The road to the hotel was under construction. So we had to walk to the main road. But it wasn't a deal breaker. Would still stay there again. Also the wi-Fi in the rooms was very weak
Love the fact that the hotel was a nice hide away from the chaos of the city. Very peaceful and a lovely garden like atmosphere. The staff was wonderful.
There was some issues related to access the hotel due to constructions . internet was not stable ad very poor at rooms .
Secure, Clean, calm, good breakfast, open space, Staff is so helping and understanding .
Unfortunately the roads where under construction and it was a bit messy to get there with baggage. The relentless rain made the Internet didn´t work. None of these was the hotel's fault and I hope, for their sake, that the problems soon are solved!
I really like this hotel. I have stayed there eight times and I´m sure that I´ll come back. Thank you for everything, Mrs Jigmee and all of the staff.
It was a quiet place in the middle of a manic city!
Unfortunately not the hotels fault the main road outside currently is a building site. A bit tricky to find.
As soon as we arrived it had the most welcoming calm feeling. Great staff very helpful and friendly. There was also a lovely aroma.
Difficult to find when most of the surrounding roads are being dug up.
Very welcoming and friendly staff with excellent rooms and a great restaurant. They showed great flexibility when our flight from Lukla was delayed.
The staff were some of the most helpful and friendly I have ever come across. They were so welcoming and kind. The hotel has a pretty garden and is a real oasis of calm. The restaurant food is also delicious!
The direct way by taxi to the hotel is down a very long and bumpy road, there is an alternative route but most taxi drivers do not know this. Power cuts; so therefore the room can get cold in winter when we were there. Problems were not the hotel's fault.
The staff were exceptional, the service was faultless, the hotel is immaculately clean, the food in the restaurant was very good, our room overlooking the garden was wonderful, 12 blissful nights spent here. You can walk to the Boudhanath Stupa in under 10 minutes through a very characterful area, then you can get a taxi to anywhere else you want to go. The Wi-Fi is mostly strong.
It was difficult to find as taxis don't know it. The surrounding area is dark and depressing. They had problems with supplying hot water.
The staff were friendly and helpful. It is in a good location for visits to the Bouda. The room was warm and comfortable. The garden was lovely
Extra taxes that appeared out of nowhere. In their papers its called ++ (Plus plus) but at the bill it was actually +++. Why should it be so hard to have the actual prices on print in the first place? I wanted to have 2 t-shirts & 1 pair of pants washed, they wanted me to pay like 70$ for that. After some discussions they understood that it should be like 7$. Just a bad taste when you feel that they try to rip you off. A lot of noice from the inside of the hotel (Night & day), like electric stuff & cleaning ladies early in the morning. Showers only had hot water now & then. Why isnt there the a sign or something somewhere on the hotel with its name? Taxi drivers had a hard time locating it. This wasnt a big problem but still very strange.
Good enough breakfast. Very good staff at the breakfast & by the gate to the hotel. A quiet roof top terrace. Clean room. The hotel is just a nice walk away from the stupa.
Incredibly helpful, friendly staff who would go out of their way to ensure your comfort; great food; great rooms
Nothing after I stayed in Thamel in town!!
Had a great stay with super friendly staff and a very comfortable, clean, quiet room. Also stayed in town centre, will never do it again. Shambaling is not in the middle of town but more a quiet suburb which is alot better than dusty, dirty, noisy, chaotic Thamel in KTM. The value for money is also super compared to what you get in Thamel. Don't be stupid, stay in a nice hotel and take a taxi to where you want to be.
I was there in winter. The room I had booked had no heating and was cold. When I complained, I was told there was a bed warmer....I said I actually expected to be warm in the room even when not in bed! I was told that if I wanted to upgrade to a deluxe room, I would have heat!! Later the manager offered the upgrade free and apologized for the comments of the other man. So, watch out if you don't want to pay lots extra for heat! The restaurant also was cold and used gas heaters near tables to warm you. The smell was not pleasant. Internet was only available in the lobby, which was small and cold and the restaurant as described above. The walk to Boudha Stoupa begins down an alley...even with a flashlight, I couldn't find it for the return...and the night walk was not pleasant.
Most of the staff were very attentive and courteous. In warmer weather, the courtyard and garden would be very pleasant.
Wifi only worked in the restaurant No tv in the room. At $80 a night I would have at least expected that since there is no wifi available Hotel wasn't as close to the boudha as they advertise. You have to go down a narrow alleyway before you get to the Main Street and walk another 15 mins. During the day this is fine but walking at night by yourself is a bit intimidating since it's pitch black in certain parts. You will need a flashlight if you come back past sunset. The room was freezing cold and I didn't realize until the next day that there were heating blankets. No one told and I just slept with 2 blankets. For the money, you can probably find hotels that are closer to the stupa but if you won't want to be in the thick of the tourist crowd, this location may suffice.
Breakfast was best hotel breakfast I had in Nepal. Clean restaurant, a fruit platter with a good selection of fruit, illy espresso available, warm toast Hot shower with good water pressure
Great location near Stupa. Lovely relaxing quiet garden. Fabulous restaurant. Helpful staff. Would stay here again.
Difficult to locate - could do with a few signs
Walking distance from the Stupa Quiet Not fancy but clean and functional Value for money If you are looking at spending time in the Hotel not the place This is more of a nice bed to sleep and a clean place to stay at affordable prices close to a Historical Monument
Price is quite high for level of quality/services
Tasteful rooms, very polite and helpful staff, nice breakfast, good location (close to Boudha stupa), no TV!
Difficult to sleep sometimes. A lot of noice from the street, late evenings and early morning. BUT that's nothing I can blame the hotel for
The staff, my room, the food, the service. I have been here three times and I am sure I will be back
To get there is really difficult, the road is very poor! And not close to the main part of the city.
The place was really nice and the staff very helpful.
Beautiful Nepalese style hotel. Loved the gardens, so serene and peaceful. A perfect place to relax. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.
This place I found had really good customer service, including keeping our bags for us when we went hiking, great meal service, and arranging tickets and transfers. The breakfast in the morning was awesome! And i mean awesome! Only downside is that it is more pricy for similar quality rooms in Thamal as guesthouse ranges; I would say the single room was a bit overpriced given hot water was intermittent. Overall, I thought this hotel was a nice stay.
The refinement in decoration, service, restaurant. The best bed and pillows ever!! Really appreciated the eco- gestures and the breakfast menu. A real oasis in the chaos and noise of Kathmandou.. Loved our stay here!
The environment outside the hotel especially the road leading to Bouhda is horrible! Very rugged road.
It is an elegant place to stay. It's rather clean, quiet. The staff including guard are ver friendly.
Dogs barking at night and road access to the hotel
Hotel staff is very kind and helpful! Nice hotel and garden area for breakfast and dinner:)
Very rough road to arrive! Otherwise everything is excellent.
Wonderful ambience, superb service, great al fresco dining in the garden. Large comfortable rooms (no TVs - excellent!). Tibetan ownership. 15 mins to Unesco heritage Stupa, very worth visiting in early morning.
