Convenient location given that the city centre is closed. Spacious rooms. Free wifi. Maid service was a bit ....uneven.

The staff (other than the manager) was friendly and helpful. The room reeked of cigarette smoke. The tank to the toilet leaked. Very noisy. Very run down. Loust beds. Gas station style soap dispensers instead of regular soap and shampoo. Very obvious that the emphasis is on cutting upkeep costs. We decided to leave before our reservation was over; this is not a place to stay to enjoy your holiday.

Nothing - it was absolutely sub standard and I would never recommend anybody to stay there. Poor standard of cleanliness, very very outdated to the extent that we felt like we were staying in a homeless hostel. There were a large group of asian construction workers who were living in the hostel who were crowded into rooms and very noisy. Disastrous - the only reason we stayed there was because the Christchurch Show was on and we couldn't wait to check out the next morning. We would have foregone the cost of the room and gone elsewhere however there was not a single free bed in town.

The location was quite handy. Room was very scruffy and not really clean at all. Internet access did not work. Room had been damaged by earthquake and not repaired.

Whilst I would recommend Abbey Motor Lodge to other travel goers, I would be very quick to point out about the smell. Also, I was charged for our stay without being told. I had assumed I was to pay on sunday as the receptonist never asked me to pay when I checked in on friday evening, however on sunday it turned out I had already been charged. I would rather of been told so i could pay in a different way instead of on the credit card.

It is on a main road Only half of every room's lighting were working or removed. Not even a working light in the kitchen. No soap were provided, only dispensers were availible. Soap were availible in one dispenser in the bath room over the hand basis. No soap were in the dispenser in the shower....I Found this out while I was wet and standing trying to get soap out of the dispenser. Eventualy I had to run to the hand basis's dispenser while I was wet and could. The continental braekfast was offered to be delivered in the evening and I had to warm it up the next morning.
