay in Voss, need a kitchen or are looking to mix with other travellers, this may be your (only) choice. Otherwise I'd recommend a very wide berth (as would people who had shared dorms here whom I met later in my trip).

Excellent breakfast buffet and locally-sourced dinner options. Located on a picaresque lake and a short 10-minute walk from town. Price seems about right for a higher-end hostel. Rooms are clean, sheets included, bathroom with hot water in room, excellent view of lake from room.

Much too expensive, we booked and paid the price for a hotel-like double room, but had the comfort of a backpacker location. Absolutely poor experience!

We stayed there just for 1 night and we found it very nice.. in fact it was really good decision to stay there and not in some city area.. It is 15 min walk from station but the view from rooms is amazing :) just lake side and mountain view.. I am sure you will love it.

Right on the edge of a lake. Can rent canoes and bikes. Good feed at breakfast. Road construction makes it a hard walk from the train station if you're dragging lots of luggage. Buy the IYH membership in advance. Worth the 10% discount--especially if you visit other vandraheimen--they're great!

The staff were very helpful and friendly (even put us in a cheaper room than we had booked). The food was outstanding - very tasty and well priced. The location is perfect - beautiful scenery and easy to find.

Friendly and very helpful, gave us many tips about the area... Internet was not working. The 2nd night 4 kids and 4 adults arrived in 2 double bedroom with a small kitchen and bathroom to share with us. Bit noisy as you can guess.

Fantastic waterside location - our room was basic but perfectly adequate. The hostel was spacious throughout, with exceptionally helpful and welcoming staff. We hired kayaks from the hostel and launched them only 10 metres from our room! Gorgeous scenery, and the children enjoyed the small beach area behind the hostel. Great food, super outdoor decked area, and a great atmosphere.
