Liked the asthetics, shower pressure, comfy bed and linen, wifi, adequate space for lounging and breakfast, no hurry to check out, no worries of keeping the baby or children quiet. Peter excelled in customer service.
It would have been nice to have access to a bible as I have got use to seeing them when staying at hotel/motels b and b. But other than that I could not fault this place.
Peter met us at the airport
All was fine
Our host, Peter, was friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and the bathroom clean.
There was only one toilet shared between several rooms and it was in the bathroom so if someone was having a shower you had to hold on.
Owners are lovely and house is beautiful. A 10 min walk from town.
Very helpful and obliging
The owners are incredible! Very friendly! Breakfast was great. They even gave us a ride to the airport.
Very friendly and helpful host. Piano a bonus. Felt almost like home. Very comfortable bed. Warm. Handy off-street parking.
Nice old house, friendly owner and pleasant room. Communal breakfast was fun!
nice and kind spirit host Antique facilities with free wifi service good location beautiful free free breakfast
really nothing. It would be lovely if piano in the loung tuned
The place is a large older house, so has a more relaxed feel than a hostel. Peter was very nice, and the breakfast was fine. Internet was unlimited and pretty fast. 10 minute walk to downtown. There was also a public fridge and microwave in common area. Also has a nice big living room with tv.
Would have been nice to have a small kitchen area for cooking, like adding a range and sink.
We felt it was more hostel like. Wouldn't label it as a B&B. Strong musty smell. Definitely needs to be renovated along with a good old-fashioned clean. They have been living there for over 12 years so no excuse. We spent 21 days in NZ in different locations daily and this was the worst place. We were glad to leave.
Beautiful house with spacious rooms. Nice dining room and living room. Very friendly host. Beds etc all v comfortable.
location is nice
extremely poor standards, very basic, good for backpackers, not worth the money : 1 bathroom for the whole floor, no TV, extremely poor breakfast
close to town, nice garden, friendly and helpful owner
-old & tired property -no recent reinvesment -musty smell in room -extremely basic breakfast - cold cereal, store bought bread for toast, canned peaches, a big disappointment.
Great location and good value. Appreciate ride to airport
Sharing bathroom but we knew about that when we booked so no problem really.
The breakfast was very nice and our host went to great effort to make sure that there was enough for everyone and that everything was alright.
There is only one bathroom available for use by all guests (could be a dozen people) with shower and toilet in the one room.
We felt so at home at ACE accomodation; it was so comfortable and Peter really looked after us.
A warm and friendly welcome from the owner, who has only recently taken over the running of this lovely old house. Rooms are large and comfortable, with great views from the wide balcony at the front of the house. We shared a large bathroom with two other rooms, but this presented no problems at all. ( Other rooms have en-suite bathrooms.) The continental breakfast is served family-style around the dining-room table - great for making new acquaintances! We were very grateful that there were secure storage facilities for our extremely valuable road bikes.
Guests may be of the opinion that the place could do with a makeover and an update: perhaps some more "feminine" and comfort touches around the rooms, for example, long mirrors, bedside reading lamps, tea and coffee-making facilities upstairs, and so on. However, these are not serious shortcomings and do not detract from the experience of staying in a large and friendly home.
Friendly owner and wonderful house with beatiful garden. We even had a barbeque outside :) There is a shared bathroom but its big, quite nice and clean.
We had cheapest room (which I regret in retrospect), and there was part of AC system or something, which produced quite annoying noise.
Our host was wonderful - very welcoming and helpful.
There was nothing not to like - highly recommended.
Loved being in an old-fashioned home, not one of the new, hard, modern boxes that the neighboring homes were. Nice architecture and lovely detailing inside with a lovely garden and wide veranda upstairs on the front. Very nice hosts that made themselves scarce until needed, rather than hovering. Comfortable beds most rooms, including our rooms, were fairly spacious. Free breakfast was appreciated. Safe location and nice cat. Met some great people - very conducive to chatting with others over the table.
Only 1 bath, though very nice, was shared by too many people/rooms. Rooms showed a fair amount of wear-and-tear, but not enough to be off-putting. Uninteresting residential neighborhood of which this was the only home of any charm. Still, don't think I'd have preferred to be more downtown, given the "town," which definitely is not much. Wouldn't ever bother with Hokitika again, though I did enjoy our stay and Peter was really nice and even upgraded our room without our asking.
The owner was very friiendly and helpful
Peter was very welcoming and made us feel at home. I liked Peter, I think he liked us too. We had the en-suite bedroom. It was good. I really liked the bath. I was unable to make the bath work. On later inspection I found a big switch on the wall and then it worked well. The king bed was comfortable and very long. My feet were able to be covered all night and not stick out the bottom. It was also sturdy yet quiet and able to hold my hippopotamus of a girlfriend without the slightest squeak. Very nice :)
The rooms could do with a television. The breakfast was quite limited.
